Shakesvivor is an awesome thing. Many of us old-timers remember how the board all but died after the final episode of S1. This time around you have single-handedly sparked an interest that will last for weeks to come.

Suppose just for an instance your cast of characters actually competed, actually voted, actually won immunity...

For example;

Weekly random announcement of Immunity challenge..could be something as simple as an internet search to find the answer of a trivia question...or even (post merger) pick a number from 1 to 10...

He who responds first correctly wins Immunity...

Weekly vote: Contestants e-mail AK or you the vote...to keep it anonymous, y'know? Non-participants votes don't count and most likely they will be the initial bootees anyhow..

I know that there might be a concern that it just turns into a big popularity contest, but hey, you've got some big guns in here....and we're all friends, right?

...or you could just write your stellar summaries. (Why do I have the feeling that your response will be to highlight this line and post "Thanks! I think I will!)

It's your show clowny. It's just, as I said, a humble suggestion....

Shakes, please consider Supes' ideas. I thought we were going to get to play. Just being picked and put on a team gave me a lot of insight into the Survivor dynamic and the kinds of insecurities that come into play immediately. Yes, and it's even more like real world in some ways, because alliances have formed before it even starts, but still, it could be really interesting--especially if it's a game of wits and humor and there is immunity to throw a monkeywrench into the alliances.

Please consider letting all the contestants who want to play contribute with their own very entertaining voices, and then you get to take that material and bend it into your hysterical twisted summaries.

Really, your summaries will be funnier if you are commenting on real interactive material, just as with the Survivor summaries. After all, Mark Burnett could have hired people to act out his lame scripts verbatim (I know, some would have it that's how it works), but it's that little bit that's not under his control that makes the show worth watching, spoiling, bashing.

If people don't want to play, they'll just get voted off early. I don't think any of the participants will mind that!

I only ask that we get a window of time to get our responses in. I would even like to play in real time if we could get a time when everyone could log in.

You really have created a phenomenon here. Play it to the max!

Supe has an excellent idea. But speaking from my limited experience with Shakes, he won't consider it. See he wants too much attention for himself and to let others participate would be taking the attention away from that. He hasn't even the courtesy to respond to this post or my previous post about this.

I am just itching for a fight with this guy. However a couple words will do it. Get over yourself!

See posts #10 and #15.

Nice to come by and see some activity still going on. IE, you and ICB (which of the new identities is he? I thought he was Hatched and Pendragon was one of the Shakesvivors, but I can't be sure) should make sure to set up your own Bashers thread focused on EPSTC (to use the ss.com phrasing, Evil Pecker Shakes The Clown). You may even get "not shakes" to post on it!

you guys are living is a dream world if you think this
asshole actually cares what you people think! Haven't you seen the way he operates on the boards? The guy is nothing but a tyrant!

I saw him with my own eyes reading this thread and ya know what, he was laughing! And that caused me to laugh, which was a big mistake cause rule #1 here at the Shakes Compound is that never, under any circumstances are you allowed to laugh AT the clown! So, you know what he did when he saw me laughing.....he came over and threw a steaming hot tall double mocha latte with skim milk right in my face! And then he wouldn't even let me leave the office to go to the Emergency Room!

And you think he is actually gonna listen to YOUR suggestions! Why?! Cause you are part of the cast??? Do you think that makes you special? In the dickhead Clown's mind, that means that he is gonna treat you worse than the regular people on this board.....he was laughing in the elevator yesterday about how he is going to ruin all of your lives and have you hating each other by the time this whole charade is over!

Do yourself a favor and get out while you can!

Oh BTW, I see that some of you still don't believe that I have actual inside info so tomorrow night I am going to post the name of the first bootee.....that ought to silence all the critcis.

*** That's a dirty lie!!! Shakes would *never* do that! I'll bet it was your own stupid fault - you probably inhaled the foam and passed out into the latte, didn't you???

> And then he wouldn't even let me leave the office to go to the Emergency Room!
*** Again, blatant lies!!! I know for a fact that at Shakes Burnett Productions, he has a crack team of clown paramedics on hand at all times!! Of course, 20 of them arrive piled into a tiny little ambulance, but that's besides the point!

Hey, "shakes wannabe" - ooops! - I mean, "NOT shakes!" Did you downgrade this thread to a lower rating, you weenie??? Because *I* rated this with a ten this morning! I hope to meet you on the island, wimp boy! I'll throw a kangaroo in your face and hope it knocks you into a pit of monitor lizards! Pppphhhttttttttpppp!!!!!!

"Those other two" WHO?! The only love match here is between Vamps and Supe, and I can't believe they would offer up our little go-getter. . . If this is true, Itz, it will come back to haunt them, I swear!

This clown is just trying to mess with your great self-confidence, Itz--don't pay him any attention. They gave our tribe the stoopid name, and he's just trying to set us up as the underdog.

What a pathetic cry-baby.

He lives a meaningless life of drudgery, dominated by a ClOWN for god's sake, and to top it off he puts skim milk in his latte! What a wimp!

His only hope is that he will get some attention by posting on these boards, but his inept social skills cause him to be an outcast right from the start. And it's too bad, because it would be nice to have someone to rely on for some dependable spoilers - but this guy is such a loose cannon, how can we trust him?

Listen, buddy, I'm sorry that your life sucks, okay? But if you want to be accepted and listened to here, you'd better adjust your attitude mighty quick. You're dealing with the upper-eschelon media whores of Shakesvivor, not some second-rate losers from a show like Fox's Love Cruise, for cryin' out loud.

I like your suggestion Supe and I think it would be a great idea. However, what you are talking about takes a hell of a lot of time. I dont get the feeling that Shakes has a whole lot of that right now. He is a working lawyer, and the whole Love Cruise media tour will probably begin pretty quickly as well. I get the feeling he is in over his head as it is. He's even having to plant his own spoilers for crying out loud. I think we will be lucky to see the entire show play out. He hinted at this in his Press Release thread. The only way he could do what you suggest would require the aid of others around here, and maybe he will(not me I'm busy enough). If not, let's view Shakesvivor as a test run, and if it plays out well with no hard feelings, then next off season someone with more time could do what you are talking about.

Just my 3 cents,
Kismet

I can say from experience that real voting, coupled with real alliances and a real game, is not only unbelievably time-consuming for both the players and the producers, but may lead to real hostilities afterward (and you guys thought Jerri was nasty -- wait until you experience a double-cross yourselves).

As host, my advice to shakes is to keep the proceedings as divorced from reality as possible. If anyone has lots of time to spare (in other words, no life) and wants to coordinate a real game, that's fine, but expect it to take over your life...

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I did host it and it was loads of fun but also loads of work. I only had 7 challenges and even that took me the better part of a night to think of and create. Bottom line, it's a blast but takes a lot of time...

Okay, I don't mean to get all serious here, but I promise, promise PROMISE - I *do* understand that this is just a game, we're only playing and killing some time till S3, and that we can't expect too much from Shakes as he does have to work! And that any double-crosses or bad things that happen to me on the "island", I will *not* take offense to, be angry, etc. - I know we're just playing around and this is just for fun! And I know that this "Not Shakes" guy is one of us playing around, and that we're all acting and re-acting to the predictable "I worked for Mark Burnett and here's what happened" Unclecameraman types! We'll keep it all in fun, won't we, you guys?

And Shakes - we love ya! Thanks bunches for coming up with something to keep us occupied and the boards hoppin' till S3 gets in gear! You only do what you can, okay? We'll be here!

Yeah, that's all true. And I do have a life, but I love games.

But I expect the media to expose the manipulations, distortions, and cover-ups, and especially the blatant use of body doubles to simulate sex acts.

And since there's absolutely no prize money, what's to keep the cast from leaking what really went on?

So sue me, Shakes, I'm feeling judgment proof!

Hey OutFrontGirl, I am so glad you are posting over here on Off Topic. For those of you who don't know, OFG, RR and I are old players from Survivor Market where I think we all got our start on this board. I can tell you that she is a fierce competitor and I wouldn't overlook her potential.

By the way OFG, Have you noticed that skierdude13 is remarkably similar to ski4speed44 the notorious cheat from our glory days on the Market? You are on the same team as he is. Do you think Shakes is planning a real 'beef jerky incident', and setting you up to uncover the cheat?

Kismet
P.S. I know none of the 'cool' people(except Erist and Koko) played that game but a quick glance at the Suvivor Market thread "The Scarlett C" will explain what I'm talking about. Yes I AM too lazy to link to it!

Posted by AyatollahKhomeini on 05-22-01 at 07:19 PM
Kismet, as OFG probably remembers, I played SurvivorMarket at first (she used to drive me crazy by offering to sell shares for 25 cents less than my price -- no matter what price I set!). Then the people at MarketEcho were revealed as a bunch of weasels (I won't go into the details here), and I stopped playing -- I didn't want to help their site. Too bad; I had a bunch of honest shares of Tina as the winner....

"RE: SurvivorMarket"
Posted by Outfrontgirl on 05-22-01 at 07:43 PM
Hi Kismet--I'm happy to see you posting too.
You should have been drafted for your bull-shirt story alone; that was so funny. Shakes' loss. Oh, that's right, you didn't want to betray your husband. Good for you!

You know, I wondered about the skier doubles at the time. Both using numbers, too. Ski44 once had the nerve to post on Market echo to find out why he didn't get paid off on Jerri for the RC.
When he was cheating so hard and being flamed in an adjacent thread, too. I don't know, our skierdude doesn't seem that scheming, but he could have an evil twin.

AyaK, I'm really sorry I frustrated you with the .25 thing, although then Kismet was doing it to me, vice versa, and several others, and the rest of us talked about it on a thread.

Truly though, that was because we were competing to sell our worthless stock that we got as marketmakers (or what we thought worthless, not always the same), and you have to have aggressively competitive pricing to sell stuff that will shortly become of no value whatsoever.

I never undersold the stock I believed in--thus I ended up with a lot invested in Tina too.

That's interesting to hear they were weasels at ME. I didn't hear anything about it until they closed down. I'm just hoping Shakes isn't about to pull a Market Echo and shut down the show in midseason. If you can't finish it, you shouldn't get people into it (mmm, that applies to so many things).

"RE: SurvivorMarket"

AK I'm sorry I didn't include you in the 'cool regulars' category. I remember seeing your name, but you never posted in the SM treads during the fiasco so I forgot. IIRC, You and Webby stopped playing at about the same time, was it because of ME? I wish you had posted about the 'weasel' aspect.

OFG-Ski4speed actually posted on the Closing down thread. He was complaining that it was shut down and he was #1. I responded with my first and thus far only flame. It was like therapy! (No, I didn't report it in the news guide, that would be a conlift of interest.

I am glad you liked my 'bull-shirt' story. I am also glad I am watching from the sidelines on this one. Much more fun to watch report the madness than participate in it. I'm rooting for you girl!

If ME stands for MarketEcho, the answer is yes. But we didn't want to ruin anyone else's fun ... we didn't think they'd fold up and slink away back to the sewer as quickly as they actually did.

It was lots of fun. I had to check my positions several times a day, because I knew that it was going to happen. But, other than the cheats, there were lots of good players in SurvivorMarket ... for S3, we need a game that works!

100% agree!! And Shakes himself has said that he has no control over the media. So we can expect a lot of info to get out that Shakes withheld or distorted in his summaries (and you know he will...).

>

True, true! We're bound to get some conflicting stories from the cast, but the public can sift through it all and decide for themselves.

Remember: the "summaries" will only be an incomplete, biased accounting of events on a heavily edited "show". There is far more activity taking place outside of the summaries than in the summaries!
