"X-Factor USA Judges Home #3 ECST"

Keep all the drama of the 53 seconds of actual content spread out over the next two hours here until the West Coast knows if that ??? on the X-factor page means they will inflict more than 16 acts on us or not.

I'm just hoping Whitney Houston will show up and personally congratulate her good friend Stacey on making the finals.

Go ahead, beyotch. Explain that away.

And the face of The Liar is the first one we see.

I'm starting to think this is the most recent version of Adam's sexuality. Everyone knows it and we're the only ones who are going to say it.

Voice over of day jobs.
All hope to become the next big thing.
Recappage of wailing away during auditions.
Boot camp footage, people going home
32 acts remain.

Previously, the auditions at judges homes. Tonight the moment of truth, the final 16 are revealed.

It's Time. To Face. The Music.

If you forgot, they were in 4 groups and went to meet their mentor and a review of who and where.

Did you ever read the trope entry for Viewers Are Goldfish?

FOX doesn't have the attention span to finish the title.

Any chance the music will punch some of them in the face?

Oh, there's Nicole, acting like Kara again. 'Singing doesn't matter. Only sales. Look at me: I can't do anything on the stage, but I can sell! Out!' And here we have Rhianna, who thought she knew what abuse was until the males started inflicting it on her eardrums.

Is the episode over yet?

They actually had some guy read the same lines over and over and over again. I assume that's him.

Oh and sometimes he has been on screen as he gets to hug the contestants.

Sometimes his accent is so unintelligible to Americans that the Close Caption people get it wrong.

Likes all the girls, but it's the moment of Truth

Simone Battle and Tora Woloshin first to find out.

Tora Didn't Make it.
Simone, it's good news.

Only three spots left.

11 minutes in and it feels like hours already.

Drew Ryniewicz
You weren't the best teenager, but the best contestant of the whole day, you are in the final four.

But at least it's not an airplane hangar. Which of course would be the Judge's Personal Airplane Hangar and only happened to resemble an Average Joe set through purest coincidence. Really.

Vaguely interesting that Simon rejected the former Idol contestant. Is this about the singing, the commercial potential, or just cutting all ties to his own past so he doesn't have to listen to anyone saying that he (potentially) won with leftovers?

this should have been switched. I give her 10 seconds into the 1st song before she forgets the lyrics...just awful decision but again the set up had be set up I guess

Emydi, are you doing a will go/ should go?

Absolutely agree, she had no business making the live shows!

we'll see how it works. I think the judges still have some say in who goes

Anyone can start wg/sg but I don't think there's enough of us to do a PTTE

Agree. And Simone looks horrible in hot pants.

"Nicole Decisions 1"

Josh Krajcik, she's weighed everything and makes it sound like she won't take him so of course she is and he is in.

Only three people left as we can't count, either.

Can someone explain the tiny hat fashion statement thing?
Krista Collins,
James Kenney tiptoes were shaking his fingers.
Dexter Haygood

the pacing is going to kill me, so painfully slow.

And the drawn out explanations and on and on it goes.

Krista is not going through
James not going through
Nicole is going with her heart and Dexter is through to the live shows.

"Hat size matches IQ."
Posted by Estee on 10-18-11 at 08:31 PM
I lived through Vladim's doubletalk: I can take this.

Hello, desperate need for storylines: Dexter's homelessness trumped James' working hours and stronger singing skills. So we send one back to the nineteen-hour shifts and give the weaker performer a hotel room for a week or two -- assuming he lasted on the street long enough to get into October. Anyone believing Nicole is making these decisions on her own, raise your hand.

I'd look around at this point, but you and I are the only ones watching this. And I'm not sure I mean 'here'.

Krista and James were both ok, I considered it judge's choice for one of them to go through.

Although I thought Dexter should have gotten the ax, I'd like to see him again after he gets some coaching and training before the live show. I'm a fan of his kind of song/music. He might actually surprise. Or he could totally flop. We'll see. I have hopes for him.

2Squared, The Brewer Boys, Illusion Confusion

Paula almost sounds coherent,

Illusion Confusion Out
2Squared Cut
Brewer Boys, you deserve to be part of the live shows.

Did the one brewer boy snort over the line that sounded so scripted being said by the other one?

4Shore
Not able to take you on to the live show. And here I thought they'd be in since they were by themselves. So I guess this means they are keeping the made up groups to justify their decision to make some fake groups?

"4Shore=2Screwed."
Posted by Estee on 10-18-11 at 08:40 PM
So I guess this means they are keeping the made up groups to justify their decision to make some fake groups?

Exactly. This smells like another producer's override: they just knocked out what was arguably the most talented assembly on the weakest possible excuse. No lead singer? Why does a group need a lead singer? They're a group. But that was the excuse Paula was able to repeat from the cue earpiece, so that's what she went with, vocal idiocy and all. They will have their artificial glue-stick creations if they have to kill every other dream in the rented mansion to get them. And they will, they will...

This is just sad.

"RE: 4Shore=2Screwed."
Posted by emydi on 10-19-11 at 10:25 AM
sad, indeed. They should have put 4shore thru like melanie but Simon was the only one allowed to have that set up

Thank dog for DVRs I watched 2 hours in less than 30

"RE: 4Shore=2Screwed."
Posted by csnumber23 on 10-20-11 at 01:32 PM
Yeah that was ridiculous! They were the top group by far on my list.

"RE: 4Shore=2Screwed."
Posted by cahaya on 10-22-11 at 00:50 AM
Indeed. The problem is Paula couldn't increase the number to 18, nor could she tell one of the jumbled ad-hoc groups they're out so 4Shore could get in.

Bigger mistake than Simon's. 4Shore should have been their namesake, in for sure.

Are LA and Brian wearing the same glasses?
Up beat music plays so he is in.

Nick Voss, Phillip Lomax, Skyelor Anderson, Brennin Hunt

Sending Nick Voss Home.

Cant have you give me Sinatra every week Phillip is in the final four, and he's shocked after that speech.

and the crooner too...I thought Tim should have gone thru instead of Lomax and I like crooners but not for this comp

"RE: Run that by me again?"
Posted by cahaya on 10-22-11 at 00:54 AM
I had Skyelor at the top of my list for best performances from the guys. Pity he didn't make it through. He would have shown that AI guy (what's his name again? oh, yeah, Scotty) what real country sounds like.

Glad the crooning cat in the hat Lomax made it. He's a fav of mine. Sure, he's retro by more than half a century, but he's so good at it. If Tony Bennett can sing on AI, why not Lomax on X Factor?

Jazzlyn Little, the nervous one. Grit polished off. It's bad news you didn't make it. Because they got her in confessional to say that only if the Simon says she good enough will she be a real girl.

Leroy Bell, Tiger Budbill.

Doesn't know if Leroy wants it, doesn't connect to Tiger as an artist.

Tiger out
Leroy you are so going through. She is way to happy about jerking him around.

"RE: Nicole Decisions 2"

She is way to happy about jerking him around.

It's almost as if you two haven't met before.

Personally, I have no complaints about the result. Leroy's the one I've wanted in the live rounds most. I don't know how long he'll last, but -- I've seen him perform and I've read his musical history. Give the man at least one day in the spotlight. He's more than earned it.

My fav of the over 30's is Leroy. I think he's going far. It looked like Nicole all but fell in love with him they way she wrapped herself around him on the couch.

"LA Reid's Decision 2"

Chris Rene, want to remind you it is a competition and consistency wins, after telling him he hasn't had it. and it's all bad news to see if you snap before telling you that you are on the team and going through.

"RE: LA Reid's Decision 2"
Posted by Estee on 10-18-11 at 09:08 PM
'Can I make you relapse here and now? Think of the ratings we'd get! ...no? Fine, I'll try to make it happen later.'

Of course, Reid messed up on one big detail: he used three of his No options early. Since the show will edit for a fifty-fifty at the end, his next two had to be automatics. Way to kill the suspense -- but that seems to be the show's main talent.

"RE: LA Reid's Decision 2"
Posted by cahaya on 10-22-11 at 00:59 AM
I had pegged Chris as out and Tim Cifers as in, so go figure.

Following Simon's example with Tiah, Nicole's example with Dexter and Stacey, I guess L.A. had to bring in his own back story contestant.

Fake Groups.

Lakoda Rain and InTENsity.

Lakoda Rain, energy that was off, need more joy.
InTensity, how to make the 10 personalities merge. Sum of all parts,

But had to take it all in and could you improve.

Lakoda Rain in.
InTENSity In.

Did is seem that Paula was making those decisions against what she really wanted to you?

"RE: Paula's Decisions 2"
Posted by Estee on 10-18-11 at 09:14 PM
I want her to tell me who, in those two groups, qualifies as the lead singer.

It would be nice to think that she has enough artistic integrity left to have a little bit of conscience twinge when she executes the producer's desires like this. It would be nice to think that. I almost wish I could.

"RE: Paula's Decisions 2"
Posted by Snidget on 10-18-11 at 09:19 PM
There should be some trope that everything said on a reality TV show by a judge must be immediately invalidated with the next performance/decision.

"RE: Paula's Decisions 2"

It's an open editing site. Figure out a trope name and a few examples to start with, then start the page.

"RE: Paula's Decisions 2"
Posted by cahaya on 10-22-11 at 01:01 AM
Well, it sure looked and sounded like her hand was forced, especially since she didn't seem to happy to see 4Shore off.

This is nonsense. One ad-hoc group at the expense of another established act I could live with, but both of them?

"Simon's decisions 3"

Caitlin Koch and Tiah Tolliver

Caitlin not in, and Simon didn't like doing that??
I thought he lived for that.

Tiah, I am a believer you are in my four.

I think Simon's allergic to strong women.

There are ways to test this. Most of them don't have him surviving.

"RE: Simon's decisions 3"
Posted by cahaya on 10-22-11 at 01:04 AM
Maybe it's the British bias against Americans doing anything that's distinctly British. No, not singing. Playing rugby.

I actually like Tiah. Sure, she's a Do Wop and Hey Lo type of performer, but she's much more entertaining than some of the other just-stand-up-there-at-the-mike-and-do-vocal-gymnastics singers.

"LA Reid's Decision 3"

OMG, they each are putting 4 acts through, why did they not tell me this before.

One spot left, two fighting for each one

Tim Cifers Country singer (which is IIRC too limited in genre to possibly go through) vs Marcus Canty (Mom gave me a time limit)

Wondered how Marcus fit in the current musical landscape. Can Tim be selfish enough to be a star.

Tim--I'm going to have to send you home.
Marcus--you are one of my final four.

Stereo Hoggz vs The Anser

Both groups getting some bad news.

Stereo Hoggz Paula's Gut making this choice, and they are through.

And probably the first time either of them have been in a private pool (or any pool with clean water).

Let's guess, the one in every single promo, ad, recap, etc.

Your the most talented, but I don't remember who you are, and it isn't about the best voice, and I'm looking for someone with a pimpable story-line so...

Elaine Gibbs going home.
Stacey Francis going to the live rounds.

Posted by Snidget on 10-18-11 at 09:49 PM
The little girl in almost as many promotions as Stacey vs some other poor girl that sings really really well.

What could the results be??? Any chance I can be surprised??

Rachel is nervous. Melanie, also nervous. You have one heck of a voice, and something Rachel is always going to want to do. Didn't expect how good the others were going to be. 4 from 8.

Rachel this has been difficult for me, came in as a clear favorite, Melanie, some people will think this is crazy decisions.

I've made my decision about you sweetheart, don't want to say this.

You haven't made it Babe, for Melanie.
Simon says he hates this job sometimes.

It's not great news, it's fantastic news. You are in my top four for Rachel.

"RE: Simon gets the pimp slot?"
Posted by cahaya on 10-22-11 at 01:11 AM
Well, we know who's the better of these two. But he must have been thinking, who will attract a TV audience like a girl who wants to win so she can have her own bathroom?

Simon blows it. (Temporarily, as we find out.)

Any act that deserves another chance.

They all agree Simon made a mistake. Heads to Sunrise Florida. All immediately told Simon what were you thinking.

Contestant doesn't know Simon on his way.

Sneaks up on Melanie and meets the family.

I wanted to personally apologize for the mistake I made, and from me and the other three judges. Ask you to come back for the live shows.

What do you say. I think it is Dad asks if she wants him to help her and he says absolutely yes.

So that really is it.

The final 17 are confirmed.

Next week the X factor goes live.
