"Bye Tony!"

I must admit I was shocked to see Tony get ejected this evening ...although I'm sure that I was nowhere near as shocked as he was.

I rooted for him throughout the game. He looked like the one Joe who had a chance to get chosen in the end by Larissa.

Oh well .... Maybe Fredo will get chosen ... or Brian????

Nahhhhhh !!!!!! lol

HD, I won't be surprised if Larissa picks Brian (or even Fredo). Not because she has a connection with one of them, but because she thinks that it is what she is supposed to do. This show is starting to look like one long job interview where Larissa is the job applicant and the viewing audience is the employer. She doesn't seem to have any connection with any of the guys and seems to be just going through the motions - date this guy because he hasn't gotten to kiss me yet, boot this guy because the audience won't like him so much. Is Mark Burnett writing her script??

LOL ... Well l found out last weekend on Larissa's website that she is an employee of Donald Trump.

She is the publicity face of Donald's Taj Mahal Casino in New Jersey.

And we know that Trump does business with NBC ... Miss USA, Miss Universe, The Apprentice, etc.

It's no coincidence that both girls on Average Joe happen to be former Miss USA contestants.

So draw your own conclusions .... Donald must have seen her at Miss USA 2001 and thought, "Never mind this silly pageant, I've got great plans for this girl."

Hmmm .... Maybe there'll be a twist and she'll win The Apprentice! Do they have a need for an ... ahem ... "artist" in the Trump organization?

Still, it's nice to see that Tony and her are still friends. Look at the link on her webite to Tony's site. Maybe they got together after all ...

That's interesting. I can think of a lot of goofy little twists they could work into the apprentice.

I wasn't surprised. You could tell her interst in him was fading, and she summed it up nicely I thought. He had no sense of humor, and they only had their art in common. The excitement over their shared love of art had run its course, and there was nothing left.

At this point, I don't think even Larissa knows what she wants.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I hate this show! I agree that this show is scripted and Larissa doesn't seem to have a connection with any of these guys, even the "hot" ones. I have never been more convinced than now that this show is absolutely scripted! Boo to Larissa, Melanoma, and the producers of this show. It used to be one of my favorites....

I really thought Tony had a good shot at this. I was as surprised as him. When she called his name, I thought "oh she is going to tell him she likes him alot and he is staying", but I was wrong! I don't see her picking Fredo or Brian. And I like Brian (his hair looks soooo much better!). Its going to be a hunk. But glad to hear Tony is still a friend. I do think there is a good friendship there.

I suffered a similar delusion.. for about 2 seconds before I realized that this show NEVER does that. The only time the gal calls a guy's name at the end is if he's packing his bags. I thought his jaw was going to hit the floor.

I was a bit shocked that she called out Tony's name. I thought for sure he would make it to next week. I thought Fredo is the one going this week.

Did anyone remember in an earlier episode, Larissa told Tony that he's still her #1? I thought I remember her saying that to him. Wonder what changed since then. She said she eliminated him because he's too serious. Maybe she didn't like his reaction after the boat explosion. Maybe he couldn't take a joke well and it turned her off.

I think you nailed it. She got spooked by how badly he took the whole boat incident. The picture was safe so the only thing that really happened was they got wet and had what could've been a funny story to tell later in life but he didn't let it go quick enough for her liking.

Hmmmm. It seems to me that originally Larissa was taking the bombing a lot harder than Tony was. My guess is that Larissa just likes guys like Michael and Brain, who are total screw ups and yet have a sense of humor. And eventhough she got rid of Michael too, she still held Tony up to him and Brain as a comparison and decided to eject Tony as well.

BTW .... for Tony (or anyone) to lose to Brian is pretty disgusting. Brian may be Mr. Sincerity .... but come on!

I think larissa likes to be protected. Remember that moment when she was underwater with Fredo and said she felt "safe" as the stingrays arrived. And then Brian works for Homeland Security. In fact, I think her being shaken up in the boat with Tony in it may actaully have made her feel less secure with him. Of course Larissa would never come out and admit that, so she comes up with the "sense of humor" thing.

One thing is for sure, Larissa really digs all the attention. Tony doomed himself by when he let his irritation over the boat explosion interrupt his worshipping of her. It's also a double standard to find one flaw in Tony and give him the boot, while overlooking a multitude of character flaws in the good looking guys. I really thought she would keep Cardamone around despite his boorish behavior.

I agree with all of you. And one more point....she said she is looking for a "mate" for life? I really don't think she is going in the right direction. I don't think any of the guys left are what she is looking for. At least not for "life" anyways.

During her one on one after the cave date with Tony, Larissa pretty much let on why she was booting him. She said he was stuck on the boat thing, and also that they always seemed to have the same conversations. I kind of got the feeling she was seeing a future of him still harping on some minor thing that occurred months ago, and harping in vivid detail, after a very boring repeat conversation that they both know by heart because there's just nothing left to discuss.

I was surprised, but not terribly.

I was happy she got rid of Tony. The guy gives me the creeps. I don't know what it was about him. But I didn't like him.

I think even Larissa got tired of the tortured artist thing Tony had going. We never saw him laughing and goofing off. Larissa wanted a guy with a sense of humour. Which is why Michael C was allowed to stay longer than most thought he would. He made her laugh.

Larissa was able to look back at the boat mishap and laugh. But Tony wouldn't get over it. And I think it didn't help that he was more determined to save the painting than help Larissa when the boat was sinking.

Maybe he creeps you out because he doesn't appear to have any eyebrows. Its sort of that turtle head look.

That was probably part of it. Not to mention the stupid shave job. But he looked like an alien to me. Dead eyes or something. I just shuddered when I saw him.

The guys on the radio were talking about this, this morning. They were on about how he was an artist so he shaved this maze on his face... but only one side. They didn't get that or why he didn't try to round out his features with eyebrows.

Does he shave his brows or is that natural? I can't get around the Pink Floyd imagery, ala 'The Wall'.

I was surprised, but I kind of understand her point about the sense of humor. You don't want a serious guy ALL the time. Brian and Fredo make her laugh.

Gil is a tool. I don't like him at all. I think Jim is sincere but kind of shy?

I bet she picks one of the Joes. Which one? I'm still not sure. I'm guessing Fredo which means she'll probably pick Brian.

I thought it would be Fredo too. I'm a little surprised, but I see where Doodlebug and Loree are coming from with that whole tortured artist thing. Look at her with the hunks - she clowns around and laughs so much more with them, I think she wants a guy she can do that with. Not only that, but Tony's extremely sensitive. He seemed to be the most threatened when the himbos showed up and he let Larissa know it; the fact that he couldn't get over the boat thing just sunk him even more, no pun intended.

I have absolutely no idea where she's going with this now at all. I think Brian will be the last Joe, with Jim probably the last Himbo. But what do I know. Brian W. may actually have a shot at this. Who woulda thunk?

LOL, now that you mentioned it, I totally see the resemblence.

I was kinda surpised that Tony was let go. I thought it was Fredo's week to leave. As someone mentioned before on another post, She does give a lot of mixed signals. Don't quite get her right now. Who knows who she would choose in the end...We'll soon find out.

peace, love and granola.

I hate the whole Big Mamma set-up...it is so lame! I hated in AJ1 and I hate it in this one too. When Big Mamma asked about the least attractive quality about a girl, I was surprised how hard it was for some of the guys to answer that question. I kept screaming to the T.V. "say nasty teeth, or nasty breath...say something.." but I guess they were all too nervous.

I kinda think Larissa is a little two-faced. She keeps giving the AJs all these nice compliments but she is unable to be intimate with them. When they kiss, I feel sorry for the AJs cause they look like they are back in the days of grade 4 or 5 when they just learned how to kiss. Then she goes off with the HIMBOS and they lip lock like two college students who can't get enough. Its hypocritical. I understand that looks are partially important, but she needs to own up to her feelings. It doesn't matter how nice someone can be, or how great of a boyfriend that person may be in the future; if she can't be intimate with them naturally then it doesnt make sense to me. It looks fake, forced, and cohersed and I'm tired of seeing these pitiful kisses.

I think a lot of that is a confidence-on-camera thing. The Hunks know they got 'it' and so having a camera in their face while they're making out with a beautiful chick is easy. For the Joes, it's probably a different story. Not only are they making out with a hot chick for perhaps the first and last time ever, but they're doing it knowing that millions of people are going to be watching and judging their performance. Talk about pressure!

Was Tony the one who doesn't have sweat glands? If so, I'm wondering if the combination of him not having a sense of humor and the fact that he has a genetic dissorder were what helped her make up her mind. I mean, if she's looking for a mate for life, maybe she's worried about his affliction being passed on to their children. That may be a stretch, but I couldn't help but think that it may have been a factor for her.

I think Brian will be chosen. She keeps telling him how much she wants him there. It almost sounds like she's afraid he'll decide to leave, and she doesn't want that. I also think that she removed the himbos she was most attracted to early (Todd, Mike C, Mike K) to remove the tempation. She's smarter than Melana and has to be aware of how bad it will look if she chooses a himbo instead of an AJ. By getting rid of the himbos that would be the most tempting, she can focus on the AJ's. The two remaining himbos seem to be lacking in personality. I barely remember their names!

Well, Moogie, I think you might be right! When Larissa gave Mike K. and Todd the boot I was like "Huh??", but your explanation makes a lot of sense. However (there is always one of those isn't there?) I'm not sure I understand anything Larissa is doing. I believe she is just acting.

Originally Larissa was taking the bombing a lot harder than Tony was. My guess is that it had nothing to do with sense of humor but rather security.

I think larissa likes to be protected. Remember that moment when she was underwater with Fredo and said she felt "safe" as the stingrays arrived. And then Brian works for Homeland Security. That's a very good point HD! I never even connected the two, but it does make perfect sense. But she does also values a sense of humor, what person doesn't. I wonder if that will give Brian an edge.

"Larissa also wants a "non-threaning" guy"
Posted by Howard Dean on 02-17-04 at 09:07 PM

As far as sense of humor goes, Brian is sometimes the person you laugh at, not always with. He doesn't always realise that he is being funny.

So I would give Fredo the edge in the sense of humor department.

On the other hand, I think Larissa made some very strong statements about Brian being very good boy friend material in her mind, after her date with him a few episodes ago.

Most of us probably discounted it because Brian is such a dork, but that may be exactly what Larissa wants. She thinks that dorks are non-threatening. She can trust (and control) them.

Yet another possibility is that she will chose one of the himbos.

After the way I saw her rolling in the sand kissing and making out with one of the himbos on the beach (in the previews for next week), it's hard to believe that she will do otherwise.

It looks like Fredo gets an eyefull of her with the himbo on the beach. What kind of man would allow himself to be treated like that? I don't know a single man who would put up with behavior like that in real life, and still care about winning the girl. Wouldn't it be great if she chose Fredo and they're standing next to the plane ready to go and he says to her "Sorry babe, but I just can't see myself with a skank like you." And then he gets on the bus with the himbo! I would love that! That's the only possible ending that would make me happy!
