Keep all the filler, pimping, bus revving, silence of the judges, how many minutes over it really runs (already scheduled to run until 7 past the hour) and something I'm missing, *checks list* oh, sorry results, the actual purpose of the show on this thread until the West Coast awakens from their stupor and checks the interwebs to find out who won.

the whole voter pool was in a hot dense state

(read that any way you like)

When Scotty wins, I think he'll have more of an uphill climb than he's personally expecting -- but if he keeps pushing for a few years, he might just get his career. It won't be immediate -- but the show may finally have another success story, as long as they're willing to help him work for it. And that, right there, is going to be the problem.

Should Nigel pull out half the phone lines and hand first place to Lauren, then I-Forgot-His-Name is going to lose the only record he holds: Least Premiere Sales By A Supposed Winner. The show will lose those last three atoms of credibility, all the talent will retreat to Simon in hopes of better treatment or at least a less blatant agenda, and William Hung will not only reapply next year, but thanks to the drained pool, he'll make it to the voting rounds.

Make or break. The producers are stupid enough to pick the wrong option.

I find it interesting which parts of the entertainment media/on the street interviews have people think Lauren has won. But then again a lot of that may be based on people that watch at the end rather than follow the show.

Most of the web/blog stuff seems to be pretty convinced Scotty won and nothing will change that, but some of the more TV coverage seems to be making it close if not a clear Lauren win. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out tomorrow.

The bookies are heavily skewed towards Scotty, 1/4, with Lauren at 5/2. If you're convinced Lauren wins, place your bets now!

The birthday dinner was at this great place, and this is what I had. I sampled the "tacu tacu des pallares" which was wicked good as well for the lovers of swine in the crowd.

Just had two tornado warnings here in the last half hour, one about 10 miles north and another about 10 miles south of here. Looks like it'll clear up a bit until about midnight when the next line rolls through.

Sheesh, another tornado siren blares! Third time tonight. This time about 10 miles north of here.

I pity the AI advertisers. It's all going to the weather alerts.

122 million votes!

About what was cast for the 2004 Presidential election (and far more than was cast every election before that), but not quite up to 2008 numbers.

"RE: Ladies of the Top 13"

This performance shows why the girls all went out one after another: boring and interchangeable (except for Naima - I wish she'd lasted longer because she was interesting!). Pia was rocking it - was she more relaxed now or did she just make bad song and clothing choices while on the show? The boys Top 13 revue was much more fun!

Ok, I knew that Beyonce was going to pop up. Overall, I thought this medley o' pop this year was much better than prior years. I thought they all did a credible job.

I'm going to cringe when they feature the boys, because I'll have to hear Paul sing something. Unless they get Rod Stewart. Paul can mimic Rod fairly well.

I wasn't a Carrie fan, but damn, she really is good.

Carrie has gotten so polished since she won. I sure hope Lauren hasn't already strained her voice.

I'm skeered, isn't this the show that has a bazillion injuries?

And with U2 added in.

Yes. And the first little landing Spidey took in the aisle looked like he was going to slam through the floorand into the basement.

Who's the young kid singing? I'd hit that.

Doesn't matter who wins. Johnny-one-note Scotty, will have a country career anyway and Lauren will fade almost as fast as Taylor Hicks.
Interesting we didn't see Pia sing tonight, even though she was part of the Top 11. I guess she's obligated for the tour, but they didn't want her upstaging the F2, who svck compared to her.

After the nationwide vote the winner of AI season 10 is.

Scotty McCreery.

Way to go, Scotty!

And way to go, Ryan. You kept it short and succinct and none of this "after this break" business.

No surprise here, except for a rather entertaining show leading up to the announcement. Fine line up tonight.

I was surprised as I fully expected a Lauren win given the disgusting display I witnessed last night. However, it worked out okay.

As for the line-up tonight the two seasons prior had me totally "woohoo"ing and "omg"ing with the talent they attracted to the show.

But this was good, just not as mind-blowing as years past. Perhaps the absence of Bon Jovi, Slash and Barry has left me a little jaded.

Although Stevie filled in those blanks very nicely.

Thought this was one of the BEST Idol finales ever! What a great suprise line-up with Tom Jones, Sheila E, etc. And loved that the contestants got a shot at their own spaces. They were hilarious!! Really, seriously, Casey and James could be comedians in their own rights!

Have predicted Scotty to to be in the finale since day ONE, and am incredibly pleased that he did. Nice kid! Hope he doesn't love that niceness along way, in the midst of the 'business' that goes along with fame. And I think FAME will be second nature for this young man!!

Way to go, Scotty! Well deserved!!

"Antique Shoppe - Closed For The Season"

The Antique Shoppe will be shuttered until at least October for fear of offending child pornography laws. Maroonclown tapes a note on the door. She quickly packs a bag, bikini, toothbrush, flip flops, a coverup, toothbrush and checks her wallet for her credit cards and passport. She locks up, runs, down the rickety stairs to the caddy. Cabo seems like a destination for a couple of months. Some time in the sun. Reflection is in order, as is some serious holiday luvvin’. After the past couple of months she could use some no holds barred type of action. Hopefully, once the fall rolls around she’ll be able to tutor the young Scotty in the joys of (her) life.

Adios Amigos et Amigas. Hasta que nos encontremos otra vez.

That was one of if not the best produced finale for AI. The stupid stuff was kept to a minimum. (and btw, Snidget, I didn't know you were calling the finale the finally; I thought you were calling the performance night the finally).

The top 13 were well used; we got to see a good amount of them.

Jacob, Haley, James, Lauren, Scotty and Casey all got their time with a celeb....I am happy for them all!

James outsang the lead from JP. "Breakin' the law" is my earworm at the moment. Terrible camera work on that number though..

Haley did it right with the jazz. Maybe I liked it because she didn't growl.

Great mix of celebs. Kudos to AI for transitioning from Heavy Metal to Gospel to Pop to Jazz to Country to Latin to Pop to Oldies to Rock to Pop to Country to Rock to Country.... with finesse (I may have forgotten someone because there were so many acts!).

J Lo...shake it baby, while you can! You go! Mark is a lucky man.

Loved that the camera showed a shot of Michael Johns and his wife in the audience as the show started....and that Steven Tyler sang Dream On on AI. Vindication for MJ (since Simon claimed to not know that song, and you know he watched the AI finale this year to decide how to top it for X Factor. Simon, THAT'S Dream On.).

Beyonce....she showed the girls what it really takes to glow on the stage and own it. She was the star.

I ff'd through a bunch towards the end...Most of the Tom Jones medley, Gaga, Bono, etc. have to catch them later.

Scotty sounded much better with Tim McGraw than he did last night. That is the way I think of Scotty, not the robot-ish tired Scotty from last night.

He has a good, long career ahead of him. The fan base is built in. The name recognition is there. I think he'll be opening for some country act next year (Carrie?) and then graduate to his own tour in two to three years. AI will have him on 2-3x next year (once for the album single, once for AI gives back, once for the finale?).

If you were going to work Lee D into the show, where would you have put him? The Ford cars part was where they had David Cook give keys to Kris and Adam the year Kris won. They could have done that for Lee.

Wish Pia would have had a solo with a celeb, but it would have been awkward to skip over the 8th and 7th place finishers to do it.

LOL at Scotty trying to catch confetti on his tongue at the end.

I think he also skipped hugging Jacob as he went down the row hugging the AIers...payback for Jacob not hugging Scotty when Jacob was booted?

And to MC, Scotty looks like he will fill out a bit...have you checked out his father?
