Keep all discussion of the filler and the results here until the West Coast sees if we lose the Growler, the Crier, the Other Crier, or The Alumni of the Pied Piper School of Mic Holding.

I'll be on a call for class, so see y'all later.

Guys get to duet after Recappage is complete... they start in the crowd...

"Top duo"
Posted by cahaya on 05-12-11 at 08:11 PM
Good chance we're looking at the top two in the first duet. No bad, really. You'd think their voices wouldn't mesh at all with Scotty's deep country and James howling rock, but they met somewhere in between. Not a superb performance, but entertaining nonetheless.

James won Country Idol in California.

Interesting to me is that James and Haley show Scotty and Lauren they can sing country as well as Scotty and Lauren can.

How can they ever choose?!?

Simple, which genre do they prefer: Country or Rock?

It's either the standard wooden acoustic or the psychedelic black-and-white solid-body with what looked like a coon tail hanging on it. Translate that then to body parts.

For a brief moment, I pictured them within a boxing ring and going voice to voice. But, after the first stanza, I realized why this is AI and not that other show.

Awful performance, vocally. I'm not sure they ever got a single note to match.

Lauren comes out wearing the perfect outfit. The assembly she should have been in all along. Something that actually works with and for her, donned at last.

Haley comes out and promptly starts looking for the bed.

"RE: Wardrobe discrepancy. "

Lauren has been working on dropping some lbs over the season. I'd peg it at 10-15 lbs. Her booty is still there but not as big as it was in the beginning.

Well, there's goes what suspense there was in the first 20 minutes. Miss Hot Pants has to be sweatin' it now. The question is which guy joins her?

They have never made James sweat it out, have they? He's always been early to middle of the "declared safe" list, hasn't he?

"RE: Who's Safe Part 1"
Posted by Estee on 05-12-11 at 08:47 PM
He's the only one who hasn't been center stage yet. Scotty had his fakeout when Casey went home and Lauren went through her crying jag next to Jacob. Just based on prior experience, it's his turn.

"Night over."
Posted by Estee on 05-12-11 at 08:22 PM
The only suspense remaining is whether Ryan will eventually say 'not necessarily the bottom two' or 'random order' or any other words indicating the final pair on stage isn't the actual vote sequence. Given Lauren's insta-pass, some mention of this wouldn't surprise me. But Haley's out -- and I'm betting that if I glanced one site over, the Worsters know it.

"RE: Night over."
Posted by cahaya on 05-12-11 at 08:29 PM
Simul-posting exactly the same thing, although this was obvious. Yeah, it looks like it's all about the top 3, not the bottom 2.

Apparently the mere concept of letting Gaga go live was enough to scare the network into a fully recorded performance.

For the first time I was charmed by Gaga. She showed her true talent. She does not need all that crap that she surrounds herself with. Well, maybe in the beginning but not now.

"RE: Fear & terror in Los Angeles."
Posted by mindy23 on 05-12-11 at 11:08 PM
As much as I enjoyed the song she sang, I was embarrased by her outfit and the fact she basically opened her entire 'self' for the audience. Soft porn? Yea, in my opinion!

She's talented, she doesn't need that garabage of a performance to distract from anything else she is doing. No one is voting, least of all 15 year old boys!

I really enjoyed her professional work until two minutes ago. And I thought 'out on the floor' was the most mind-numbing tone-free repetition of the season? Guess what, Jacob: it hurts, it hurts, it hurts.

"RE: Jordin Sparks"

Yikes, somebody taught her some moves.

Yep. "She's only 16" is all grown up and has also lost some weight recently. I think that was the point of the intro vid clips, so you could see how she's grown to be a woman.

And I agree, it was toneless. I ff'd much of it; I was a bit behind on the show and that allowed me to catch up.

So last night was about the anti-pimp, I suppose? Rile up her fan base? She is like Syesha, working her way to the F4.

I speculated about that in the rankings thread, that the hammering Haley took just fired up her voters.

Just goes to prove that middle America s*cks and so do the little pissy c*ck s*cking teeny boppers who voted for Scotty and Lauren.
Scotty and Lauren both s*cked last night.
I'm gonna send an email or post on the AI site that they s*ck, the show s*cks (now that the only two that truly deserved it, James and Pia are gone) and tell Nigel to go f*ck himself and I will never watch AI again, or for that matter SYTYCD.

Alas, me either. I really dig this guy. There's an excellent classic rock band in California (the White Album Ensemble) he's scheduled to sing with this Saturday. I'm looking forward to this video coming out, perhaps something like this.

As for the others... just out of a bit of spite, I'll probably crank up the snark meter another notch or three in the coming weeks.

I. am crushed. for James.

On the bright side, I just gained some time back because the show is a whole lot less interesting for me at this point.

Hope Aerosmith plays the finale results night and James gets to sing with them.

Trying to remember if he gets to do the media tour this week or if he gets screwed out of that. Maybe it's the third placer who has their media tour postponed.

J Lo told us last night that they, the judges, wanted Lauren in the finale with the confetti falling around her. Maybe she'll get her wish.

Don't think anyone chose Lauren in the office pool, though, lol.

OK. I'm crushed, too.

I wanted a Pia -James finale. The beauty and the beast, lol.

Posted by grit on 05-12-11 at 09:42 PM
It's funny that you say you gained some time back now. When they announced that Lauren was safe, I figured Haley was going home. At that point, I decided that if she did go home, there wasn't anything left to hold my interest and keep watching the show. I thought maybe my TV schedule was going to get easier.

And I think that Steven Tyler may have been thinking the way I was. He looked pretty upset when Seacrest announced that Lauren was their first finalist. I think he was also afraid that Haley was leaving.

"RE: Red Light of DOOM!!!"
Posted by csnumber23 on 05-12-11 at 10:16 PM
Wow! I must say I am shocked! I was wondering why they would send Lauren to safety first, no drama left as everyone thought it was her or Haley. Ryan never said shocking results or anything either.

long time member and lurker here.. James demise is not a surprise to me, it was a foregone conclusion yesterday when Ryan said that this was the week that Daughtry went home. I can only hope that James is offered a recording contract and does very well. One can see the writing on the wall.. Hayley will go next week and Lauren will win the final..

I really hate this show.

Well, welcome back, longtime lurker and rare poster.

I think your hope is a pretty safe bet.

"Next week..."
Posted by Estee on 05-12-11 at 09:10 PM
I think Haley's best strategy (if the judge pick lets her) is to go full-scale rocker and hope Lauren & Scotty split the country votes. Ideally, if the divide goes deep enough, she could get herself to F2 that way. After that... she has some small chance to beat Lauren. I don't think there's any way she can defeat Scotty in a vote-off.

She can potentially advance if everything breaks just right. Win... that's harder.

"RE: Next week..."
Posted by byoffer on 05-12-11 at 09:18 PM
Although I was pulling for James, after tonight I am hoping the country vote gets split and Haley makes the finale. I do quite like her range and growl. Go Haley!!

The growler gets a pass and the guy who cant sing in tune is gone! I haven't been this happy since, well, since Jacob went home.

Now she just needs to Reinhart her way into the finals!

Last night was a repeat of Lambert vs Chriswho?. Scotty sang about how he talks to God, of course he beat out James. The only way Scotty could have gotten more votes is to sing Toby Keith's Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue.

I was thinking God Bless the USA. That's a general crowd pleaser.

I hope James thinks about writing some patriotic rock song that becomes hugely popular so future AI finalists aren't confined to country classics for vote pandering. ;)

(Maybe James should have had an acapella moment with the National Anthem or My Country Tis of Thee or America the Beautiful. In any event, an acapella moment would have helped.)
