Now and Then. "one current song and one from the 1960s"

Any predictions of what they will do with that?

Wonder if James will do a Beatles song...because that fits the 60's.

I can totally see him doing Steppenwolf's "Born to be Wild" - that would feed into his whole "I'm a bad-ass rocker" thing he's been force-feeding us.

Casey could have had a field day with the CCR songs from the '69 Billboard Top 100, including Fortunate Son. But this is a song, among other CCR songs, that I think James could rock with. Honky Tonk Women by the Stones wouldn't be a bad choice either. Heck, James could do half of these hundred.

For Jacob, Steam's Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye
For Hayley, 5th Dimension's Wedding Bell Blues
For Scotty, Johnny Cash's A Boy Named Sue (also Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline or Glen Campbell's Wichita Lineman)
For Lauren, P,P&M's Leaving on a Jet Plane

I could see James doing "Light My Fire" by the Doors.

"Results show"

"On Thursday’s results show, Idol judge Jennifer Lopez will perform “On The Floor” with rapper Pitbull, and country music supergroup, Lady Antebellum, will sing their latest song."

From mjsbigblog.

J Lo's reason to sign on to AI is complete. Self pimpage! (I expect Steven to take the stage at the finale, so it's not just J Lo).

Yep, I see James doing a ballad-like Beatle's song, then a rockin' in the now song that will showcase his range, and moves. At this point, the boy can basically do no wrong. He's pretty much got it in the bag, and I always look forward to hearing him!

Jacob (cannot believe he's still here!! Whateva) more than likely will do something like "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" (did someone else do that? Seems like maybe they did....) to showcase HIS range and creepiness; then I can't imagine what he'd do for current theme. Maybe Ce-Lo's 'Forget You'?? HA! I can see it now...never mind.

Hailey may do another Janis Joplin, but I'd like to see her do a Jefferson Airplane and show some gutsy Grace Slick. Have NO idea what she'll do up to date. More than likely something jazzy, and I'm really not up to speed on who's who in that dept.

Scotty will be the dark horse on this one. He'll probably do an Elvis, maybe 'In the Ghetto', or "Suspicious Minds" (man, I feel like I've heard these songs 1000x's and can't remember if they were just done or not..). Would LIKE to see him do something totally unusual like BS&T's, 'You Made Me So Very Happy', or some such thing. For up to date? Got me...I'm sure it will be very countrified.

Lauren-wow. Very unpredictable for her as well. I'd love to have her do a folksy, flowy Joan Baez, Joannie Mitchell, but we'll see what happens there. Up to date, I'm sure she'll do a Carrie Underwood or something VERY similar....yawn....

Ooh, look at zazzy! All surprised that JLo is doing this for self-pimpage. I had always figured that was her main reason for doing AI.

I never got the feeling that Steven Tyler was doing it for the same reason. The guy's a legendary rockstar. He doesn't need the pimpage. I think he's just doing it because it's so much fun. And I'm glad he is because as useless as his judging has been, he's been hysterically funny. And he's kinda sexy in a weird, icky sort of way. And he's an amazing singer - I can't wait for him to sing at the finale.

I got sliced!

And thank dog he's on the show because it's been another season of dreckitude (as they say over on ANTM).

I'm just razzin' her. ;)

She and Steven have been masterful at using their opportunity on AI to further their projects.

Steven, his book, and likely Aerosmith on stage for the finale and his well timed magazine covers; J Lo with her video, her PR accomplishment of most beautiful woman, her new cd debut and singing it live on AI.

Even though the judging panel is criticized for being too nice, they don't seem to have hurt themselves in their own projects.

On a side note, I just realized that the song that got Michael Johns booted, "Dream On"....comes full circle with the singer of that song, Steven, on AI as a judge. Simon didn't really know that song (or so he purported) and didn't give Michael the props he should have. Anyway, Michael was ahead of his season!

Only recently did I realize that Steve Tyler's daughter and Liv Tyler (the elven maiden in LOTR) are one and the same. And wow, she's hot, even hotter than her dad.

"Guest mentor: Sheryl Crow"

LAST EDITED ON 05-04-11 AT 11:58 AM (EST)

Let's give the Worsters a word here. Thefunnystone?

"It looks like Sheryl Crow is all set to mentor the top 5 contestants this year for American Idol season 10. She seems like a good pick because she's a singer/songwriter, she's had hit songs, and oh yeah... she hates American Idol. Back in 2007, Sheryl told MSNBC that, American Idol "undermines art in every way and promotes commercialism, I am sad people love it so." She has nothing but bad things to say about the show and now she's on it. Either she's a complete sellout or she's going on to sabotage the show and give all of the contestants terrible advice. I hope it's the latter. Hey Sheryl, get Jacob to sing "Trapped in the Closet" please. Thanks much. Love, VFTW.""

As they further point out on their discussion thread, this is the same woman who tried to free the world from the horror of toilet paper and who has something of a reputation for -- what's a good phrase here? -- selling out at the drop of a check. So the chances of it being the later really aren't that good. But the odds of her being a spectacular trainwreck full of in-sentence conflicts? Are off the board at every sportsbook in Nevada.

Pity. That extra 1/300th would have come in handy.

Interesting quote from her. This would not be her first reality tv show. I remember her visiting Big Brother....was it season 2?

Perhaps seeing Crystal Bowersox on the show last year changed her mind about AI. ;)
