"AI 10 Top 11 Results ECST"

What will the edit in/out tonight? How shocking will the promised shocking news be? (although from the later dizzyfeet tweets seems the news that has been going around earlier today)

Evidence that Mr. J. Lo mentored the kids this week http://plixi.com/p/86113458 but apparently they decided not to air the nepotism last night. If I thought they were competent I'd swear they cut that out last moment just to make my start post look like I'm crazy, but they are not that good.

Any.way. Keep all news, shocking or otherwise, in this thread until the West Coast sees the eliminations, filler, ads, and what-not for themselves.

I still can't get over learning half the teens in the cast have an STD.

What is the motown sound?

I counted exactly one song performance that would qualify.

"A new sound has emerged."

And it's pitchy.

Judges enter...OMH, J. Lo. figured out how to wear a skirt that comes down almost all the way to her knees.

Ryan comes in. 30 million votes. Outcome may shock you. Performance by Sugarland and Jennifer Hudson. Only 10 spots on the summer tour.

Bring in the top 11.

Pitchy and someone used to performing live needed to help out.

I was moving out of the room during one point -- did he actually dare to say something about conflicting judge advice or did I just get a partial context?

He did. It was about their telling Pia to do more. He disagreed with his wife and then said he wouldn't say anymore. (lol)

This week he does something for his wife. Next week, he goes back to defeating He-Man!

Steven is one of those cases where it's hard to tell whether he looks older than he really is. I have to look it up... he's 63 today.

Think he holds an AARP card?

On the other, we got to see Paul get hit in the face with a tray.

James vs Paul.

Tonight is unbelievable. Both of you guys are not safe. Your really not safe tonight.

Rocky music starts playing and Hulk Hogan comes out on stage.

Really good and really bad news.

Both guys really are safe, and both are going on tour, bad news is....Mr Ryan Secrest, you are not safe. Fake Punch into the audience. This Is American Idol...rips shirt.

Okay, I'll admit it. I laughed.

Oh, come on. It was Ryan getting punched in the face. How is that not funny?

And with James? That's what hero worship looks like.

In total contrast to last night, pure submission of the ego to a greater power. Hummah, hummah.

"Dim the Lights 3"
Posted by Snidget on 03-24-11 at 08:39 PM
Jacob, Thia, and Stefano.

Jacob is safe.
Thia is hang tight
Stefano is

Thia is in the bottom three, Stefano is also in the bottom three.

Off to the stools with the pair of you.

"Dim the Lights 4"
Posted by Snidget on 03-24-11 at 08:41 PM
Ryan says to stay for the whole night.

Naima, Hayley, Casey.

One of you is in the bottom three.

Sends Naima back to safety (and she seemed to be acting like it was Casey heading back).

Hayley vs Casey.

The person taking the last stool is Casey. Hayley is safe.

"RE: Dim the Lights 4"

Wow.

Either we seriously overestimated Casey's total Frau Factor or that segment went harder for Paul than we thought. (Remember, EW initially picked Casey to win.)

"RE: Dim the Lights 4"
Posted by cahaya on 03-24-11 at 08:46 PM
Wow, indeed.

His ratings on various sites were weak this week, but Haley's by and large were weaker.

He'll be safe, but this scare might get him back behind that stand-up bass again.

"RE: Dim the Lights 4"
Posted by frodis on 03-24-11 at 08:49 PM
Dial Idol had him on the bottom, which actually made me think there was something wrong with Dial Idol (that the fact that they only track phone votes was making them less relevant since there's internet voting now in addition to the text voting.)

But maybe they still know their stuff. Huh.

Don't you know you should never end a song with a preposition?

I always look at Jennifer's returns as textbook cases of America Is Stupid. Remember where she finished in her original season. I'm pretty sure she does.

"RE: Nascar guys in the house, and Jennifer Hudson"

Ryan introduced her as "not only a Grammy winner, but our only Idol winner with an Oscar"

High school English teachers all over the country cringe when hearing Jennifer sing...not over her vocals, but over the words of the song. Please, someone write a grammatically correct song for her!

That song title perfectly describes where Casey's at.

Thia is going back to safety.

"RE: Back To Safety"

I'm trying to figure out how this couldn't be Stefano. The show can't want to buddy up James this much.

"RE: Back To Safety"

I'm hoping it's Stefano...he was so shaky last performance...almost uncomfortable to hear...actually not almost...

"RE: Back To Safety"

Well, worst-case scenario, we might see the Save played out of the judges' sleeves.

"RE: Back To Safety"

He just doesn't have the tweeners...and they vote. should be interesting to see if they use the save...so many left

"RE: Back To Safety"
Posted by cahaya on 03-24-11 at 08:59 PM
And it's a done deal just seconds into his song. No surprise, really, apart from how quickly Randy did the cut.

And curiously enough, a few sound cuts following that.

"RE: Back To Safety"
Posted by Estee on 03-24-11 at 09:04 PM
You called it. This kind of ordering "injustice" (quotes definitely needed) had to be addressed. I was like Casey in that I wasn't sure they'd do it this early in the season, but he was arguably worth it.

But we now know it's status quo for post-save use: double elimination. And that still leaves them an episode or two short.

"Dim the lights--going home"

James catching flies.

Stefano safe, Casey t risk of going home.

The boys talking in the hug, can't hear what, cut out audio for part of it.

Singing I don't need no doctor.

Just as I was getting into the grove.

They are using the save...audio cuts out.

Casey looks like he's having a heart attack.

"RE: Randy cuts him off"

Seems as though the judges knew well in advance what the result was and even before the show began the decision was made.

"RE: Randy cuts him off"
Posted by Estee on 03-24-11 at 09:05 PM
There's been rumors that things do leak backstage, but we've also had some genuine shock on the panel. I think it's a week-to-week thing. Ryan knew, but Ravening Seacrestia may love his little jokes too much to blow many punchlines early.

"RE: Randy cuts him off"
Posted by zazzy on 03-24-11 at 09:05 PM
And he said OMFG...and they cut the sound when he did.

So who goes next week? Casey fans are on alert, so Casey won't be going. Stefano and Haley next week?

"RE: Randy cuts him off"
Posted by Snidget on 03-24-11 at 09:08 PM
That seems likely.

"RE: Randy cuts him off"
Posted by Estee on 03-24-11 at 09:12 PM
I like the odds, but I think you can rotate Naima and Thia in there. Everyone else is likely safe for now, but the cannon fodder was pretty established going into tonight.

Which makes Casey's insta-fall look all the weirder. What did we miss?

"RE: Randy cuts him off"
Posted by zazzy on 03-24-11 at 09:46 PM
He sang first, and imo he's not that good. I get that he has appeal for some. He has more appeal than Paul imo, but Casey's been uneven in his delivery, he growls and talks a song more than sings in some parts...over pimped. There have been flashes of good, but he doesn't come close to Taylor at all.

And while I'm on overpimped, not all cougs like Paul! If he sounded more like Rod Stewart, ok, but he sounds like bad karaoke to me.

"Ryan talking"

Very few people can act that well and that fast. He was absolutely convinced he was out. That post-save reaction was a whole lot of stun looking for a way to express itself.

"Next Week/Tour"

So two go home next week.

Ryan says predetermined if save used this week then top 11 on tour.

"That's fair."
Posted by Estee on 03-24-11 at 09:03 PM
Both the use of the save in this situation (weaker talents to leave first) and not making everyone sweat out 'Did I make the tour?' a second time. It's not as if the show can't afford to pay one extra singer.

"RE: That's fair."
Posted by CTgirl on 03-25-11 at 09:11 AM
And they've often added a singer to the tour at this point in the show,

"The Worsters...."
Posted by Estee on 03-24-11 at 09:28 PM
Just finished reading their ECST. Their reactions rapid-fired.

Shock. (Casey can't be out!)
Elation. (Casey's saved!)
Conspiracy. (Nigel timed that down to the second, including how long Casey would sing before the cutoff.)
Elation, Part 2. (If one of the favorites bites it, there's nothing they can do!)

But the reason I went over there was to see if they had any solid voting theories on how this mess happened in the first place. Looks like they may need more than a few minutes.

As do we...

But people still have to vote for him. I don't like him as much as I did at first - he's too screamy. None of my pretend votes would go for him next week. This will rally his fans but I bet he'll still be gone in two or three weeks unless he gets massive amounts of help from the AI insiders.

I agree. If I wasn't voting for him before, I wouldn't automatically change now, just because of this story. BUT, who's to say that some people won't? I thought the poor kid was going to start throwing up blood right there on the stage, and if he has to handle much more grief and stress, he may eliminate himself....
