Whatever you personally use to fortify yourself, get a supply together before Wednesday night. As VFTW accurately noted, the real theme of this week is Songs To Contemplate Suicide By. And that's before you hit the actual performances.Don't believe me? Meet the fight card.
1. Lauren Alaina – Any Man of Mine (Shania Twain)
2. Casey Abrams – With A Little Help From My Friends (The Beatles)
3. Ashthon Jones – When You Tell Me That You Love Me (Diana Ross)
4. Paul McDonald – Come Pick Me Up (Ryan Adams)
5. Pia Toscano – All By Myself (Eric Carmen)
6. James Durbin – Maybe I'm Amazed (Paul McCartney)
7. Haley Reinhart – Blue (Leann Rimes) {Special note: according to the original source, she decided to add her own personal touch to the song by yodeling.
This may bear repeating. She yodeled.
VFTW is happy.)
8. Jacob Lusk – I Believe I Can Fly (R. Kelly)
9. Thia Megia – Smile (Charlie Chaplin)
10. Stefano Langone – Lately (Stevie Wonder)
11. Karen Rodriguez – I Could Fall in Love (Selena)
12. Scotty McCreery – The River (Garth Brooks)
13. Naima Adedapo – Umbrella (Rihanna)
We're gonna die.
Well, you're gonna die. Personally, I may just watch ABC.
Now you know why they prerecorded this week's show. The commercials didn't give them enough time to switch audiences, revive the panel, and remove Lauren's teeth from Nigel's neck after she found out that she'd been given a Death Song and Death Position in the same week. (She's safe, but clearly the conspiracy has gone active.)Supposedly the actual theme is 'pick something by your favorite artist', but that makes Thia into a midnight TCM devotee. Not the worst thing to be, admittedly -- just very unusual for fifteen. And it might make Naima's pimp spot pick into a minefield stomp: she's going to follow those twelve picks with the most annoying non-song to ever repeat two words in a death-inducing rhythm? Good luck with that. Defibrillators would normally be standing by, but Steven hogged them all.
Not even a DVR can save this mess. But the Delete button can!
Yikes, I know so few of these songs. Fortunately the ones I do know are by the people I have hopes for. I need to go check out the lyrics and maybe a few youtube clips of some of these. The start of Casey's song pretty much sums it up:
What would you think if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me.
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song,
And I'll try not to sing out of key.
