"When does Rosie tape her shows?"

Posted by debar on 12-04-01 at 02:06 PM
OK, so someone posted that either Rob and Brennan or Frank and Margarita (how you could confuse those two I don't know) already taped an appearance on the Rosie O'Donnell show. Which makes me wonder if maybe all the losers (and the winners) have already been taped.

Rosie is on at noon EST in my area. She couldn't possibly tape earlier that same day. So when she has a losing team from TAR on her Thursday program, the show must have at least been taped the day before--Wednesday, before that night's TAR episode is aired. That means there is at least one audience worth of people who knew in advance who would be eliminated each night. How do they get them all to keep quiet?

But wait, there's more. I'm pretty sure that it was on last Thursday's show with the Festers (or maybe the week before with Momily) that Rosie talked about going trick or treat with her kids and joked about how Halloween "was so long ago" (implying that the show had been taped just days after Halloween).

We know these segments are done before a live audience (we saw them last week when Drew proposed). But when? And if it's weeks in advance, then a bunch of people already know who won the race!

Or am I missing something?

I believe that whomever wrote that R&B had appeared on Rosie corrected themselves. Neither team has appeared on Rosie..yet.

I think some of her shows are taped live that day. For some reason I believe that she only tapes one or two a week and that the others are live...something about only Fridays not being live sticks in my head. Could be wrong.

The way I understand that Rosie does her shows is that they are aired the day they are taped, with the exception of Friday's show which she tapes on Thursday, so that she she can have a long weekend.

There are selected segments of the show that are pre-taped, such as a really "special interview" (think Barbra Streisand) or event.

I do not know about R&B or F&M, but I can tell you that from past shows, they probably have not been on and will not be on until TAR concludes. She does not know the outcome. She tends to spill the beans, she cannot hold a secret very well.

katem, I agree that there is no way Rosie, who has absolutely no connections to CBS or the TAR producers, knows the outcome if even Jane Clayson does not. LOL at Rosie spilling the beans - she's so down to earth and that's why I think a lot of people like her.

I am almost positive that Rosie tapes the show live and they are aired the same day... at least for the TAR ones. After Momily was eliminated they showed up on the Early Show and then later on that same day on Rosie in the exact same outfits. I doubt the Rosie producers would say to any TAR people, wear the same clothes to Rosie that you plan on wearing Thursday morning on the Early Show if the show were indeed taped earlier than Thursday.

The finale is going to be Thursday this week. Friday is the only day that Rosie does not tape live. She tapes those on Thursday...so will she tape the winners early? Could be a leak if she does tape the show early.

Sometimes Rosie gets so excited about reality shows that she decides to tape on Fridays just so she can talk about the episode aired on Thursday and possibly have a guest from the show. She has done it with Survivor.

Cole, nice pick up on the Momily outfits, I saw that too. If you noticed the Festers were wearing the same thing the wore on Early Show as well.
