"AI 10 Hollywood #3: Rooms"

Posted by Snidget on 02-17-11 at 08:46 PM
I assume they are still doing the rooms with all the tense drama they can add to try to make you think the room with all the pimped people can't possibly be the one moving on.

many already crushed.

Only most promising remain, one more test. Most important audition of their life.

They sort the pictures, but that is later in the day.
Morning begins, full of nerves, plenty of rehearsing.

Sing with the band or a capella, one final shot.

"Hayley Reinhart"
Posted by Snidget on 02-17-11 at 09:05 PM
Messed up the words in groups, but let through, because they don't mean the don't mess up the lyrics.

She is killing it, which means they probably won't let her in to the semi finals.

Showing off her range, both in tone and in volume, belts out a few Joplinesque notes followed by some softies. Didn't care that much for this performance, really, but has a lot of potential with different songs.

"Ashthon Jones"
Posted by Snidget on 02-17-11 at 09:07 PM
Another big voiced diva type performance.

Thia Singing What a Wonderful World.

girls doing well so far, will the boys measure up?

Gals are going diva today, and managing to do it well.

I've got my eye on Thia, liked her since the start.

There are nosebleeds and there are earbleeds.

"Clint June bug"
Posted by Snidget on 02-17-11 at 09:14 PM
Will Karma bite him, sounds like not yet. although he really shouldn't be judging anyone else on their appearance.

And some girls singing the same song.

"RE: Clint June bug"
Posted by cahaya on 02-17-11 at 09:15 PM
Judges seem to like him. I guess he's got a good voice with a lot of range.

But I don't like him. Maybe it's the glasses.

"RE: Clint June bug"
Posted by grit on 02-17-11 at 09:16 PM
I don't care for him either. He was just too over-the-top for me. I thought the girls who sang "Georgia" did a better job.

"RE: Clint June bug"
Posted by cahaya on 02-17-11 at 09:20 PM
Yup, agreed.

He just looks and sounds like he's overtrying it, nothing smooth about his performance at all, although technically sound.

"Chris Medina"
Posted by Snidget on 02-17-11 at 09:16 PM
thinking outside the box.

But Carson has the same idea, well they were in the same group.

Doing it differently.

"RE: Chris Medina"
Posted by cahaya on 02-17-11 at 09:18 PM
Not bad, either of these guys, although we didn't really hear much of Chris' version of it. I'd give them both thumbs up.

again, this reminded me of the janitor Andrew Garcia last year that sang Straight Up

I liked Carson so much better and like him so much better

"First opportunity to play instruments"

Julie Zorilla on keyboards.
Caleb Hawley on guitar
Colton Dixon on keyboards
Brett Loewenston on guitar
Robbie Rosen on keyboards
Casey Abrams, Melodica player, playing the stand up bass.

"Casey Abrams"

I am seriously in love...

That? was jive.

Good Lord above, me too!

I have watched his performance no less that ten times. I would pay to go watch him any night of the week. Even more, I love his personality. I don't think he'll win, but I sure hope he gets a career out of this!

"RE: First opportunity to play instruments"
Posted by cahaya on 02-17-11 at 09:29 PM
Liked Julie, have an eye on her, too, but not as extraordinary as I had hoped.

I like Loewenston's style.

And as mentioned above, Casey is way cool. As a blues aficionado, I really dug that piece with the bass.

"Robbie Rosen"
Posted by grit on 02-17-11 at 09:33 PM
I suddenly remember where I know this guy from. When my family was at DisneyWorld in August 2009, we saw the American Idol show. He won the show we went to. We missed the finale but according to VFTW he didn't win.

"Jacquiline health issue"

bows out of the competition.

Chelsea left shaken.

Yikes. Not the way you want to leave.

"RE: Jacquiline health issue"
Posted by grit on 02-17-11 at 09:35 PM
Not to be mean but she shouldn't have been there after her performance in the group round. I didn't understand why they put her through.

"RE: Jacquiline health issue"
Posted by cahaya on 02-17-11 at 09:39 PM
True that, I'd written her off last night. Still, it's nice to go out swinging.

Jacquiline may have been so bad in the group round because she wasn't feeling well but didn't know it at the time!

I had to laugh when Chelsea said that Jacquiline was her best friend in the whole world. Didn't they just meet? Kind of glad both of the couples are gone, but Jacqueline looked pretty gray and pasty.

"Lauren Alaina"
Posted by Snidget on 02-17-11 at 09:34 PM
She seems to have a thing for Steven doesn't she. Sang this song during the city auditions.

"Jacob Lusk"
Posted by Snidget on 02-17-11 at 09:35 PM
These judges like it, I think Simon would be calling it self-indulgent.

"RE: Jacob Lusk"
Posted by cahaya on 02-17-11 at 09:38 PM
Self-indulgent, maybe... after all, it's the auditions and you have to stand out.

This guy's performance was genuinely powerful, with incredible range. Reminds me of Big Mike, and I think Jacob might actually be better.

"John Wayne Schulz"
Posted by Snidget on 02-17-11 at 09:37 PM
Isn't that an awfully girly song for a boy raised to be such a manly man. Jennifer joining in.

"Ashley Timebomb Sullivan."
Posted by Snidget on 02-17-11 at 09:39 PM
Dedicated to her boyfriend while he was in Iraq.

Messed up the words, A capella, starting again.

"RE: Ashley Timebomb Sullivan."
Posted by cahaya on 02-17-11 at 09:40 PM
Falls apart again, too.

Alas, she's probably a good singer, she just doesn't have the nerves for the big stage.

"Boys"
Posted by Snidget on 02-17-11 at 09:46 PM
So far this trio not doing that good.

Jacee up, sweet voice, what will happen when puberty hits.

"RE: Boys"
Posted by cahaya on 02-17-11 at 09:47 PM
They pass, but the comp is lookin' tough.

I'm actually a bit surprised how good they're sounding tonight as a whole, with a few really good ones.

Uh Oh, they are subtitling him.

You know that lady that had the seizure/stroke during the Grammys.

Tataisa.

Also being subtitled.

LAST EDITED ON 02-17-11 AT 09:52 PM (EST)

Not even. I'm guessing about a quarter to a third.

I was hoping to hear that Deandre guy who sounded really interesting earlier.

ed. found the guy's name spelling

"RE: AI 10 Hollywood #3: Rooms"
Posted by cahaya on 02-17-11 at 09:53 PM
I think it would be fairly easy to guess which are which.

There are several who are just too good to go.

There are several who are just too bad to stay.

Problem is if you see one of each in the same room.

"RE: AI 10 Hollywood #3: Rooms"
Posted by cahaya on 02-17-11 at 09:57 PM
Room 1 is in. While there were a couple at least that I wondered about (especially the crying girl), most of them did quite well and it was an easy guess they were going on, including the Teddy Bear.

"Split into rooms"
Posted by Snidget on 02-17-11 at 09:59 PM
They can deliver the verdict.

Judges on their way with big news.

Room 1. Ashley's room, Brette, Jacee.

J.Lo. says it is the worst.

Room 1 is Randy going on about talent. J. Lo. tell them that they are all going to the next round.

Robbie Lauren Casey and Austism boy all in this room.

Room 2 hears the excitement.

Brielle in tears, Corey under his coat.

Room 3, Chelsea, one of the brothers we didn't really see much.

Room 2 verdict.

Steven tells them they didn't make it. Randy says doesn't matter how many times told no, everyone gets no before they get yes.

Room 3, same fate. More words of encouragement.

Room 4 unaware, and in silence. We felt your pain, so hard to say, Steven makes Jennifer say they are all going on. Gack.

"RE: Split into rooms"
Posted by cahaya on 02-17-11 at 10:02 PM
Well, they kind of rushed that, didn't they?

I would have been nice to see the groups for about 15-30 seconds each so you could make a guess. As it was, I only could guess room 1 correctly before they rushed on to rooms 2 & 3, without knowing who all was in room 4.

As a whole... not a bad crop this year, I think. Better than the auditions hinted at.

"RE: Split into rooms"
Posted by grit on 02-17-11 at 10:09 PM
So what was the "surprise that nobody sees coming"? That was in the promos with Jun going, "Oh, my God!"

"RE: Split into rooms"
Posted by JessicaRN on 02-18-11 at 00:19 AM
Surprised Ashley, Scottie and John Wayne made it.

There was a heavy set girl in the last room who made it and I swear I've never seen her before.

Sometimes, the editing makes me dislike people and it's not usually the contestants fault. The whole Chris Medina thing calmed down, so that was good. Now I'm over the girl who sings to Steven all of the time, even though she is good.

Not going back to look at all of the names, but am intrigued by Surfer Dude actor from Malibu. He's fun to watch.

Autism boy is very interesting also.

Rest take on the Beatles with 24 hours to lear.

Cuts will be made. Down to the top 24.

Gack! Just the Beatles?

How many versions of Let It Be will we have to listen to?

"RE: More Challenge"

I am enjoying the show more this year. I like the judges and don't miss Kara or Ellen at all. Simon had already checked out last year, I think.

Contestants seem more talented and a lot of the ones still remaining are the very young ones.
