"IE Windows keep shutting"

I am hoping someone can help. Something strange has started happening to my home computer. When I try to open more than one Internet Explorer window, the second opens but the first closes. I suspect this is due to something my kids have done, but have searched through the IE settings and don't see one that might control this.

Any suggestions?

I have antivirus software and spysweeper software, but do they make something to protect the computer from kids!?!?

I hope it turns out to be just a setting, but I have no idea. Kids, whattaya gonna do? Every time we change things to keep ours in line, they eventually figure a way around it.

I find sometimes a system restore will do the trick when you can't think of anything else.

Hey guys

I just wanted to say thanks for your help. I tried the things you suggested, and spent some time digging through the website that was provided. Good stuff all, but no luck.

Yesterday I called Dell tech support, and after about an hour the guy suggested I try chaning an IE setting.
Tools / Internet Options / Advanced / and then uncheck:
Enable third-party browser extensions

I have no idea what this does, or why one would ever want it checked, but unchecking it has worked for me.

thanks again, Dabo and IceCat.
