"Weird Intro"

They dusted off the "search for a superstar". Odd music and pictures, just not the usual bombastic kinda thing.

OK now into more normal intro stuff with the judges and back to weird again.

She reminds me of some of those singers from the '60's. Her fandom would be more centered on older, much older demo. Thinking Diana Ross type of thing

How can Big Mike miss the humidity.

Crystal wants to go back and play with her bass player.

Lee wants that to be me.

Casey also wants to see puppy dogs like Mike and wants to hear people saying y'all.

Top four family on the couch.

Yakking with them.

Also Ryan isn't smiling much when he looks at Lee

If that's the case then that would explain the faces Lee was pulling when they were sitting on the stage during the Ford commercial. He looked absolutely ill or angry. I commented ^up there^

Which would mean they already know when they are *Daughtry sings* Goin' Home.

Crystal--son of even more commentary

Mike--Hang tight for a second.

Lee--Lee is headed back to Chicago as one of the top three.

Yes, yes he is. "Make a Memory" is one of my favourites. Hell, they are all my favourites.

I just said to DH that I finally understand how fans of the Stones and the Beatles feel. I was with Bon Jovi since day one and when Jon said they have now crossed generations, I finally got it. I loved them when they first started and I love them more than 20 years later.

I'm thinking about it. Apparently he's having a concert at the racetrack and a motorcade down a busy street (that won't win him a lot of local fans at 5pm on a Friday, yikes.)

It might be fun to go see all of the hooplah.

"RE: AI9 Top 4 Results Show ECST"
Posted by dragonflies on 05-13-10 at 09:56 AM
I know several people that went to the one in Milwaukee for Gokey. It was held at the Summerfest grounds at the lake front. Total zoo. Thousands and thousands of people showed up.

"RE: AI9 Top 4 Results Show ECST"
Posted by frodis on 05-13-10 at 10:20 AM
I am starting to wonder if maybe I should avoid the hooplah.

The tickets to the concert were sold out before 11pm last night.

I just got an automated phone call from the village telling me that there's an event scheduled Friday and they're closing a bunch of roads between 2pm and 10pm. Some of the roads are major thoroughfares. (I don't think the roads are going to all be closed for the full 8 hours, but that motorcade is scheduled for 4:30, so, happy rush hour!)

The robo-voice on the phone warned me of major delays in the area. It stopped just short of suggesting that I stock up on canned goods and hunker down until the throngs of crazy people abate.

Yikes.

Posted by frodis on 05-13-10 at 12:15 PM
LOL, emy, I love your hatred for Lee.

I wasn't planning on going to the concert (good thing, too, because it sold out very fast.) If I open my windows there's a fair chance I'll hear it anyway.

Still considering the parade.

"RE: AI9 Top 4 Results Show ECST"
Posted by zazzy on 05-13-10 at 03:12 PM
Awwww, it's part of the whole watching AI culture. Take one of those canes with a folding seat and some Sudoku puzzles to noodle on and report back! The roar of the crowd could be worth it.

We want to know if Lee is as "aw, shucks" as he plays on tv.

LAST EDITED ON 05-14-10 AT 12:16 PM (EST)

LOL. I'm old, but not quite at the cane with the folding seat stage, yet.

The concert is at Arlington Park racetrack. From what I understand from local sources, there were 30,000 tickets available. 15,000 of them were free - gone in 12 minutes. The other 15,000 were the regular Arlington Park admission tickets ($6) which get you in for a day at the races, and then you can stay for the concert. Those were also gone by Wednesday evening.

I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old, and the 3 year old has a broken leg. So part of it is logistics - I can't carry both of them, and Arlington is full of stairs.

It's a gorgeous day today so we're going to check out the parade hooplah. I'll take the kids for ice cream in downtown MP and then we'll wait and see. Mr. Fro walked to the train today to avoid driving through (and mowing down) the throngs of crazy people.

Edited because I forgot that Arlington gets #####'ed out.

"RE: AI9 Top 4 Results Show ECST"
Posted by zazzy on 05-14-10 at 12:47 PM
Hey, I didn't mean you were old, I was just imagining having to wait around 3 hours for the parade and that would make anyone's feet hurt!

But a one year old and a three year old changes things, especially with the broken leg on the child. ( poor baby! and poor mom! I feel for you!).

Let us know what the local news and radio say about it!
