New and improved with even more bonus filler. Please keep all discussion of tonight's special guest stars, filler, video packages designed to make you open your wallet and whether or not we get results or not on this thread until someone pries the phones out of people's hands on the West Coast at the end of the show to stop the donations.

I think Ryan already warned he has absolutely no intention of getting this show to end on time, so adjust your recording devices accordingly.

I've already decided not to watch. I'll follow the thread through the night, but there's no way I'm tuning in to so much as a minute of this anti-extravaganza. If I want to watch the performances, I can check out the highlights tomorrow. If I want to hear multi-millionaires beg me for money, the national political conventions aren't that far off. I have my causes: I don't need raw emotional manipulation thrown in my face for two hours. Honestly, my biggest hope for the evening is for Crystal to become so fed up with the show's elimination drama machinations as to quit on the spot -- and it's too low a probability to watch for.

On the other hand, if it happened, it would be the Greatest Episode Ever...

Fine, abandon me in my hour of need.

Instaprediction:

If Tim is the lowest vote getter they will eliminate him tonight, no charity for you. Anyone else, they'll scare them to try to get Timmy out in a double elimination next week.

It seems cruel to make us listen to Andrew's lip-synch attempts again. And just a little weird to have all twelve of them together. I don't smell a twist, but if Ryan announces we're about to have an extra vote for bringing someone back in, I'm gonna be mega-pissed.

Dim the lights. Too dark, then too bright. Disco lights. Dim the lights to the right amount.

All idols stand up, sit down and relax. Time for someone to judge the judges for a change.

Over to center stage.

Dim the lights. Lopez riffs on the judges.

Neither in the bottom three today.

The person in the bottom three is Casey. Crystal you are safe.

Aaron and Lee.

One in the bottom three, the other is safe.

Hmmmm....let me guess.

The person who moves on is...Lee

Aaron in the bottom three.

But at least we don't get the two groups of three ruse tonight with the 7th person having to choose between them.

I don't think Casey's going to perform the season's second major one-week freefall. And with VFTW adding one extra table scrap to Tim's plate, this feels like Aaron's week to head out.

It's someone's victory. I'm not sure it's Tim's.

"RE: Results some more"

Not the best rendition of Stairway to Heaven I've heard, but I'd still pay to watch this band in concert.

"RE: 10:09 Pasadena Elton John"
Posted by byoffer on 04-21-10 at 10:17 PM
Just my opinion, but for Elton to say "Everyone needs to be tested for AIDS" is irresponsible.

Everyone needs to practice safe sex, and people who have not been safe should get tested, but everyone doesn't need an AIDS test. Has Elton become so removed from society that he fails to realize that many people (probably the vast majority of the population in North America) lead lives that are safe from AIDS??

"RE: 10:09 Pasadena Elton John"
Posted by Snidget on 04-21-10 at 10:21 PM
Well not a lot of people are virgins and only have sex with the other virgin they had their first experience with and neither person strays.

Sadly a lot of people who probably should be tested don't really understand the risk they are being exposed to so occasional testing probably isn't a bad idea for most everyone.

"RE: 10:09 Pasadena Elton John"
Posted by cahaya on 04-21-10 at 10:21 PM
I think it was implied that if you felt you are at risk at all, then get tested. Indeed, it would be irresponsible not to get tested if you've taken chances with the possibility of being exposed to it through not practicing safe sex. I agree, though, he was in a bit of jumble with that - he couldn't even cite the web site properly.

"RE: 10:09 Pasadena Elton John"
Posted by Snidget on 04-21-10 at 10:25 PM
Even though there was next to no chance I was infected I got tested awhile back.

There was a needle stick accident with one of my allergy shot needles and I didn't want the nurse to have to worry. I didn't have to be tested, but even if the next to no chance was zero chance I still would have given her the peace of mind that I wasn't just saying I wasn't.

"RE: 10:09 Pasadena Elton John"
Posted by byoffer on 04-21-10 at 10:25 PM
I think it was implied

On a night when they spent eleventy-three hours telling us that there are lots of illiterate people in the US? Implying something like that might be a stretch.

"RE: 10:09 Pasadena Elton John"
Posted by cahaya on 04-21-10 at 10:32 PM
Although he could have responded to the question of 'what should you should do?' more accurately, it was pretty obvious he was asked the question without any warning or prior rehearsal. I had actually expected him to suggest making a contribution rather than make a statement about getting tested.

Thanks for posting that, Vince.

A friend of mine from high school, a severe hemophiliac, got AIDS from a transfusion and died. It was so sad, because he had struggled with hemophilia all his life yet blossomed despite it.

I think EJ meant well, despite sounding extreme that everyone needs an HIV test.

I thought there would be more backlash to his mentioning that everyone should wear con-doms (the English way of saying it maybe made it more palatable in delivery ;) ).

I spent this whole performance moaning about how he can't sing anymore. I know aging is inevitable, but I cringed for him a couple times. Saw him in Seattle around 1982 and he had such a beautiful voice... I'm just a little sad, I guess (and old!)

The handwriting was on the wall when it came down to Casey and Tim. With the show running way late, the poor guy didn't get a sing off, but perhaps that's just as well for him - and us.

While not unexpected (Tim stayed a lot longer than his performances early on would've indicated), I'm going to miss him. He's grown on me over the weeks. Personally I'd prefer to see either Big Mike or Aaron go over Tim . . . oh well!

Thanks to all of you for being there! Darn Fox for going so far over!

I agree. Tim was just nice all the time...and humble. Casey and Mike bug me. Aaron is cute, but don't think he can win. Can't believe I'll miss Tim!

LAST EDITED ON 04-22-10 AT 05:28 PM (EST)

I was disappointed in this year's IGB show.

It seemed like they gave the show to an intern and told them to study the last two IGB's and do what they can. And that Carrie was a lock to perform, they didn't have to have the winner from season 8 on because Carrie would do; David Cook put in what was the Daughtry appearance in the previous 2 seasons; Alicia is with the same label that 19 does business with, right? Annie Lenox, too?

Ugh, Russell B and Jonah H being lame instead of Ben Stiller or Robin Williams. At least they had a movie to promote but they were really bad and a TOTAL WASTE OF TIME.

Cramming in the results was shoddy; it made me not want to support IGB (that probably sounds petty but I've been upset with them since the last one where they booted MJ after asking so sweetly for $$ the night before). I'm not a grinch; direct donation to the Red Cross works for me.

I'm disliking listening to multimillionaires/billionaires telling us why we need to give $. I know it's customary but then I think about Gates' behemouth house or Simon's car collection and the $$ he dropped on his 50th bday party last year and I wish they would buy a clue.

Maybe if someone more humble were doing the asking. Out of ideas at the moment.

Even the number with the idols fell really flat. And we know it's prerecorded. Weak song choice.

In summary; something seemed "off" last night.

Wonder if the contributions were as well.

Intern, indeed. They totally wrecked the Stairway to Heaven cinematography. Here you have master guitarists Steve Vai on a double-axe and Orianthi playing lead, along with Travis Barker on the drums, with Blige singing, and the camera worked was *totally* off track. An opportunity for a classic 100,000+ view youtube video just went down the tubes.
