Please keep all discussion of who goes to the 'Heartbreak Hotel' tonight and any filler that makes you want to run away to 'Blue Hawaii' on this thread until after the West Coast is done crying or celebrating from seeing the results for themselves.

No sig pics or other graphics, please. They make Kara want to take off her clothes when the cameras are around. *shudder*

Stay tuned after the credits for Randy's one-time-only ultra-special Elvis tribute!

(It's taken him years to arrange having his heart attack while on a toilet.)

Ryan coming down the stairs of doom.

34 million votes last night. Highest this season.

Lot to back in. Brooke and Adam performing. Double Elimination (in case you forgot)

Intro the judges.

This marks the first time they've mentioned the votes for a given week instead of a grand total, right? Looks like they finally have a number they're happy with -- but with the double elimination looming, everyone rallied. I'm guessing the number drops next week, and possibly by A Lot.

Yup, first time all season the magic number's been given.

And Idol returned to the top of the ratings last night:
Time Network Show Viewers 18-49
8PM FOX American Idol 17.75 6.3/19
ABC Dancing with the Stars 12.70 2.5/8

And I was asking myself how they found time to rehearse this in the midst of all else they're doing.

"RE: Group Sing"
Posted by Snidget on 04-14-10 at 09:10 PM
I think that is why they went to recorded versions. Not that they have enough time to even get that to sound decent.

At least when it was live the poor singing with no where near enough rehearsal time made more sense.

Casey (bottom row)
Aaron (top row)
Andrew (top row)

Come to center of the stage--reviewing the three

Is Andrew wearing a plaid bow tie that matches his shirt?

Andrew, this is the end of the road.

Shot of Lee being sad.

He gets to sing us out with I think his choice of song. Can't remember which one it is.

"RE: Results 1"
Posted by cahaya on 04-14-10 at 09:16 PM
Andrew out with a quick curt end of the road statement, no surprise.

Aaron grabbing a seat? That's something of a surprise. Suddenly, a few of the other contestants' seats get a little hotter.

*nods* If Aaron's safe and we keep up with Crystal's no-sweat policy plus Lee's autovotes, then I think Katie's father can start panicking now -- along with Siobhan, Tim, and possibly Michael again.

Kinda wonder now how they're going to polish off the remaining six. Take 3 and make them safe and then one out of the last 3? Take 3, stand one aside, take the next 3 and stand another aside and then make it a run-off of the two standing?

"RE: Results 1"

Well... they take 6, make 3 safe, leaving it to one to go out of the last group of 3.

Can we skip the farewell song on this one?

We can't?

Well, there's a last time for pretty much everything, including musical torture. In the words of Mel Brooks, goodbye, so long, farewell, get out.

Does anyone have last night's results show on a tape or DVR? I'm almost positive that after Andrew sang, Ryan said something like another contestant, blah, blah, blah, "She will be leaving us tonight" or something to that effect.

The thing that caught my ear was the use of either "she" or "her" but now, after a couple of glasses of wine and a night's sleep, I can't remember.

Anyone?

This is what I heard this morning: "One more person will also see their Idol journey come to a close."

Of course it could have been fixed before it was shown on the west coast.

thanks Capn2patch

Anyone with an East coast taping?

East Coast: "their".

This was right after Andrew said thank you for getting to be on the show.

Brooke has ALWAYS had a way of getting on my nerves, and tonight was no different! Geez, I just do not like this woman!! Her singing? EH-ok, and all that. But I just do not like BW!!
Idonotlikebrookewhite! What can I say.......so glad she was eliminated at, what? 7 or 8?? And hardly do we hear or see anything about her.

I never got her much, either.

She went out fifth her season, S7, over Michael Johns and Carly Smithson.

Aaron and Casey are safe (to clarify that)

Bottom row on the stages (everyone but Casey and Aaron)

Lee--
Siobhan--
Katie--
Michael--
Crystal--
Tim--

After 34 million votes

Crystal--you are safe
Siobhan--you are safe
Lee--one of the songs Chris did when he was eliminated--Walk with me...have a seat you are safe.

Katie, Michael, Tim slide to center stage.

One of them will go home after Adam takes the stage, Live.

We didn't even see him the entire beginning of that performance, all shadowed in a swirl of laser streaks and clouds.

And Siobhan just had to be green with envy at that last screamer note he let out.

I was beginning to think they hadn't been able to control him - or were afraid of what he might do - so they thought it best just to keep him slightly concealed. IYKWIM

Just caught up with my DVD recordings, and of AI from last nite.

Lambert was brilliant. Over the top, but he pulls it off with such skill that it's breathtaking, IMO. What a show, very Las vegas'ey, and very mature for such a young guy.

He's loud, but so are rock stars, opera stars and some stage performers. No one I ever heard seriously criticize Ethel Merman (for instance) for being too loud. As far as these ears (mine) can tell, he hits every note perfectly, at whatever volume he goes for.

And his staging is so outrageous.

Thank you America LOL - I am done with this show! I knew this would happen, they use a ridiculous judges save that should not exist last week and this week my two favorite contestants are eliminated because of it. Have fun watching your Michael Lynch (who was voted off and SHOULD be gone) I will not be watching!!

I haven't seen the show--it's in the DVR--so thanks for the recap!

From what I've read, the only thing we know about the votes is that Andrew and Katie were at the bottom.

Ryan never showed us a real B3 (4).

So, why did they pull Michael back into a seeming B3 only to then proclaim that he wasn't in the remaining B3?

Was one of their favs (Lee?) vulnerable so they did the Michael is at risk ruse?

ETA: that leaves two people who have been in the b3-Aaron and Michael. Both are on track to go next time because the fan save has already been activated after last week.

I'm still guessing there is no elimination next week, only a dramatic b3, with thre first one "safe" and then the b2 quaking that they are going home with the "no one's going home" flourish.

They will be asking for donations next Wednesday. Hard to motivate the fans if you boot their fav while asking people to reach into their pockets.

So, who is dragged into the real or fake b3 next week?

Sadism.

There's also an accompanying chance (the sadism is a certainty) that they hid the real B3 candidate to keep that fanbase from rallying -- no one ever said officially Tim was in the bottom either. So if they've decided, say, that Siobhan's run is done, they could scare Tim's backers and hide her vote total with a simple 'safe'.
