"The Apprentice #3 Episode #16 East Coast Spoiler Thread"

Please keep all discussion of tonight's episode on this thread until those on the West Coast have had a chance to see it. Migawd. How many times have we said that? Sixteen? Really? And it's not over? Even though tonight's being billed as the finale, it's still not over? Every publication is saying there's going to be another episode on the 19th, which will probably be the live hiring, reunion show, and home of the Dunk Chris booth, which I've been saving money for over the last four months? Really? And next season will have twice the number of contestants and triple the episode count? How very interesting. I think I'll go to Trump Tower and tell Donald just how interesting I think it is. In great detail. By the way, is an automatic weapon considered to be an exclamation mark?

As opposed to Chris, Kristen, and Michael, who are really off.

The dunk Chris booth could be dangerous, because his head would turn the water to steam from 50 feet away, and he might get hurt.

I guess, everyone's body is about, what, 60-70% water (sans The Donald, that is 60-70% ego), so I guess everyone would be dead by now.

So, Kristen delegates brochures turns into Kristen delegates event and Tana is babysitter between the three. Christ, it's like telling the 7 year old to watch over the house, and then mediating between the 7 year old and the two 6 year olds.

Kendra is talking with Michael to fix the Sony room - 'put this stuff somewhere and make it look nice.' Michael assures her he can handle it. She says if she was Sony she'd be upset too, the room smells like feet.

Tana and Kristen are talking about the marketing brochure. The guys are hanging banners, it's close enough. Kristen comes in starts telling them they're doing it wrong, Brian says they're find, Kristen says the banners are supposed to hang in certain places, Brian says they ain't moving 'em. (whew). Tana comes in and all the children start bickering, how is she supposed to get anything done with the team fighting all the time?

Pasting the briefing book into the pass-out word for word isn't exactly winning her much in the way of common sense points, is it? 'Do not tell Bruce Jenner that he looks like the 'after' warning sign for plastic surgery addiction. Oh, and he won some medal somewhere.'

I've seen Bruce Jenner in person. He was standing a couple of feet away from me while waiting for a dinner reservation at a restaurant at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge a couple of years ago.

He is even scarier in person. Plastic Man.

Tana wakes her team at 6am to go over to the arena to go over the to do list and make sure everything is ready. She's p!ssed they aren't ready and, frankly, is talking to them like they are all 5 years old.

Kendra and her team head over the Webster Hall. They are putting a boxing ring in the middle of the ballroom to highlight the game they are premiering, 'Fight Night 2'. She takes Amy down to check out Sony Playstation area, Amy says they won't pull sponsorship, Kendra tells Amy they will direct everyone downstairs between breaks in the boxing match. George is impressed how Kendra communicated with the Sony execs.

Tana says she will be talking with the big names and is trusting her team to take care of all the details. Kristen tries to bring Tana up to date on something but Tana shoos her off. Chris brings up to Tana that she hasn't put anyone in charge of directing the event. Chris wants Tana to win so he's working his butt off. Gov. Pataki's aide meets with Tana, wants a schedule and briefing. Tana has nothing to show him, he doesn't look pleased. The schedule isn't done, the banners aren't hung, no one is greeting the athletes, where does the luggage go? Tana knkows no details, wonders why no one is complimenting her job. The brochure is bad, all kinds of information on how high maintenance the athletes are. They have to pull all the printing, everything is out of control. Tana is asking the Governor's aide what she is supposed to do.

Well, I wonder if Kendra is getting the positive edit and Tana is getting the negative one, or they are just this bad/good.

Hahaha, Kristen printed the athlete's personality traits verbatim. Mwhahahaha. That's what you get for delegating Kristen the leadership role. The other two suck, but she got fired on a task where the opposing team made cucumber pornography. This is brillant.

Is it scary, that in our very small showing so far of the Olympic task, Chris is looking like the one with his head on the straightest?

You've got Material, all right -- and NYC may get to blame Tana for losing the Games. Wonder how the West Side Stadium people feel about this?

Haha.

Oh, I'm thrilled. I got an Apprentice Summary and I got the disaster area which could cost NY the Olympics, which would make some people happy, most a bit depressed. But the material is what is important. Of course, for suffering through that catastrophe (and The Casino), I better get some college credit or something to put on that application. This is an extracirricular activity.

Donald pulls into Chelsea Pier. He greets the Governor, Tana greets him, introduces herself to Governor Pataki. The athletes are greeting Donald Trump. Tana seems to be more concerned about being in the presence of the athletes than making sure things are being done. The Gov is asking what he’s supposed to do, Tana isn’t sure. They can’t find the American flag for the Gov to carry, maybe it’s in the back somewhere? Carolyn has her usual dour look on her face, so you can’t really tell what she’s thinking.

The parade of children carrying national flags begins. Bruce Jenner is the MC. The Gov notices there is no American flag in the procession. Donald says that is a big mistake. The athletes are performing, there is a lot of ooohing and aaahing and clapping. Chris is trying to coordinate times with the athletes. Tana asks the starter if they can take a break, he says Chris told him they were to start at 1:05, Tana says that is a mistake. Carolyn says if she were to ask Tana how things were going she would blame her team, which is obviously a bad move. Tana is blaming Chris for trying to tell her how to do her job when he’s asking her questions about what to do next. She’s crowing to Bruce Jenner that everything went to smoothly and she will be the next Apprentice.

Wow, that's impressive. I mean, her event was more low matainance then, say, Tana's. However, the set looked fantastic, the boxing ring was a great touch, everything worked. Very interesting that we didn't see Danny or Erin much at all during the task, yet we saw all three of Tana's flunkies a lot.

I think Tana blew it. Namely, she delegated meaningless crap and forgot the things that make an event on this shw: namely a set and punctual schedule, along with everything being in place.

Things are hopping at Webster Hall. George made Carolyn laugh. Kendra is walking Amy from Sony through the schedule, she introduces herself to the rapper who will be the MC. Carolyn asks Amy how it’s going, she says it’s great, people playing the games, good signage. Kendra wants a spotlight on DT when he arrives. Donald introduces Fabulous, the MC, from the middle of the boxing ring. DT rings the bell to start the gaming championship. They had a huge screen over the boxing ring, smaller plasma TV’s everywhere, people get to take turns sitting in the boxing ring playing the game. Even DT’s playing. (Typical MB cross-promotion, I’m surprised Stallone and Sugar Ray aren’t there.) Kendra says he goal was to make the sponsors happy and she feels she did that.

Back at Chelsea Pier, Tana is saying goodbye to her team, she thinks it’s best to let her employees walk ahead of her and she can be the boss and walk behind. They walk out without turning to wave to Tana. She says the truth is, she did it on her own, there was no love. (She is a mass of delusion, this one is.) She is so proud of how great she did, she’s already planning to go home to Iowa and starat packing.

Best Buy tells Kendra if Donald doesn’t hire her, they will, she did a great job. Her whole team is hugging and telling her they are proud of her. I’m sure at least part of her tears are stress that it’s finally over. Her team walks her to the limo and they all say goodbye, Danny offers to close the door for her, they all wave as she drives out. It was great to work with people who believed in her.

Kendra and Tana are back at the suite. Should they start crying, Kendra says she already has. Kendra says because her team was so great. Tana says she didn’t have that experience. They are in the bathroom getting ready for bed, talking about the experiences with their teams. Kendra is asking Tana a question when Tana just walks away and goes to bed.

What a contrast between Kendra and Tana. While Tana puts on the happy I'm so sweet voice and face, her interviews really give away the type person she is. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing but it seems that streetsmarts are more cutthroat because that's the only way they've made it to where they are while book smarts realizes the advantage of teamwork and if you dont have or know the answer, the next best thing is to find someone who does.

Kendra wins this thing hands down. Tana was cooked at the donuts comment about the governor in my book.

You know, if this were even close in comparison of the events, Tana could say she had a difficult team and get some help. This situation, it's a pure excuse. If they switched teams, it would have been the same exact thing. The difference is, Tana delegated major responsibility (namely the brouchures and some of the show) to her team (which is fine if they are the top players, not this case), and Kendra delegated minor responsibility. While Kristen and co. were making the introductory handouts to say what is happening, Michael and co. were moving kiosks.

I found it very telling that when Tana's team tried to (a) tell her what was happening or (b) ask her a question, she waved them away and didn't want to know what they were doing, just get it done. Then she blamed Chris for deciding to start the track meet on his own. She's going to blame her team when she made no effort to keep track of what was going on.

What an interesting boardroom. They're having to work very hard to find some things to knock Kendra for. Not so much with Tana. The education thing was already against her but the three stooges and other comments are going kick her in the a$$.

Donald still doesn't seem to think Tana can handle difficult people. She knows how to run with the wolves???? Ummm...it's run with the Bulls. At least everytime I've heard it.

They're tryin to hard to make it look like they haven't already hired Kendra but if Kendra doesn't win this thing, Donald is on drugs.

Tana is packing, she has a perfect life but she wants more. Kendra is packing and wants this more than anything. Tana feels like she has an edge because she’s had to work for everything she has. Kendra says she’s the whole package. Tana says it’s black and white, she’s a shark in a guppy outfit. Kendra says this is her final showdown.

The Boardroom. Donald says it’s interesting that they have ended up with one BookSmart and one StreetSmart. Donald asks Tana how she led, she says as best she could. Carolyn comments how she talked about her team, she was condescending to them, brings up the situation with Chris and the track meet. Tana says Chris was a free-for-all. Carolyn brings up brochure, why didn’t Tana proofread, Tana says that was Kristen’s duty. Donald asks why no American flag in procession, she says she assumed it would be provided.

Donald turns to Kendra, asks how her team performed. She says they worked better for her than before, did a great job. Donald says her team loved working for her, she felt good that she inspired them. Donald asks about the sponsors, she says they were happy. George asks why she wasn’t in the first meeting, she says she didn’t know the meeting had begun. Donald says she should have known Danny was a loose cannon and watched him, she said from that moment onward she watched him closely.

Donald asks Tana if not being highly educated would be a liability for her work for him. Tana says no, Kendra says it should because she didn’t finish. Tana attended 3 years but didn’t finish to get married and have children. He asks Tana if she believes she can handle New York people, yes she can. Kendra says she deals with tough people every day, a lot of the people she deals with are from New York. Tana has what it takes because she’s strong, doesn’t frazzle easily, has a killer instinct and can handle it.

He asks Kendra if she’s better than Tana, she says she’s better suited than Tana, she’s the total package, the only person to win 3 times, longest winning streak – 9, Tana’s only loss is to Kendra.

Donald congratulates them both for getting this far, asks them to wait outside. Carolyn thinks they are both very strong, Tana is very nice, Kendra has overall led her team very well. George agrees both very strong, they were both given difficult tasks and handled them well.

The six employees from the tasks come off the elevate and are escorted into the Boardroom.

I knew from last week that Carolyn was going to pick up on hte "three stooges" remarks and it came back to haunt her. Kendra decided to deal with the hand she was dealt and not dwell on it.

But here is what is going to be the death of Tana---DT does not people to contradict themselves, especially in a very big way. Tana says that having a family was more important than completing one more year of an education. Fair enough. However, she turns around not 2 minutes later and says that she left her family behind in order to become the Apprentice. That really does not sound good for her. It really makes one question her loyalties.

Tana sounded very nervous and upset when she asked Donald if she could change her team, and then she stupidly gave them total responsibility of their individual tasks without any supervision, so she would have someone else to blame if something went wrong.
Tana is immature and disrespectful, no matter what she thought of her team, to call them "The Three Stooges" in front of Carolyn showed bad judgement. She showed her immaturity on another episode when she kept making comments about being around "black people", like she never saw an African American before.
Kendra did a great job with the Pontiac sports car presentation,
even though Tana left her in the lurch and went to sleep instead of helping her. I am so glad Kendra's creative talents were showcased in that episode, and she did it all herself, without any assistance from her teammates.
Congratulations and Good Luck Kendra, you deserve to be "The Apprentice."

If Kendra doesn't win this thing, I'm going to be incredibly shocked. This would be like Lillian beating Sandra in the S7 finale.

I do think that Tana's task was a little more demanding than Kendra's, but not that much. Tana's inability to effectively communicate a timeline made her task look much more unorganized than it had to be. I can forgive not having an American flag. I mean, if you open a box labeled "World Flags," you should expect an American flag to be in there!

Kendra balanced the Bill/Kwame divide perfectly. She micromanaged and took an active role in the setup and design of the program, but she was able to delegate the minor details effectively.

For Kendra, the win is in the bag. And she deserves it.

This show is so friggin' bogus. First they bring on one black male who they know from the first interview cannot string 2 sentences together in a coherent fashion, now they show us Tana making some admittedly major mistakes... but Kendra was PERFECT?

While I would go with Kendra because of her respect for the dignity of her staff -- and abhore Tana's disrespect and nasty disparagement of her staff -- I resent this 'editing' insult to my intelligence. It is so obvious that they are setting Kendra up for the win. I only hope they do not give Tana a public flogging next week like they did Jen C last season. I am insulted and disgusted by the editorial bias of this show.

"RE: The Apprentice #3 Episode #16 East Coast Spoiler Thread"

Honestly I feel exactly the same way you do lrlr1.

I don't dislike Kendra, and going into this final task I wouldn't have minded either of them wining. But this was just so obvious, and despite all the mistakes that Tana did it wasn't like the event was a failure or anything, it had its problems certainly though.

Obviously Chelsea Piers didn't collapse or anything so there was no reason not to show Tana doing things right, which they didn't, I mean they spent enough time showing her. And finally, I know that not having an American Flag is rather glaring in this regards, but why in the world did the box of world flags NOT have one, that seems just like Bill and the "lost" Chrysler signs in the box hidden behind the dumpster.

So basically I don't have a problem with Kendra winning, I just don't see the need to portray Tana as a complete idiot at the same time.

OK, what have we got??!! Another season that insults the intelligence and tries the patience of everyone watching. OMG I have to take a shower.

It's like they took Tana aside and said, "OK. Here's the deal: We're gonna have Kendra win. We're gonna make you look really, really bad, and we want you to play along with it. You can diss your team, you can claim that you won, just give us some histrionics. We're sorry that it's gonna make you look bad, but we promise (wink, wink, fingers crossed behind back) we'll make it up to you."

I stopped watching mid-season and I'm sorry I jumped back in.

Like Harrison said, this game is fundamentally flawed. The only way to save it is to change the entire story board. Back to square one.

If I were Donald Trump I wouldn't show my face about this show ever again.

Good Luck, Kendra. You'll need it.

Now pardon me while I go puke.

"Tana mean to Kendra in the boardroom?"

Did anyone else think that when Tana said that Kendra left nothing that it was mean and degrading? It made it seem like Kendra has no friends or loved ones and does not work. After this episode, my level of respect for Tana has dropped from 0 to -500.

I wouldn't be offended, but I agree that it was desperate. She was drowning in there and had to say something in her defence.

Personally I think they both stink.

With that said,I think Tana wasn't nearly as bad as everyone thinks. I noticed that people behind the scenes said this and that and were confused but at the end of the day if you looked at the events and the athletes, the finished product is what counts. Everyone there seemed to be having a great time. Who is really going to notice that minor thing in the brochure and the American flag was totally not her fault. Anyone would assume that there would be a US flag "World Flags". They are just trying to make her look bad. As far as her group, give me a break what group would you pick? You would be an absolute fool to say it was even.

Kendra, wow I could have ran that task. Honestly what did she do? All she had to do was decorate the stupid room which she just delegated. She didn't have to worry about different events and athletes and the governor and all of that. She had to set up video games and then let what video game geeks do, play games! All she had to do was make the Playstation people happy with the setup.

Bottom line is Kendra seems like an immature baby, who is annoying and whines, and has to get her way. Kendra is the type of person that would be good at helping major tasks but not being in charge. Tana on the other hand, I don't really like her either but at least she is 100% honest! She tells the truth straight up, I would much more want that. Tana is more of a salesperson and I'm interested to see the kind of job the winner would get.

I still think this season was extremly weak and neither deserves the job. I would have taken Jen M from last season anyday over those two. Plus she was smoking.

I think what Tana meant was that as a single person, Kendra has more flexability to pick herself up & go. Tana had to get the backing & OK of her husband & kids to be able to go for TA. I don't think that Tana meant it as a dig.

Tana is right. She was given a bunch of boobs who can't fight their way out of a riped paper bag. She delegated to them the the jobs that would not involve too much exposure to the people that had to be pleased. Unfortunatly, because of who they all were, Tana had to play Mommy more. Kristen couldn't care less, Chris ignored her, & Brian was being himself, just a boor. Chris & Brian may be self made millionares, but they probably got there by doing things their own way & not having to be managed by someone. I also think that Tana was given this team as a set up to fail.

Tana did lose professionalism at the point her team was assigned to her. After that, I didn't believe anything about anything. I personally think the whole thing was scripted, with Tana in collusion with all of the d!ldos connected to the show (pardon the word. I am still royally p!ssed off.)
