"Last Night's 24 Redux"

Okay. We finally got through the singing plot, and it looked like things were back to normal. But no – last night we have some diversion again. The first half, with the press conference with Senator Keely. Sheesh! Come on, could casting find some actor who at least looked presidential and could at least deliver his lines with some bit of style? And what’s with all the evasiveness? There’s no way the viewing public would believe this guy could win an election over anyone, let alone David Palmer. Why, the only way this moron would ever become president would be if, oh, I don’t know, the Supreme Court decided to make him president. And we all know that would never happen.

But it was the second part of the show that really had me puzzled? What’s with the time travel thing? Suddenly 24 is set in Wisconsin in the 70s? And couldn’t they have found better actors to portray our younger cast? The clumsy guy with long hair was too tall to be playing chase, though he did have the clumsy part down good. And Gael as a vaguely Indian guy? (And isn’t he dead, anyway?) The girl playing Nina (also dead – hello?) as a full of herself egotist was okay.

All in all, another serious decline for what has been one of the best hours on television.
