"Pirate Master Episode 3 East Coast Spoiler Thread"

Please keep all sigpic-free discussions about tonight's exciting exhibition of how not to be a Captain by JD (or anyone else...) until the West Coast has a chance to view the awsomeness..... That should be around Midnight, EDT tonight.

I'm posting this early because I'm about to go out and see my grandmother with my aunt(her sister-in-law), and when we went out on Monday, I didn't get back until exactly 8:00........... so I'm not gonna take any chances today.

The "pirates" cannot seem to decide if this is a roleplaying game or a strategy/elimination game.

That, or most of them are just plain stupid.

And given all the revenge talk, some of them think they're playing Big Brother.

Joe Don tried, but he couldn't keep the wood up.

Not a surprise.

And like a true sailing man, he'll blame the rum.

Sean was able to keep the wood up, at least long enough for everybody to finish.

He is a bartender, so he knows about the rum.

Risky move, trying to support a single piece of wood that long without knowing how the rest of the group would collapse around him, but he managed to maintain a firm stance.

Here come a lot of story arcs: Alexis is lazy (and easily confused), Jupiter is creative (and doomed, because she just talked about 'the experience'), and Azmyth is getting a little too much respect for his own long-term good.

Looks like the whole expeditionary crew has to be at the sabotage point before they can trigger it. Sensible: you don't want to slow down your own team. On the other hand, if you're the trailing group, you probably don't want to be so close than you're in the middle of the thing when it collapses. Oh, ow...

And we have our first nominee for most useless pirate. Alexis (I think that is who it was I don't care that much about any of them).

Gets out and wanders away from the boat than can't keep up with the team on the trail.

Poopert the Pirate must be really disapointed he wasn't invited on this little adventure, though America did eventually vote him a pity million after A.S.S.

My thought exactly... like there's some kind of magic in that hat that suddenly transforms their character.

First the Mask, now the Pirate Hat!

Azmyth is playing for the long term: keep the crew happy, and if he's ousted as captain, they're that much less likely to turn against him for power abuse. Admittedly, they just might turn against him for accent abuse.

Long segment there. I kept waiting for a commercial break that didn't come.

Give AZmouth some credit for seeing that the way to keep them happy was spreading the loot (which I think he only did among the red team). If he was perceptive enough to do that, don't ya think he'd pick up on the ...10th clue in one hour now...that his accent is annoying?!?!

As opposed to most of the crew, who have none... Oh, and nice respect for the F/X dead there.

Did you know that Cheryl is a district attorney?!

I don't think that she has ever mentioned that before.

Did you know Alexis thinks the rest of the world has to adjust to fit her?

And if you didn't already know she worked in fashion, that would have given it away.

Alexis at pirate's court:

I ain't gonna be anything but surly. Now keep me or eat $#!&.

Geez, I wonder if that will sway them?!?! Shame she had to go. She had the 2nd most interesting "look" on the show.

I understand Jay's reasoning for himself. But I wanted Azmyth to black spot Joe Don. So I wish Jay had kept quiet.

Oh, come on -- promises made on family members have been broken. On children, on parents, on grandmothers (dead and otherwise) -- and now Jay expects one to be kept because it was made on money? Harsh lesson ahead...

Alexis, Laurel, Cheryl. Will we even notice when the loser goes out?

I missed it last week. Giving it another chance tonight.

I see the players haven't gotten any brighter with Sean being "stuck between a rock and a hard stone".

Yeah, well sadly I haven't gotten any smarter either because I'm still not getting the strategy of this game.

But what the hell, I'll give it another shot next week.

"RE: Pirate Master Episode 3 East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by Estee on 06-14-07 at 08:57 PM
I'm not sure anyone's gotten the strategy of this game. I understand Azmyth's reasons for dumping Alexis, but this was almost a Rob/Lex moment. 'Thanks for not breaking up my alliance, brother. You are so dead.'

"Just realized."

Filming confessionals, at least as we've seen them, would be a serious problem. It's hard to get privacy on the ship and taking people to shore removes them from the work/gossip circuit for too long. Some of these confessionals were probably shot in a dedicated room on the ship, with an island or deck backgrounds added later.

How did he know to divide his treasure in such a way that every share would be worth a modern US dollar amount that was divisible by five thousand?

"RE: The amazing Captain Steele"
Posted by vince3 on 06-14-07 at 08:35 PM
and especially have the total treasure equal $1 million Modern US dollars......

Come on...anyone bright enough to bury 15 treasures and leave them ALL intact for 200 years would obviously be able to do that.

Geez, get off of Capt. Crunch. He even dropped a chest with 15 compartments each, with two sets of maps. AND he had the good sense to make sure they would survive until a bunch of DAWs would film it in 2007!

Cheryl gives a good speech, but then Joe Don jumps in to defend her. If I were voting, that would be enough to undo whatever Cheryl said and cause me to vote for her as a proxy for Joe Don.

Tie vote! Captain chooses Alexis to set adrift.

"In Case of ties in Pirate's Court"
Posted by vince3 on 06-14-07 at 08:40 PM
The Captain breaks the tie and casts the adrifting vote.

Cheryl and Alexis tie at 4 each

Azmyth decides to cut Alexis adrift since Cheryl is the stronger female and you just *might* need strength on the treasure expeditions, especially if you're defending your rank as captain!

Major twist #1 is in next week's treasure chest!

I'm still on the fence concerning my feelings for this show. Do I hate it? Do I like it? One things for sure, there are plenty of corny moments. I guess normal people acting as pirates really does seem somewhat elementary nowadays.

Azmyth is certainly an interesting character....I think? During the past two episodes I've come to notice him and wanted to see him as a character to watch until the whole English accent came about. Louie has it right....that captain's hat must be laced with crack that seeps into their heads. I honestly don't know how anyone could really manage to have a discussion with the guy doing that voice. I surely would have laughed. Louie is another character that I enjoy watching. He seems well liked but with very little pull over the others. He may want to pull his sleeve down and keep his strategy more protected.

Did anyone else in the Seattle area happen to see the ten second blip of a commercial featuring Azmyth "from Pirate Master"? It was an advertisement for his mother's furniture store in Snohomish, I think! (I wish I would have taped it! It was over so quickly!)
