Yes, another repeat theme, but usually a fun one. Although this season, when the theme is 'wide open' things haven't gone as well as the more narrow themes. We'll see.

Welcome to the 80's. Here are the years:

Adam Lambert - January 29, 1982
Allison Iraheta - April 27, 1992
Anoop Desai - December 20, 1986
Danny Gokey - April 24, 1980
Kris Allen - June 21, 1985
Lil Rounds - November 14, 1984
Matt Giraud - May 11, 1985
Megan Corkrey - August 5, 1985
Scott MacIntyre - June 22, 1985

This could be fun. Let's start with Adam because he's the oldest and also because he's who everybody is waiting for next Tuesday already because of.

Wow, I don't remember 1985 being full of that much craptastic music.

Honestly, he should do the last one. "Edge Of Seventeen" by Stevie Nicks.

Shame. If Adam was born the year I was born, he could sing "Space Oddity".

And then we could finally put this awful show to bed forever.

1966. And the group was the Shadows of Knight.

The Outsiders did "Time Won't Let Me" -- same year.

Wow it's been so long since I posted that I can't find my old password. Oh well I heart Adam! He could pull of about anything. Not sure if they are limited to the Top 100 hits of the year or not, but from this list here are a few I would love to see him do.

Kids In America (Kim Wilde)

Before Kim Wilde became a disco diva she did this song. It's uptempo and new wavey with a bit of an edge. Love this song!

Physical (Olivia Newton-John)

Okay this song sucks but Adam could do it in a way that would totally make Middle America squirm. And who doesn't like seeing Middle America squirm?

Hurt So Good (Joun Cougar)

Another one done Adam style that could really make Middle America uncomfortable!

Our Lips Are Sealed (Go-Go's)

I could see him doing more of a Fun Boy Three take on this. Love this song!

Hot in the City (Billy Idol)

Not the best Billy Idol song but he could do it.

Edge of Seeventeen (Stevie Nicks)

Could totally see him doing this.

Anything but Journey. Please no Journey. Echogirl hates Journey!

Hurts So Good is one of the ones I thought of too. That could hurt really good. I'd like Edge of Seventeen too.

Thankfully they did that Journey song last night. Woo hoo!

I'd love to hear Adam sing a little Billy Idol (he often wears the same sneer and I just know how good he'd look in leather!). Of course, if he wants to do Journey's Don't Stop Believing, I seriously think he could blow it out of the water, unlike what the group did to it last night. It's a great song - it didn't deserve that crap. Of course, if he wants to choose a song that would allow him to use his outrageous vocals, he could do his own version of 'Why do Fools Fall in Love' - I could see that as being another shocker, similar to what he did with 'Play that Funky Music.'

It would be kind of funny if Allison did "One" by U2 since Simon said Lil should do it!

I think Allison could definately pull that off and have a true "moment".

"What's Love Got to Do With It" would be great for Lil! She could really belt it out there! Another good choice, I think, would be "Self-Control" and I think "Let's Hear it For the Boy" might not be a bad choice if she could sing it for her husband. Oh, and "Love Is A Battlefield" would also be a fine choice for Lil to belt out! Of course, she's got to make whatever choice she selects young & current. I hope she does so! GO, LIL!

There's a problem with that -- too many singers have done that song, and rarely have they been good. But Love Is A Battlefield would be a good alternative choice to WLGTDWI.

I really want Anoop to go back to singing his slower more soulful songs...my choices would be...

1. All Cried Out -Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam
2. Secret Lovers-Atlantic Star
3. Broken Wing-Mister Mister

So yes he runs the risk of being "boring" per the judges but I think he need to stick to what shows his range. (Besides, I love these sappy songs),

edited to add one more song.

ha. I keep saying (to myself) that she better not touch Axl and Kurt because... just no. It seriously makes me twitch just thinking about it. I hate Nirvana being covered as a rule (there have been exceptions) and I can't imagine how she would do Axl Rose any justice at all. It frightens me that they are on her list.

I have, however, been dying to hear Adam sing Welcome To the Jungle.

I think emy was just having a memory regarding "Borderline". I don't believe she was suggesting Lil sing it.

But yes, WLGTDWI could be reeeeally good. And these people have been dying for Tina Turner to stick to somebody. (Trenyce and Doolittle come to mind.) I'm sure they would be overjoyed to have a chance to compare Lil to Tina.

yep...no way should Lil sing Borderline...I just sung the heck out of it in 1984!

I'm not sure Lil will do the hair, but Glow's suggestion of the flapper dress might work out for Lil.

I hope Lil has an "Idol moment" if she does do WLGTDWI, as I think should be her top choice -- assuming it's cleared for her to sing, of course. If she does -- she'll resurrect herself and I'll be seeing her in the Final 3!

I think I've found the perfect song for Allison, and it's a butt-kisser song as well!

Blowing Kisses In The Wind, Paula Abdul

I love 80's music!! My Sirius radio is on Channel 8 most of the time. This is going to be fun.

Without reading the whole thread, here are my picks from 1985.

I would love for Matt to sing "Everytime You Go Away" by Paul Young.

Scott could do Survivor "The Search Is Over" (one of my favs to play on the piano).

Wham's "Careless Whisper" for Kris or "Never Surrender" Corey Heart (love that song).

I really like those songs -- the ones I've heard, that is! Matt might do a fine job with "Everytime You Go Away," and I'd like to hear Scott do "The Search Is Over". "Careless Whisper" might be fine for Kris, but I remember Paul Kim doing a terrible job with that one in the semi-finals of Season 6.

For Danny....

"Babe" by Styx jumped out of the list for me as did The Eagles "Heartache Tonight". Both have power notes that would suit him....

As a side note...if he does "The Rose"....I just might hurl.

Thank you, Agman
