This could be a fun week, with "current" songs. As i understand it they can pick a song from the current top 100 iTunes downloads. Take a look at the current list and lets try to pick what would be good for each contestant?

Will Lil try and sing Beyonce? Will Kris do a Jason Mraz song? And what the #*$@ will Adam pick?

Adam--there are so many because he is versatile, "You Found Me" by The Fray is probably too light for Adam

Wonder if someone will attempt Journey's "Don't Stop Believing", lol, it's on the top 100 itunes list.

Those are just my guesses. Don't Stop Believing...the singer could risk getting the "you're not current" or "karaoke" comments unless they update it, etc. But I could see Danny doing it and getting panned.

I have read several places that Adam really likes this song and had mentioned earlier he would like to do it sometime. This would be his chance.

Hmm, after Ring of Fire, the Journey song I'd like to see Adam tackle is Lovin', Touchin' Squeezin'. Then again, they might have to air it after all the kiddies go to bed! If Adam wins the hat draw, I would guess DSB might be his pick, he has said he'd like to sing it for Randy, and that, and I quote, "When I do it, it doesn't sound karaoke (sp)." If he doesn't win the hat draw though, he can sing darn near anything.

The ones you suggested would be fine choices for Lil. As for Loree's suggestion that Adam might do "Don't Stop Believing," I'd like to see that -- I like that song. Do you think it would be a good choice for Adam? It might -- as long as he's not too over-the-top (which is why I usually don't like him).

I like your suggestions! I immediately thought of Pink for Allison. This could be a fun night and certainly expose weaknesses for many.

ITA! I think Scott and Anoop could be shown up--unless they pick slower songs. And the judges told Anoop he should "change it up" this week. Wonder how much behind the scenes pressure he is getting?

I think all three girls could come out well this week. And I expect good things from Chris, Danny and Adam. Matt had difficulty with the Coldplay song (ironically still in the top 100), so he will repeat that mistake with his selection this week?

I hope Matt doesn't select the Coldplay song or some other song that doesn't fit his voice! He's not my favorite, but I have bad memories of his performance of that Coldplay song for me not to want him to do that song or a similar one!

I certainly think (and hope) Lil will shine! And I'm going to vote like crazy for her!

Read on MJ's Big Blog that David Cook will perform on Wednesday, they are also showing 30 seconds of his new video in a commercial break tied to an AT&T promo, and Lady Gaga will also perform "Poker Face" (so take that number off of the top 100 list that the AIers have to chose from).

I have read that David Cook was there on the 17th (?) and recorded his performance for Wednesday. He has two new singles being released from his record, "Come Back To Me" and "Bar-Ba-Sol". I assume he will be performing one of those (most likely CBTM).

I just looked at the list, and wow, I can't say I recognize half of it, but what pops out at me are -Kings of Leon- Good for Danny and Matty G
Seether's cover of "Careless Whisper"- Can Glambert pass up George Micheal? Or will he shatter glass with Muse's "Supermassive Blackhole"?
Ting Ting's "That's not my name"- Allison could really have fun with this if she doesn't pick a Pink song
The Fray- good for Kris
Jason Mraz- I'd actually like to hear Megan try this. But I'm wrong a lot.
I don't know what would be good for Lil, but if she picks something midtempo w/ some good glory notes, I'm sure she'll do great with it.
I don't have any ideas for Anoop, and Scott may have to do another country song. Should be entertaining.

I had problems with Anoop and Scott too. And isn't that Darius Rucker song a country song? heh.

Something tells me Adam doing Muse is too much to wish for.

hmmm. That's a lot of songs to try to guess/wish from. Doesn't help that I don't know 3/4 of them.

Adam - Kings of Leon (Would they let him sing "Sex on Fire"? because that would be awesome) or Muse. But probably "Don't Stop Believin'". ooh. All-American Rejects.
Allison - Pink. Please. I don't want to see her try anything else.
Anoop - Akon(?)
Danny - I'd like to see him do Shinedown or Framing Hanely but I'll guess Rascal Flatts
Kris - I'd love to hear him do The Fray but I'm guessing Mraz.
Lil - Beyonce. "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" makes me dance
Matt - Jesse McCartney? (I can't think of what he sounds like.) The Fray
Megan - Katy Perry or Lily Allen or Adele
Scott - Darius Rucker

I love the song "I Don't Care" by Apocalyptica (featuring Adammmm Gontier from Three Days Grace).

I hope Anoop picks it up. I have this thing in my head that's telling me he's going to do "Careless Whisper" or some slow thing.

I'd like to see Matt do well. I just talked to my in-laws yesterday about the show. My MIL LOVES Adam as does my niece. Danny was the second pick for both of them. Neither of them like Matt or Megan and neither of them could remember enough about Kris to comment (that made me pouty). Oh and my MIL has a block on Anoop's name. We must have told her 50 times yesterday. "Asoop" "Asnoop" "Snoop" "Asoopalay" "What's that one guy's name again?" It was crazy. heh.


Talking about Josh Logan made me want to watch Supernova again so I pulled out the DVDs. Man, that show was awesome. It helped me gain back some perspective. Rock Star > American Idol (light years greater)

Good list, Glow. And lol on the name block on Anoop.

The reason I don't think Lil would do "Single Ladies" is that it's a song that takes a lot of energy and Beyonce's moves do a lot for that song. I think Lil could do the other two songs without having to imitate Beyonce's moves.

I'm reading things in other places that say the list is iTunes #1 downloads. That opens the door quite a bit. At the same time, it also kind of limits the list, if that makes sense.

Good point about Lil and the moving. Maybe, if it is #1 downloads, she could do "Irreplaceable". I like that one too.

How do you get to that list? I looked at the top 100 songs list--but did not look at the top 100 in every genre. TIA.

I have heard it is the most downloaded list also. I found this list out there with the top 15 of 2008:

Yeah, it might not be a good idea to do a song that takes a lot of energy after her last performance! Another Beyonce song that doesn't require as much energy or imitation of Beyonce's moves would do well for her.

Read on another board--rumor is Adam will sing Rihanna's "Disturbia". Only a rumor. Discussions abound about "Crazy" as well.

Also rumored: someone could be singing Usher's "Caught Up".

Anoop, perhaps?
