Kara. You really can sing, tonight showed me. This one showed you can hit those notes. What is great you are serious, you bring your game.

Paula. You have so many things going for you. Likeable, regular guy with talent. Picked an instinctually good for you. You colored it up and sounded lovely.

Kara. You bring your game, and you can bring it right back to my dressing room.

It was good but I didn't love it. Was checking facebook more than paying attention to him singing.

The judging went down to his level to complement (or that compliment?) him. Either way, this kind of performance is what I would expect during the early eliminations rounds, not the top 12. Although he's got charm (and he does), he's the first serious elimination candidate so far tonight.

KAra. I'm always on the edge and she hit some of these notes. I keep thinking a 1/2 key down would have been more comfortable. You sold it and have great stage presence.

Paula. You have tremendous composure and poise. You had some bright moments, but some going into the chorus, where you were under at times, can't hear yourself?

Simon. Can't add much. You made a good attempt, a little bit robotic. You just gotta lighten up a little bit. Start acting your age. Trying to be a grown up.

So basically, they criticized her for all the same things they criticized her for in the past, and yet they are the ones who put her through to this round.

She's awfully cute, but just not impressed.

Her vocal control is -- intermittent. There were times when it seemed as if she didn't know which of two notes to go with, so she just tried to sing them both.

Let's hope not - I have her going this week on my PTTE.

Her being a young novice showed here, but she clearly has strong vocal control and is capable of singing almost anything. But I can't imagine her doing a rousing, energetic song performance something like Lil Rounds did. Having said all that I liked watching and listening to her on stage.

I thought she sounded off key at times.

Simon. I didn't understand any of what Paula said. I don't know if that song suits the guitar. The vocals were OK, you are likable, not sure I'd bring the wife out so early. I'm kidding.

Take away the guitar and the vocal performance was, well, average.

Add the guitar, and we see only - what? - about 3 or 4 chord changes the whole song, almost all of it on the same chord? Even Elvis moved around the fretboard more. And we hardly heard it.

Both as a guitarist and an AI fan, I wasn't impressed.

I don't know if this was an editorial comment on her part, by one of my dogs just put her paw on the remote and changed the channel.

We knew Jasmine was trying for notes only dogs could hear, but I didn't realize she'd reached ones only dogs could critique.

Sixteen and trying to look and sound 26. That's the operative word there: trying. I got the impression she was trying more than she was performing. She's clearly got the talent and energy, but this performance didn't turn me on.

Neither my hubby nor I were watching at the very end of her performance but when we heard her cackle, we both looked at each other like, "Did we really just hear her make that noise?"

I think this guy is awesome, and the judges are finally feeling the same way. He can do musicals, but he can also rock it out. Miles ahead of the others IMO.

I'm with you on this one. Having seen no advance pimping, I didn't know him from...well, Adam. After aabout 20 seconds, I thought - well, this is the David Cox of this season. I am looking forward to more from him.

I don't see him as that. Cook seemed to come from nowhere to win. This guy needs to fight off the "I've already done a ton of stage productions, but now want to rock out". Having seen We Will Rock You, he would be a natural to continue there. I think he will have to show his relevance to modern music (take each theme and put his spin on it) to win the audience over. But he should have weeks to do this.

I understand what you are saying with respect to the "coming out of nowhere" factor. I have somwhat disadvantaged myself by not seeing any of this season until tonite and certainly didn't know about the We Will Rock You component. Loved that production btw. (Rocking out to Queen as I type).

I can't decide if I liked the performance or not..it was a bit screechy, but not a horrible screechy.

Finally someone worth watching and listening to.

Paula is horny. And I was worried for a minute Ryan might grab him too.

I am not so much a fan and never really have been. I don't get his appeal. And really didn't care for that performance. It was screetchy and at times stupid goofy. I thought put a shiny silver shirt on him and Norman/Nick is back in Adam.

Definitely the bravest, over the top and contemporary performance of the the night, WackoJacko-ish, even. Props for stepping up and cutting loose. Having said that, I'm not a huge fan of these kind of screamy vocals where I can hardly discern the lyrics, and I'm not nearly as impressed as the judges were. They seemed to go out of their way to majorly pimp him. Put out a record now and go to the top of the charts? Methinks maybe not.
