I think Kathy and Lex made total idiots/sore losers out of themselves at the final TC. Kathy, this IS a game, no matter what you think (thank God Hatch set her straight at the reunion show) and you will NEVER win if you can't separate the two. I couldn't stand her final TC menopausal teary scene. Rob played a great game, and if you were dumb enough to trust him, your bad!As for Lex, I agree with most of what has been said.
Basically, I lost all respect for Kathy and Lex as players after the final TC. Even if Kathy did do the right thing by voting for Rob at the end, lose the dramatics already!
As for Big Tom and Alicia, I didn't expect much from them anyway, so I wasn't as disappointed.
Shii-Ann, though, went WAY up in my books. She gets it!
LAST EDITED ON 05-10-04 AT 10:37 AM (EST)Definately Lex especially after the speech he made to Ethan after his boot.
Tom at least had reason Rob should have at least hhad respect for the family.
Still trying to figure out how amber won.
Hi, HD,Much as I was disgusted by Tom's antics in the final TC ("Don't be stupid, stupid"), at least he shook Rob's hand at the Reunion Show. And I agree, Breezy and WCH, that the last TC was as tough to get through as speech by GW Bush. I kept thinking of Kathy's quote about Sue that it's uncomfortable to be exposed to someone's "core of hatred". And there were three "cores of hatred" we were exposed to at the last TC, plus Kathy's tearful denounciation of Rob. Quoting Kathy from the earlier episode again: Frankly, I was offended.
Lex was just as bad at TC, but worse at the Reunion Show, with his angry defensiveness, his self-righteousness, and his blue hair. If anyone ever deserved a public dressing down by Jiffy, it was Lex, and to JP's credit, he did go after the tattooed fool, a bit.
Jerri and Sue were just their usual entertaining selves.
So my vote is for Lex.
I kept thinking of Kathy's quote about Sue that it's uncomfortable to be exposed to someone's "core of hatred". And there were three "cores of hatred" we were exposed to at the last TC, plus Kathy's tearful denounciation of Rob. Quoting Kathy from the earlier episode again: Frankly, I was offended.I forgot about that, great job bringing it back up Skiver.
I think Rob is a master manipulator, and that his offer to bury the hatcher was disengenuous. He was quick enough to realize that the first one to offer a handshake would have the upper hand, and I believe that he also knew that Big Tom would be reluctant to make up. The longer he kept his hand out there, the worst it made Tom look, the better it made Rob look; at least on the surface.
This is a toughie. lolFirst of all, as much as I *hate* Rob, he deserved to win this game. It was his game from start to finish. Amber was a bit of a coattail rider, no matter what Shii-Ann said.
That being said, I think Kathy was very right in her TC speech. Rob did have a parallel method to go to finish the game exactly the same way he did, and he chose to go the "evil" route instead of the classier route --- hence, he p**sed off many folks on the jury beyond repair and that's why he lost the game.
Although I do feel Lex and Kathy both had points to make in that they felt Rob's request to keep Amber around was made "outside" of the game, and that's why it makes their situation different than when they booted others -- but in the end, they just need to realize that Rob was playing a more cutthroat game than they were prepared to play. Some people can be dirtier than others, and Rob proved that he was willing to do whatever it took to get to the end. Congrats Rob. Now it's time for Lex to let it lie.
Kathy had the b@lls to give Rob the million even after the betrayal. Kathy is a true gamester and doesn't let hurt feelings keep her from losing sight of the end picture.
Tom was a total ##### in the TC. The fake handswipe thing made for good TV, but just showed his sore sport-ness. Although he does have a point about Rob making fun of his son -- that was wrong. True, Tom made comments about Sue, but Sue was a gameplayer, not a contestant's family member. There is a slight difference.
Shii-Ann had the best comments, both at the TC and the Reunion Show. She proved she was worthy of being an All-Star. I really wish she had made an alliance with Richard early on -- I would have loved to have seen the two of them tear it up through the game a little.
Overall, Boston Rob was a jerk. He was the same way in Marquesas --- always being totally rude and condescending towards the other players and then wanting forgiveness at the end when he had his exit speech. I thought it was funny that Kathy remembered that about him. He was no better this time around and in fact became worse as the game went on. I don't have a problem with people stirring the pot a bit, but something about the way Rob did it made it seem especially malicious and mean-spirited, not "all in fun for good TV." That's why the votes came back to bite him in the A.S.S. at the end. He still deserved to win over Amber, IMO. But he could have guaranteed himself the win and the support of more of the TV audience if he'd just taken that parallel route that Kathy mentioned in her TC speech.
LAST EDITED ON 05-10-04 AT 11:06 AM (EST)which path could Rob have taken that WOULDN'T have gotten him voted off earlier? He made the right alliance with Jenna and Rupert and came through by the skin of his teeth a few weeks because the others were so hell-bent on keeping in his good graces for whatever reason.
Rob was good because the rest were so bad, IMO. I expected much better from people who had watched and learned in the trenches. He was an undeniable Immunity Threat a la Colby and yet, they kept him around. He was obviously involved in multi-layer alliances, yet they were all deaf to what they heard. He had a F2 alliance that was tighter than tight and yet they all thought he would take them to the finals? WTF? Why on earth would you leave him with Amber?
I think, as much as I hate Amber, that it is totally fitting that they ended up engaged and will share the money. If ever there was a team effort, then this was it. The two of them smoked the rest of the "Survivors" time and time again. It was no contest.
Miscellaneous Ramblings
--Rupert will win the money, no doubt about it.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if Rupert won. He's a very popular player.Personally, I'm voting for Rob, because he's the one who *should* have gotten the million.
Anybody on this board can easily f%*& over someone. You can lie to their face, call them names, and question their sexuality. But if you can f&*% someone over and have them like it, that right there is an art. So even with his women by his side and the same mantra “In Rob we trust” rumbling thorough the camps this young Boston boy still couldn‘t pull off the final million win. Why? Because Rob is an ##### and is not educated in the art of F*&^ing people over. Rob did not give Lex and Tom empathy. Rob stab them in the back and then urinated in the gapping wound. And Rob being the juvenile boy that he is can’t quite understand way these people dislike him and didn‘t give him the money.
Lex. Since I can't go with an eighteen-way tie for first place -- and to be fair, Jerri and Shii Ann distinguished themselves for honesty -- I'll take the person who fell the greatest distance. I expect Alicia to keep eight other planets and the sun in her orbit. And Tom, for all his potential double/triple/can he count that high? dealing/standards, at least shook Rob's hand at the end.But Lex -- from my Africa slightly delusional hero to my All-Stars 'the next tattoo is going to be colored Thorazine injections' sideshow. Lex, who has to listen to Richard and realize that it is a game. Lex, who can apparently betray, stab, confound, and openly deceive people, but who can't have it turned around on him, because that's wrong. Lex of the empty gut.
Bring on the sixteen strangers. Familiarity bred contempt.
Worst on the finale was Tom, but worst over the entire season was Lex.Alicia looked pathetic too.
I used to dislike Shii Ann but when this whole thing ended I now like her.
Ruppert came out fine and even Jenna in my opinion because who knows what you would've done the same situation. Even had they gone the purple rock there was a 66.7% chance either Ruppert or she would've gone anyways.
Richard Hatch looked good. Colby did.
Kathy redeemed herself in the end - partially.
But last night Tom easily was the worst. Lex was Lex and didn't change from previously Tom did however.
Rob should've won the million.
Agreed that Rob should of in fact won the million, but i guess in some sense he did win it. But who made a bigger fool of themselves. Lex won that one by a landslide. As others had mentioned it is ok to be devilish, and underhanded when it works to your advantage, but once someone pulls one over on you, you scream friendship, friendship. I think he contridicts(sp) himself by preaching about this isn't just a game bla bla bla. It was just a game for him when he had the upperhand and booted his so-called friends. Lex grow up.Big Tom, was he tanked at the final TC?
Big Tom, was he tanked at the final TC?I don't know about the final TC, but he might just have been tanked at the Reunion Show.
I agree with what many have said that Rob deserved to win this one. Like him or not, he just totally dominated the game. Amber won because, as Jeff pointed out, she played the good cop while Rob took all the heat and played the bad cop. But the two of them made all of the decisions about who to boot together. So she shouldn't have gotten off scott free. Therefore, Rob deserved the nod because he was the one who won so many of the challenges -- both group and individual -- that kept him and Amber on top.
The points about Lex and Tom have been great. And I really agree that both Shii Ann and Kathy redeemed themselves in the Reunion show by admiting the obvious. It's a shame that Tom and Lex couldn't do the same.
Congrats to Rob and Amber. I hope their marriage lasts forever.
"Rupert came out fine"???
Maybe I'm forgetting any comments that he may have made, because all I can remember is he wore yet another (or is it the same) tie-dyed tank top and produced some sort of gutteral noises. I winced when he screeched the second time - just an absence of anything concrete happening upstairs. I was actually embarrassed for him - but I guess he knows his fan-base because they loved it. A conversation between Rupert and Tom is the stuff that SNL skits are made of - parody of Clan of the Cave Bear!
Sorry, but I'd have to say that I totally disagree with that.Rupert played the game with honor. He was one of the few players to do so, and my guess is he'll get the million dollars on Thursday.
Oh - I don't disagree that he will win the $$$ - he is a fan favorite. My initial comment was only referring to his behaviour on the reunion show.
As for playing the game with honour, I also don't particularly disagree, but I also don't think he played with any manner of independent thinking. He, of course, was not the only one, but I continually looked to Rupert to take control of the game from Rob (and there were so many opportunities!) Unfortunately, Rupert simply is not clever enough (and no, I don't mean amoral enough) to take control of the game. I guess I hoped that, after he watched is lack-lustre performance in s7, he would have upped his game some.
LAST EDITED ON 05-13-04 AT 00:17 AM (EST)Well now that I totally agree with. He does seem to lack that cleverness to win. We can see that both in Survivor 7 and 8.
But comparing him to Tom is where I would disagree. The two are polar opposites in terms of their character, in my opinion.
Well said Estee! LOL!
You have asked two questions, luckily.Who Made The Biggest A.S.S. of Himself? Tom, definitely. That fake handshake at Tribal Council destroyed the last bit of sympathy I had, and painted Dumbest A.S.S. ever on him.
Who Was The Biggest Loser? Lex, definitely. His dismissal of booting his tribemates Hatch, Colby, Ethan & Jerri as not being the same as Rob booting him out immediately upon merging - oh my goodness. Lex takes the cake for deluded, stupid, short-sighted, hypocritical. He should be in the dictionary (with his blue hair) as an illustration of "Loser."
Agree with all who say ShiiAnn came across as classy. I was proud of her at Final TC and she looked marvellous at the Reunion.
As for Why Didn't Rob Win? Well, it was a tough spot to convince extremely sore losers. However, Rob made AMAI's No. 1 Final TC Cardinal Mistake. He apologized for his game. No matter what you do during the game - but especially if you have cackled & laughed over the poor play of others in Confessionals, you absolutely must suck up whatever feelings you have of regret and put a bright face on it. He was low key from the start and only once put on a half-hearted smile.
In fact, contrary to what both Amber & Rob were saying prior to going to Final TC, it is not "out of your hands" - when you are a finalist, you must Must MUST think about your game and how to present it to best advantage. No matter if you lied, backstabbed, betrayed. Whether Rob did that consciously, or only realized at the last minute that that's what he'd done, he needed to portray the actions as having been consciously taken. Make the means you use to get to the end Look Like A Strategy. Put a smile on your face (most of the time - I think it would be acceptable to look unhappy when someone like Kathy starts crying) but generally, you must be upbeat, and project Winner.
That will make people forgive you for betraying them. You must make them feel you Outwitted them, not just backstabbed & betrayed. Make them feel that you had to go to these extraordinary lengths to outsmart them, make them feel that you were inspired by their intelligence & ability.
Rob apologizing lost him a close game. Who knows? Maybe Tom or even ShiiAnn - possibly even Lex would have changed their votes. It only would have taken one of them to appreciate the gameplay. Apologizing makes people feel justified for voting against you.
LAST EDITED ON 05-10-04 AT 12:44 PM (EST)Good points.
Richard Hatch never apologized for the way he played the game, so why should Rob?
Then again, Hatch never had to deal with the extremely sore losers that Amber and Rob faced.
If Rob had not apologized, would he still have gotten Kathy's vote?
We may never know if Rob could have won. But I am happy for both him and Amber. The best team won, at least. That's classic Survivor at its best.
LAST EDITED ON 05-10-04 AT 12:52 PM (EST)Good questions, Howard. I think being gentle with Kathy was the right way to go. But if Rob had been more upbeat... I don't know.
Lex, of course, just made A Speech, and didn't give the players a chance to speak to him in answer. Of course, Final Statements could have been used, as well as opening statements to address General Strategy Points.
I agree - the best team won. The more we talk about this season, the better it feels, now that it's almost over. The result is more palatable than S3, S5 and S6. Edited to add: actually, it's more palatable than every season EXCEPT S7. I really enjoyed Sandra's win immensely. As far as two people being together at the end, this was much more satisfying than Colby & Tina, who allegedly had an alliance most of the game, but we never saw it. So we didn't really care (and would we have? I doubt it.)
Good points all.The only point you made that I would personally disagree with is the winner of Survivor 7. Rupert deserved to win that one. He planned the strategy from the beginning and was the go to guy that helped them win so many challenges.
Unfortunately, he had a Johnny Fairplay in the fold who did him in. Rupert was not as streetwise as he should have been and so he succumed.
(If it had been Rob , he would have snuffed Fairplay out and sent him packing.)
Seeing Sandra win was somewhat satisfying in the sense that she was the one who called out Fairplay for the rotten apple that he was, but she was not a particularly brilliant strategist.
In other words, you can tell that I'm not a big fan of the UTR strategy. It's a cheap win, in my opinion.
The real winner was Rupert -- even if he didn't win.
>>>>Then again, Hatch never had to deal with the extremely sore losers that Amber and Rob faced.>>>>>
I don't know --- do you think??? Sue made her infamous snake-and-rat speech to Kelly and Richard and most of the jury seemed to dislike Richard, even if they awarded him the $$$.I do think that Richard managed to be much more subtle about his backstabbing than Boston Rob which is part of the reason he was able to finagle the votes he needed at the end. He never directly p**sed anybody off or was confrontational to anyone. He was a subtle manipulator ---- something BR definitely was not and a good reason why he is not the winner today, even if he deserved to be. You gotta backstab with finesse, I've been saying for quite some time, and BR never managed to get that. And this was something that was all the more important since this group was comprised of friends instead of strangers.
And, yes, his TC speech sucked, which did not help at all.

I don't agree. Those jerks were way too deep into their "core of hatred" to even listen to Rob. It was all about them and their "pain" of not making it to the Final 2. However, I do believe Rob's apology got him Kathy's vote. The other idiotic trio would not be swayed no matter what..... Dumb (Alicia), Dumber (Tom), and biggest DUMBA.S.S. EVER..... LEX!Somebody owes my man Rob a million bucks! Come on people...vote for the King!
Somebody owes my man Rob a million bucks! Come on people...vote for the King!I totally agree with you. I've already voted for him.
Imagine Rob delivering this kind of Opening Statement, in which he addresses the pissed off jurors by going on the offensive..."Okay, I know a number of you are unhappy and feel betrayed by me - well that doesn't compare to how betrayed I feel by a couple of you.
1. Lex, I'm so disappointed in you. You had a fabulous tribe, full of strong people and you tossed them away. I was hoping you would make a real competition out of this, but no, you didn't. You really let down the side. I was counting on you to make this the most awesome experience and you blew it.
2. Tom, you and Lex and your pre-game alliance. (shakes head ruefully.) What, you think I didn't know? I knew about it and when I learned about it, I realized I couldn't trust you. When we were talking about booting out someone other than Shii Ann or ALicia, you mentioned Rupert and the threat he posed to win challenges. Later in the game, when it was a decision between Jenna & Rupert, you suddenly decided that we should keep Rupert, and toss Jenna instead. You see how I couldn't trust you anymore?
3. Kathy: no, I don't feel betrayed by you (smiles a little). I did expect a better game from you, especially after I cheered you on (when I watched the show and so wanted to see you win.) You're smart & gutsy and I really expected to see a worthy adversary in All Stars. I think you mistook Chapera taking you on the reward boat for an open-arms invitation to join our tribe. It wasn't. We brought you along for the reward to pump you for information about your tribal connections. We knew we were buttering you up to get you to spit out that information. And you delivered. But if you thought you really had a place in our tribe, and made your decisions and alliances based on that (shrugs and smiles) No, you didn't. Chapera outwitted you.
4. Finally, Alicia. I am sorry about backstabbing you (says this with feeling, even tho probably doesn't mean it.) I made an alliance with you because I just couldn't bear not to have an alliance with everybody (pause for laughter). Actually, I really thought Lex over there was going to boot out Amber. When he didn't, you & I really should have talked. Of all those I helped to boot, I feel the most sorry about how I treated you. You didn't deserve that.
5/6 Rupert & Jenna - you two I kept my promise to, so thanks Rupert for all the fish and Jenna for all the food rationing.
7. ShiiAnn - well, you & I never got to be allies during the course of the game, but if you would care to change that, why, as it happens I'm open for a little negotiation right here, right now. What do you say? (smile, eyebrow raise, coquettish)
Now, with an opening statement like THAT, what do you think? Wouldn't more people have been made to feel like Rob not only played a better game, but deserves to win AND that they'd want to be his real life friend?
He didn't just apologize by saying sorry - he looked and sounded so miserable that in retrospect, I wonder if it wasn't an act put on because that's what he thought they'd want to hear.
That would have been perfect.
I agree. That would have been much better, either as an opening statement or as a closing statement. What Rob essentially needed to do is the same thing that Richard did in Survivor 1. He needed to point out that he played the game better, and regardless of any hard feelings that they might have for him, they should award him the million because he *did* play so well.
Amai, where were you (and the Teleprompter) when Rahb needed you the most? Great analysis and writing.
time for a sig update?
I guess these people forgot that there can only be one winner. If Tom and Lex had been fourth and third, they would have STILL been pissed off. I guess they didn't learn anything the first time around. And if Lex and Tom had an alliance BEFORE the game even started, then they got what they deserved.Richard is still one of my favorite players (especially after last night). Did anyone notice that Rob C. sat between Sue and Richard? Grow up, Sue.
Shii Ann is one classy person too. She understands the game, was able to separate life from the game, and threw it all back in their faces.
Bottom line... this game should not be played among friends. It works better with strangers.
Snazzy new sigpic by Slice
Survivor All Stars PTB Champ!
I, for one, found it appropriate that Jerri decided to use the Quit Boat during the live reunion show. Really, the show wouldn't have been the same without the quit boat and so it wouldn't have been right to leave it out of the reunion. It's just a shame that it all happened during the commerical.
Still, in my mind, it's not even close. Lex was the worst... Tom and Kathy and Alicia all tried to give him a run for his money, but they rated mostly as sad and pathetic. Only Lex was a complete A.S.S.
I have to agree that both Lex and Tom were big A.S.S.es at the Reunion show. The thing that sways my vote to Tom is the way he played games with Rob in terms of shaking his hand. In the Reunion show, Rob must have had his hand held out for well over two minutes there before Tom begrudgingly shook it. Never mind what he did to Rob at the final tribal council Total lack of class in both cases!
Excellent points!Regarding Shii-Ann, she seems to understand the game *now*, but for most of the show (as TV Guide pointed out) she didn't seem to be good for much of anything except rolling her eyes.
I give her credit for finally waking up, though. It's a shame that Tom and Lex can't seem to do the same.
Biggest ##### on ##### Reunion
4th runner up- Sue Hawk for her deseperate version of "Look At Me- I Am Beautiful - Not"
3rd Runner Up- Jerri - For her version of "I Am A real Person With Real Feelings"
2nd Runner Up - Alicia - For her version of "I Am ##### Hear me Roar"
1st Runner up - Big Tom - SHAKESPEAREAN performance and the way he spins a phrase
King of Survivor ##### - Lewho used to be one of my favorites) for his performance as "The Man Withoit A Clue"
as a footnote - I know many people were severely saddened when Mama Kim chose Ethan over Lex in Africa. However after seeing Lex and Tom's performances last evening - I am even more happy that Ethan won Survivor 3.
LOL .... I like your parody of Miss USA / Miss America. The only difference in this case is that the 4th Runner Up will be smiling a lot more than the winner. And yep ... always loved the fact that Ethan won ... Now more than ever!
Are you kidding? Amber and Rob made the biggest asses of themselves!Amber's tacky shirt, stupid comments. Rob's cloying act of trying to nice.
And a public proposal? Spare me.
Winner: Tom wins the award for his transformation from dim-witted doofus to malicious, petty, spiteful and mean-spirited doofus. Not shaking Rob's hand was awful sportsmanship. I kept waiting for someone to lance that ugly boil but it was just Tom's bare head. Feel sorry for his goats.Lex finished a distant second in the A.S.S. award but my expectations for him are pretty low after he ruined the season with his gameplan. Pathetic whiner. He really showed Ethan how to lose with class. And now we know why he was angry (still!) with Shii Ann in his exit interviews. Because she called him out at the last TC with the glass houses remark. Sad.
Honorable Mention: Alicia's lips. If they get any more pursed someone's gonna get confused and knock out her teeth with their car keys. It did completely obscure her nose though and she was almost unrecognizable. Like Jenna. I will ALWAYS pucker my lips.
Thought about voting for Rob to win the second million but can't due to the nauseating Mike Boogie-flashback moment. He did seem sincere but reminding me of Boogie is a bad thing.
Also, did anybody else notice how Amber was rolling her eyes during one of Kathy's pontifications on the reunion show? This from the same girl who was going to use the hurtful comments from the TC to change her behavior. Ha! Their champion.
All good points! It really is amazing how far Lex has fallen and how far Rob and Amber have risen.
If no one had seen them in their previous seasons, would anyone doubt that Rob and Amber are the real thing, both as worthy winners and as a hot couple?
I guess first impressions can be hard to change for some who remember their first times on Survivor, but I for one wish both of them the best, and yes, I *did* vote for Rob to get the second million.
Alicia's lips. If they get any more pursed someone's gonna get confused and knock out her teeth with their car keys.Kay now that?? Was pure D funny!
--can't get the image out of her head
lex wins the biggest loser award, how do make a tatooed freak weirder? put him in a florescent mohawk.
The highlight of the show for me was Alicia wagging that finger at tribal counsel, classic. She had a week to prepare for that confrontation, you would think she would have made an effort to restrain the finger.
how do make a tatooed freak weirder? Put him in a florescent mohawk.ROFL!!!! So true! So true!
I don’t know but I find it hard to discount Rupert from being an A.S.S., maybe it was when he started yelling at the audience like a barbarian coming to defile their women!
The Rupert Yell was a hoot for the audience, my impression was that he was performing in the moment.
Rupert pumping his arms and yelling is getting really old. I've had enough of it. But some of his fans like that.I found it interesting that on TES both Lex and Kathy had almost lost their voices. Gee, I wonder what those 2 had spent so much time talking about at the party all night??? Sour Grapes?
Wouldn't it have been amusing (and sickening) if Alicia, Lex and Tom had been the final 3? They couldn't all win so they would have had to stab each other in the back. And then they could have made their final TC speeches about why they deserved to win over their opponent. Considering they are all such sore losers it would have been interesting. Who would Lex have stabbed in the back (or front) if he was in the F3 with Tom and Kathy? Let's add Rob M to the list. Rob was like Lex's buddy so friendship would have meant Lex would have had to stab Kathy and Tom in the back/front and take Rob to the final wouldn't he? Oh the possibilities for more of Lex's reasonings would have been interesting. It was business when it went right for him, and personal when it went wrong. Does that mean it is worse to be Lex's friend or business partner? Rob and Amber are lucky to not have Lex in their lives anymore.
Of course once Lex realizes he isn't getting any attention he may start calling up Rob and Amber. He'll want to show up with his famous new hair design for their wedding and the cameras.
LAST EDITED ON 05-12-04 AT 12:28 PM (EST)like a barbarian coming to defile their women!
Good grief! Are you crazy????
Rupert was one of the winners in Survivor All Stars, not a loser.
If you think his primal scream was "like a barbarian coming to defile their women" then I'm guessing that you are either (1) kidding, (2) in serious need of counselling, or (3) need to lay off all the man-hating venom out there.
well, this is a basher board, after all
True .... but do we bash because we legitimately want to point out something that we disagree with ... or do we bash just for the sake of insulting someone, even if we know that what we are saying is not true?Of course, maybe that poster really believed that Rupert's primal scream had something to do with "defiling their women."
Either way, I just wanted to point out that there's no way that could be true, in my opinion.
I once had this very satisfying bowel movement, and as I sat on the toilet my girlfriend described my reaction as orgasmic. You may ask way my girlfriend was watching me take a dump? I say mind your own dame business! Still, the real question is did I actually have an orgasm on the toilet? No, it just seamed like it. Just like a big bearded man (who I believe is now very wealthy) roaring and pumping his arms in the air could resemble, lets say Vortigern the barbarian warlord of Britain during the 5th century.Of course maybe I was just F*%& JOKING! (It’s good to see that we can all enjoy some good-natured ridicule. Well I assume it’s harmless ridicule, that’s what I gather form the smiley faces. Are those faces supposed to be a form of cyber winking?) Anyway I need to get some work done. And I will look into that counselling, having bowel movement in front of someone is perhaps not a normal thing.

Welcome Kellar.
You'll learn that some here don't recognize sarcasm, but for the most part we're a good lot.
And good luck solving your toilet "issues".
ROFL!!!!!I almost split my sides laughing at that. Thanks for taking my post in the spirit is was intended. And if you need a good counsellor, I can recommend a name. He's already helping half the cast of All Star Survivor ... so maybe you can get a group rate.

Many good points made above. Can't argue with too many of them. One comment that hasn't been mentioned (I may have missed it) was Jenna M's comment about her relationship with Ethan. "Well, at least OUR relationship is based on something other than Survivor."
I may have misunderstood her comment or didn't hear something to qualify it (I was in a roomfull of people) but it had even me (a Rob/Amber hater from the get go) feeling sorry for them.
Did anyone else feel this way?
I went and watched it again. I'm not sure what she was trying to say. It was a one sentence comment made quickly near the end of the show. Jeff didn't give her time to elaborate. She may not have had time to put what she was saying in context. At any rate, if she was taking a swipe at Rob and Amber, then I feel sorry for them as well.
Let's see:Jenna M. and Ethan were both on Survivor. They each won an installment.
It is logical to assume that Jenna M. and Ethan met each other through a Survivor-related event: charity, party, reunion, whatever.
Having met through a Survivor-related event, it enabled Jenna M. and Ethan to start dating and develop a relationship.
So can someone please explain to me how their relationship is based on something other than Survivor? If it weren't for Survivor, they wouldn't KNOW each other.
Good point.I watched the tape again, and I think Jenna was just saying that their relationship is developing as they date now, and not while they were playing the actual game of Survivor on TV.
She also pointed out that they had both won the game before, and so neither of them is all that disappointed that they didn't win this time.
Who knows if they will end up getting married. But if so, I think that's totally cool. She's a babe, and he's one of my favorite players. Best wishes to them.
She started saying something about how she and ethan had a lot more "on their resumes," and I thought, good god, who talks about their "resume," in response to a dating question?! But I'm not American. Maybe that's normalShe did seem a bit like she wanted to have everyone know that their relationship was much deeper than Romber's, but I suppose it might have been lack of time to express herself. Ethan seems sweeter than her. I never saw either of their seasons though.
It wouldn't surprise me if they were trying to one-up Romber a little bit. Ethan made a comment right after Jenna was done about "it always being competitive."That definitely sounds like the soccer player and Survivor winner that Ethan is.
I'm not sure how "American" that is -- as opposed to what people do in other countries. Despite some of the ugly things that are being done in the name of the United States right now, I don't think we are all that different from other countries when it come to "competition."
Nice to meet you. What country are you from?
>>What country are you from?>>I would guess Anglofile is from either Great Britain or England, but I've always been bad at guessing games.
Well I hope he will post more often. I enjoy hearing the perspectives of people from other countries.
I'm going to guess the Phillipines.
Perhaps some time soon he'll log on and tell us.
I don't log on much--on dial up and i'm a student with final exams coming right upEarlier post was right--UK. We may be similarly competitive in a broad sense, but I'm pretty sure Americans are inclined to mention their resumes (or even their cvs, as we'd put it) a bit more often!
D@mn! The United Kingdom was my third guess, right behind England and Great Britain.
I suck at guessing games!
CV? Let's see if I can remember. Are those the initials for carte de visite?
CV = Curriculum Vitae (a summary of qualifications)....could also indicate a love for Chocolate & Vanilla.
Love that latin. lol
Biggest ASS?Easy, Me for sitting through the whole thing!

LAST EDITED ON 05-16-04 AT 02:24 PM (EST)It is all worth it if you reach that pinnacle and then... (nearly) swoop.
That split-second hesitation will kill you when Misto is posting!
Does this mean I get to sit next to Misto on national tv while she wears her "I heart RTW" t-shirt?
Tom. Tom. and one more vote for Big Tom. Originally from that area and trust me Big Tom is definitely born and bred moran. I liked Tom until the last couple of shows before he got booted.
He can't let nothing go. And he can't spit it out either. Whatever is on his mind, goes into a sputtering fit, an anger session and then a hillbilly redneck reaction. Enough already.
Tired of all the actor wannabes making the show; tireder of the rednecks, putz and pieces of '#####'essment coming out on top. But when the female fluff wins or comes out in the top four, you can thank some horny male contestant on there for intentionally or unintentionally helping her get there.
