"I stumbled upon.. Sweet Suzie"

DW were in Niagara Falls last night and hanging out at Casino Niagara around 8 p.m., when we saw a poster for a free concert at 10 p.m. featuring Suzie MacNeil from Rockstar.

Of course, after containing our giggling with gleefulness, we picked our spot, and camped out.

It was a small acoustic set... just her along with a guitarist/vocalist named Shawn Somethingorother (all though he was very good).

Let me say this... Suzie is INCREDIBLE live. She nailed about 7 songs over the course of an hour, including "Son of a Preacher Man," "Beast of Burden," "I Can't Make You Love Me," and the song she sang on the show call "Soul Life" co-written with Ty.

There was probably only a 100 or so people at the concert, so we were pretty close. And she did an autograph session after the show, so we got to meet her and tell her how awesome she is. DW asked about her clothes and jewellery, and I just told she was awesome (I was a bit star struck -- I'm naive that way).

She couldn't really divulge much about what's currently happening with her, or what happened on the show... but she did share the following story, that I'll try to keep brief:

Apparently the contestants were seriously sequestered at the house... although a few tried to escape. There was one successful escape however... apparently JD and Marty snuck out the bathroom window, jumped over two fences (JD scraped his knee pretty good, and Marty ripped his pants about an inch from his "baby-makers" (Suzie's words). They managed to get down the Sunset strip to a bar (although Burnett's minions were busy trying to track them down).

It wasn't too long after they entered the bar before they realized... it was a gay bar. Needless to say, they were quick to return home.

Anyways, that was my great, yet unexpected, encounter with a rock star.

Half man, half amazing, all DAW

How fun! I think Suzie will have a good career ahead of her. She's definitely got pipes!

Thanks for sharing-glad you and the DW had a great time!

Suzie says she is singing a duet with JD on the new album Switch. Don't know which song though. My guess would be US. She also said she has heard the whole new album and that it is fantastic and JD sounds awesome on it.

OK I have heard that it isn't "US" that is the duet between JD and Suzie on the album Switch. It is the song "God's Top Ten" that they do together.

Very cool, Meemo, you lucky devil. Suzie was my second favorite to win (if INXS went with a female). IMO she had the best voice/range of all the contestants (Ty a close second, just too theatrical to stay in the running). I think she'll go on to do big things. Other than J.D., she is the only contestant of whom I downloaded all her songs for my "RockStar Compilation CD."

Go, Suzie. Can't wait to hear the duet on Switch.

I read a new interview with Marty Casey from Rockstar INXS today. Marty tells the "escape to the bar" story differently than Suzie and since he was there I would tend to believe him over Suzie. He says he and JD did indeed break out of the house to a bar down the street from the house and it was "Ladies Night" and he and JD stayed for quite awhile and had a great time and everyone in the bar knew who they were because of the show.
