"What are your connections?"

Lets put together our BB&D team.
What sports connections do you have?

I worked with the brother of a Boston Red Sox Player
and I am a good friend with a girl whose family is a "host" type of family for a minor leauge baseball team in Columbus Georgia.

No direct connections, but lots of relatives. Unfortunately, not rich ones.

Basically I'm a Josh with more interest in sports and about 2% of the charisma.

This still isn't a direct connection, but for those of you who watched BB&D Classic, remember when Team Cobi stopped in East Lansing, Michigan for Kelli's graduation party? East Lansing, the Michigan State University campus, and Greek Row are all about 5 miles from my house.

No I didn't notice any cameras (I don't go that way very often), and I couldn't pinpoint exactly where Team Cobi were at the time, but it's a fun little detail that I thought I'd share.

Absolutely none.

Years ago, I used to live next to Ed Kranepool's (from the Mets) banker and he actually came over to the neighbor's house a couple times. I also used to work with a girl who actively stalked one of the Mets shortstops for about a year and a half until she finally accepted the fact that he was actually happily married. Guess he thought twice about picking women up at autograph signings after THAT!!!

Other than those 2 sad, really digging for a connection, examples...I have none. Guess I won't be trying out for BB&D.

I know head of the securtiy for the Milwaukee Bucks, and I know Tim Thomas. In Milwaukee that could help, but with Tim living in NJ..THERE IS NOTHING TO DO IN NJ (except Nets, Devils, and some football), but it is close to NYC, i think it is a helpful connection!

Believe it or not, I "know" Mark Cuban. Not really, but, and this is dating me, I went IU at the same time he did. He dated one of my sorority sisters (who I still keep in touch with) and was good friends with another one (who I do not keep in touch with).

Any other connections would have been good twenty years ago. I went to high school with a former NFL quarterback and an Olympic ice dancer. Another sorority sister married a former NBA player.

OK - Charles is obvioiusly wired at Duke because he was an athlete there.

Kerri is connected with the Maloof bros. and that was an unlikely score...

...but I would honestly say that 80 percent of the time, we would go into a situation blind - not knowing anybody. What helped is that if we failed a task, there was always someone who was wired in the community that could help us out (Joe Rose in Miami, and Art - the guy in Alabama) Those people bacame our biggest help. And just because we had a place to stay, or had an idea for a task, we still had to find a way to get there.

ps - what is team CAKE doing in Maryland?

greg (yes, THAT greg)

Hi Greg. I'm glad you found us here. We're nice people. Bring your friends. Better yet, bring your teammates.

So many questions, most of which you can't answer because of those stupid lawyers. Well, let's start with a basic one, since ESPN isn't having chats with you guys like they did with the last group - if you won the prize, which championships would you like to attend?

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us.

>ps - what is team CAKE doing in Maryland?

1) Charles' dad is there.
2) They thought Mt. Rushmore was in or near Washington D.C.

Feel free to flood me with questions - really, I don't mind...I kinda dig it actualy.

LET'S SEE...WHAT WOULD I GO TO GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY?

...well, nobody knows the FULL list yet, but when we were all in South Beach the show creators gave us a taste.

MY LIST:
1)pro-bowl in Hawaii - serioiusly, I live in Wisconsin. I'd be stupid not to go to Hawaii in February - who cares about the game.

2)final-four - there's nothing better than the NCAA tourney.

3)BCS Championship - guaranteed to be a great time in a warm city

4)???????? - not sure what else is on the list.

Keep in mind - this is all hypothetical. Nobody has won anything yet...this is a tight race, and it made me lose 15 pounds (my belt was spinning around me like a hula-hoop when I got home)

cheers all

greg

Thanks for sharing your list with us, Greg. I'll try to think of some more questions that won't get you into trouble.

Hmmmm... no World Series? No Super Bowl? Those would be the top two on my list? Are you not interested or is the network not willing to spring for the costs involved (hard to imagine)?

"RE: Thanks"

I think they structure the World Series/NBA finals so you'd get to see game 4. I'm not sure but that would make sense because there's no way to plan far enough in advance for a game 5,6 or 7.

Also - the Super Bowl, we were told is not a part of the master list. Not because they didn't want it, I just think there are restrictions from the NFL that prohibit the giveaway of SB tickets...or maybe it's just too expensive, but given the treatment I've received, I'd find that hard to believe.

grerg...I mean, Greg

....without a doubt #1 on the list. I wouldn't even go to the game.

....best sporting event, period.

....another great call, plus it will be a huge party. I would ask to include New Years in there as well.

....hmmmmm. Now this answer kind of gets my spoiling sense tingling a little bit, but we won't dwell on that

I just thought I'd shed some enlightenment on why that damn team CAKE decided to go to Maryland -

At that point they were willing to go anywhere where they would have potential family/friends to help with connections/rides in an area with many task possibilities...and let's not forget the potential possibility for getting a Subaru in at the Capitol Building if they get there.

I know for a fact they didn't think Mt. Rushmore was in Washington D.C...

In the initial five minute frenzy of what was happening to us, we mistakenly thought it was in Washington state. Wait, did I say "we"?

Take Care. Kisses to You GREG!!!!

Thanks for enlightening us all, Annmarie. And welcome to the boards. I'll say the same thing I said to Greg - stick around, we're nice people, bring friends.

If you feel like you can answer them, I have some questions for you. For now, they'd be mostly the same as the ones I asked Greg, but that would change as the show goes on.

Anyway as the "offical" BB&D recapper and archivist here, I apologize for any misstatements of fact and welcome corrections.

P.S. With members from both teams here, I think things are going to get VERY interesting. Hehhehheh.

No problem! I appreciate what you are doing on this site. I think it's great
Yeah, Greg and I may have a few words here...
wouldn't you all like that? Where is his tired ass anyway? Just kidding. I'll have you know that Greg is my boy! Just ask him about his suave dance moves in Miami.
Feel free to hit me with any questions you have. I'll be happy to answer as many as I can. Thanks for watching the show. I can't wait for you all to see tomorrow's episode!
