Interesting set of mentors there.

Uh, oh, please don't tell me the winning song isn't for the finals! Ack, last year's was a parody of its own.

Every freaking one of those mentors does ballads. Wonder who that helps in the line up? Several people, sure, but anyone in particular? Sheesh. Too bad Bon Jovi was last year.

Was Ramiele's microphone off when she was singing with Brooke, and did everyone else see the camerman slip when on Kristy? Actual entertainment!

"RE: Group Sing"

Amanda was missing from this group number for a long time - I wondered whether she was supposed to be next to Kristy, and the cameraman went to swing over to her, and she wasn't there.

Either that or Kristy's shiny shirt blinded him and he ran over someone. Thunk.

Do not put the shortest guy farthest from the camera.

OK, did they have Ramiele's mic cut when she was singing with Brooke

"Here, There, Everywhere" is what I think the girls are singing.

Then onto "Because" with all of them.

Nice safe looking couch. 3 stools of doom.

Bring out Brooke White. Clip of them from last night behind.
Why agree with awkward. It was out of my zone.

Brooke you are in the Top Ten.

Ryan gets her to the right part of the couch while Carly has snuck out to center stage.

Carly is in the bottom three tonight.

Paula booing and shaking her head. America got it wrong. Randy says got it wrong, but one of the best singers. She takes a stool

I don't think the But the music industry is so hard sass helped her.

David Archuleta sent out.

He is in the top 10.

Here is Michael Johns.

He says he is worried. Was it the right song, he says absolutely.

Michael you are in the top 10

Two more people to share the bottom three with Carly, find out live after the break.

Okay, AI, I'm surprised that Carly is in the bottom 3. I didn't expect her to be there. I am not her biggest fan, but I didn't expect the bottom 3 for her this early.

"RE: Results 1.0"
Posted by Snidget on 03-19-08 at 08:25 PM
This seems a bit early for a bottom three scare for her. I don't think she is going tonight.

"RE: Results 1.0"
Posted by memzoo48 on 03-19-08 at 08:29 PM
If AI was a singing competition, Carly would be one of the last 3 standing. Since it isn't, she deserves to stay at least a couple more weeks, past KKKristy and Chikezie.

"RE: Results 1.0"
Posted by Maroonclown on 03-19-08 at 08:27 PM
I too was surprised at Carly. If she goes it will be her lack of ability to communicate with the crowd

"RE: Results 1.0"

That, or the ugly tat combined with the chip on her shoulder, which was on display during judging last night.

"RE: Results 1.0"
Posted by emydi on 03-20-08 at 09:14 AM
or in my cynical mind...she was low maybe 7th or 8th but not in bottom 3 and since they can't have their plant going out before the finals with David A, they put her there to get pity votes next week and scare her fans into voting for her

"RE: Results 1.0"

Carly has a good voice, and would be great on soundtrack. But not video or the stage, with her lack of camera sense and facial expressions that shut out the viewer/listener. I think she'll make it, because the next bottom two are almost surely worse vocally and not much better on stage.

"Ford Video"
Posted by Snidget on 03-19-08 at 08:27 PM
The making of the Ford Video clip.

David Cook plays the director.
Jason holds the UFO as a stage hand.

It is freezing where they are shooting.

Now for the Video.

"RE: Ford Video"
Posted by frodis on 03-19-08 at 08:30 PM
I think the video is kind of cute, but...

This song has WAY too strong a line for their wimpy little voices. Was that mixed poorly or is something up with the sound on my TV?

"RE: Ford Video"
Posted by cahaya on 03-19-08 at 08:33 PM
It was the mix, and maybe a post-edit sound fix. Not bad, though, considering the short time frame they did it in. Most pro commericials take weeks, if not months, to shoot from concept to final edit.

I enjoy their cheesiness. I feel like we see some of them drop their guard a bit and show some of their more real selves.

And David C loved, loved, loved hamming it up. He was in plays in high school so they cast it well.

And yes, they turn these ads out fast for an ad...they just compress all the steps and stick with the storyboard but still, it is fast for an ad.

David Cook, film of last night behind again.

America voted sofas top ten?
The sofas are going on the tour?

Kristy Lee Cook.
How do you think you did?
I did pretty good, vocal range was good and my strongest performance.

She is in the bottom three tonight, banished to the stools.

Jason Castro

You are in the top ten, take a seat.

Ramiele
Do you regret not sticking to a ballad, a little bit.
You are in the top ten.

Carly and Kristy in danger, who joins them, after the break.

"America has questions"
Posted by Snidget on 03-19-08 at 08:39 PM
Line 3.
Why do you spend so much money on cars and not on clothes, for Simon.

Cheryl Ann, that is a very rude question. It is implying I look terrible. Unlike some other people on this show I actually don't have an ego. I don't think about what I'm wearing in advance.
Ryan says don't be mean to Paula, Simon says he wasn't talking about her.
Ryan says he has to look like a host.

Next Question
Huge fan of Paula. Jessica.
If you filmed the kiss what would the plot be for the sequel.
Yes, Simon would consider it.

Because Paula is a very good kisser. Ryan says there is time to get to second base.

Next question. Line 5.

What is the last song you downloaded on your ipod for Ramiele.

R. Kelly I'm a Flirt.

Line 6. Linda.
For Michael. Has your experience been everything you thought it would be.

Everything and more. More stressful, and apparently I peaked in Hollywood, and hopefully I can get it back.

Out of time

I wonder if, over time, Kellie P will overtake Carrie U. is sales. I think Kellie has positioned herself extremely well to take the country diva crown/mantle of Dolly Parton. She has the personality for a longggg career. Carrie doesn't display the same warmth and charm that Kellie does.

It will be interesting to look back in ten years or so and see who is doing what from the AI alumni. I can see a special in the works already! For 2018, lol.

But actually, closer in, AI could have a really, really big season in three years--the ten year anniversary of AI and bring back all its former winners and other key standouts like Clay, Daughtry, Kellie P, etc..... that would be 2011. They only need to keep the show on for two more seasons and then cash in on the big anniversary.

not a chance. carrie underwood will be around until she dies or goes pop. kellie pickler will be a novelty for a few more years and then she'll fade away. she's not even in the same category as dolly parton. dolly wasn't a dumb blonde...and she didn't try to capitalize on being brainless and a bimbo.

Oh Man! She took it like a much more mature person. That's what I think sunk her is that everyone saw her as way older than her years. She's a care-giver - she's a nurse - and she had to be concnerned about getting country-chick to go back and take a seat.

And the fact that she said even though she was number 11 (ONE SPOT AWARE FROM TOUR) she said it was quite the run.

She's got a hell of a lot of class.

Kristy has no star quality and she can't sing. I like her, but she leaves me with nothing.

Hey guys -

OK, i'm disappointed, but honestly not shocked.

On a lackluster night, for Amanda to go first...it was in many ways the kiss of death for her. If there would have been more great performances and more trainwrecks, hers would have been in the middle, but that is not how it panned out so as i said, i'm not shocked. I loved her audition, loved hollywood, and since Hollywood she failed to WOW me since. Still love the style, but i quickly became aware that she wouldn't go far.

what i was shocked by was Carly in the middle.

And how terrible would it be to be Kristy right now. Another week in the bottom two. Dang.

Does anyone know teh theme for next week? If Ryan said it - i missed it!

Just guessing here, but I'm thinking it'll be Country Music week with Dolly Parton.

They announced her first, and they usually do a country theme fairly early on.

"RE: AI7 3/19 Top 11-results East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by zazzy on 03-19-08 at 10:10 PM
Here's a bit of trivia from Wiki about Dolly (and Andrew Lloyd Webber, too, coincidentally) but catch the part about Jessica Simpson!:

"On Dec. 3, 2006, Dolly Parton was honored by the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for her lifetime of contributions to the arts. Other 2006 honorees included Zubin Mehta, Steven Spielberg, Smokey Robinson and Andrew Lloyd Webber. During the show, some of country music's biggest names came to show their admiration. Carrie Underwood performed Dolly's hit "Islands in the Stream" with original duet partner Kenny Rogers. Alison Krauss performed "Jolene" and duetted "Coat of Many Colors" with Shania Twain. Vince Gill performed "I Will Always Love You" which he duetted with Dolly. Jessica Simpson sang "9 to 5" but left the stage mid-way through after messing up the lyrics. The broadcast on national television did not include her performance. Reba McEntire & Reese Witherspoon also came to pay tribute."

Dolly would be one of the earlier mentors because her tour, which she postponed due to back problems, starts up again in later April. Plus she has a new album to promote, Backwoods Barbie. Her website message board says April 1 and 2 for AI...so not next week.

http://www.dollypartonmusic.net/site.php?&content=community&com=board&brd=topic_224978

I had read on MJ's BB that the Idols were working on songs from the year they were born and that was shoved aside to do the Beatles week two, which is what created a bit of a time squeeze on the Beatles material preparation for round 2. So, maybe they pick up that theme for next week?

And **if** the theme is songs from the year they were born...then Michael could do some Queen! 1978!!!

(It would be largely another 80's theme week except for Michael and David A--his would be in the 90's).
