Please keep all discussion of which of our idols are voted out tonight on this thread until after the West Coast finishes bemoaning the state of the electorate in this country.

Remember, no sig pics. Every time you post a sig pic they dump another barrel of Paula's Joy Juice into the swimming pool at the Big Brother House. Think of the crazy poor, brave, live feeders and save them from the escalating insanity.

I just want you to know you are the reason I hate not having a computer at home! (that was a compliment of the highest order)

"Drink of the night"
Posted by whimsey on 02-28-08 at 08:07 PM
Hey Snidget! How are you feeling? I hope tonight's theme doesn't put you over the edge.

Drinks: Singapore Slings, Kamikaze, and for the faint of heart - Bellinis.

Snacks: Fondue ... Yeah, baby! With crab dumplings, Thai steak wraps (for my neighbor - who has lost 9lbs in the last 2 weeks)and for dessert ....lemon squares (my favorite I had the best ones ever tonight at a reception).

Woo Hoo for neighbor!!!

I've lost 4 pounds in the last two weeks.

I lost 12 pounds in one week but it wasn't good! I strongly dislike morning sickness!

I am drinking a rum & diet cherry coke with 3 marischino cherries and some cherry juice poured in.

I need it after the crap I read today in another forum.

I just hope my buzz wears off after LOST.

I just realized I could have used Kool Aid.

Add more cherry juice, after you add more rum

And for gosh's sake stay away from the KoolAid!!

This is American Idol. Robbie's got the bandana on again and Amanda looks like she lost her puppy.

End of the line for 4 brave contestants. 31 million votes came in.

Randy, themes, purpose. We know everyone here knows every song on the radio, can you do something with better songs from yesteryear.

Paula, is it hard to give up control. Tougher for him, we are responsible for this wonderful talent, it is about connecting with America.

Simon, Ryan's Mom pointed something out. Simon's 1/2 moose. It is code. There is a gesture I could give you but I won't.

Group sing 70's song medley.

I liked the medley a lot. Thought the guys harmonized really well and thought both Kristy and Carly really shone through. Worried about Amanda though....

ETR: Sigpic. I'm outa practice..

Ryan ribbing Simon on the 1/2 moose was a hoot. And the way Ryan closed out that segment, with his one hand up on his head like it was glued there, was really funny. I would love to see the gag reel they have on AI, with a string of all these gags between Ryan and Simon.

And how many shows will Ryan go where he does not introduce Simon? Is he going to go for a complete season, because Simon needs no intro? Sort of a back handed compliment?

That I want to punch that David A. in the face?

On a positive note...I am very impressed with the songs that are shown on AI this season so far.

If we can get by with NO CELINE DION I will be very happy.

Oh My God!!! That would be a wonderful day, but I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. There is always that one girl who thinks she is good enough to do Celine...grrrr.

"LOL"
Posted by zombiebaby on 02-28-08 at 08:17 PM
I don't think Celine Dion is good.

Although her constant Velveeta is winning me over to not make fun of her as much.

Too late! Celine Dion recorded "All By Myself," which Asia'h butchered last night.

I think she was going for the Celine version than the 1970's version of that song.

"It's Official"

I am completely behind the guys this year. They are tons better than the women.

I think I might throw my pretend votes behind, David C., Jason C. and maybe Micheal Johns cause I am superficial. Oh Brooke will get my pretend girl vote.

So says the Zombs, so it is written.

All of my pretend votes are going to the superficial this year. Squishey Michael Johns and recently noticed squishey Luke.

"Act One"

Some results, starting with the guys.

Highlights of Tuesday's Show.

Luke is it any easier this week, Nope, everyone says they are still nervous.

Dim the lights. Back Row Stand up.
Michael take a seat
Chikezie you are safe, and he is shocked, take a seat
Jason Castro bad news, you will be interviewed next week.
Leaves us with Jason Yeager and Danny.
Jason, it is the end of the journey. Danny, you are safe.

"RE: Act One"

Danny almost looked shocked that he was standing there maybe about to go home.

I thought he looked more like he was afraid he was going home.

Well, no surprise there. I thought Danny was going to hurl in front of everyone for a moment there....

"RE: Act One"

It was tough for you last night. He thought he might be in the bottom and tried to mentally prepare. Best advice he can take, he felt like I put it out there and was surprised by their critism. Song choice, finding that perfect song that showcases your vocals.

Simon-you need a heck a lot of experience, you don't stand out in a crowd at the moment. You are not a bad singer, you just don't stand out.

Sings one last time.

Dim the lights back row stand up.
It is not going to be Kristy you are safe take a seat
Asia'h take a seat
Brooke took the risk, have a seat.
Leaves us with Amanda and Alexandrea. After the nationwide vote.
Alexandrea it is the end of the road for you tonight.

"RE: Act Two"

I was kinda surprised. Granted I put her in my bottom from last night but I thought she would stick around another week or two.

"RE: Act Two"
Posted by Snidget on 02-28-08 at 08:36 PM
Randy says it was the wrong song. Paula says it is the beginning of her career. Ryan says it is weird to be in the moment.

Sing for Grandma who is back home and didn't' get a chance to be brought out to California. Ryan says he'll go see her.

"RE: Act Two"

I'm not surprised that Amanda made it through one more week, but am a little surprised that Alexandrea went before some of the other girls.

VFTW picks this week were both safe. Amanda and Danny

"RE: Act Two"

I was only half watching her good-bye song...what cute little David A crying and did she go hug him when she was done singing? Awwwww!

"RE: Act Two"
Posted by zazzy on 02-28-08 at 08:43 PM
They were on Star Search together...she lost to him the year that he won.

I thought she sounded better tonight than last night. Glad they did better...instead of the warbles we had last week.

Awwww that is really cute! Yea for Star Search!

"Act Three"
Posted by Snidget on 02-28-08 at 08:44 PM
Now doing the other lady.

Front row stand up.
Carly now feeling better can take a seat, safe.
Ramiele, give Ryan the stink eye, she is safe.
Syesha is safe.
Kady vs Alaina. One lowest total, the other in the bottom three.
Alaina looks like her puppy was killed.
Kady is safe, Alaina is leaving us tonight.

"RE: Act Three"
Posted by cjhope117 on 02-28-08 at 08:46 PM
Again I didn't think she was very good last night but still somewhat of a shocker!

"RE: Act Three"
Posted by Snidget on 02-28-08 at 08:47 PM
Our first breakdown, Alaina crying and saying she can't sing. Ryan just wants to talk. You made it to a small group. Every week someone has to go no matter how good you are. Let's give it up for her one more time. Paula standing and seal clapping.

Paula what to you say to her. You are such a gifted bright young talent, it is hard to hear it is the begining, it is the start, the biggest gift to be on this show and we enjoyed you and we have nothing but you had great experiences we love you.

Ryan tells her this isn't embarassing at all you should be proud of yourself, gives her the option to sing. The girls come down to help her out.

"RE: Act Three"
Posted by bullzeye on 02-28-08 at 08:53 PM
I agree - I thought Kady was a goner as well.

Kinda choked me up when she sang it out.....

"RE: Act Three"
Posted by cjhope117 on 02-28-08 at 08:50 PM
Kady looked completely shocked that she was staying and Alaina was going home. I think she completely expected to be gone this week.

"Really?"
Posted by zombiebaby on 02-28-08 at 08:45 PM
Sour puss Kady makes it past Alaina?

I might have to pretend outrage at that!

"RE: Really?"

LAST EDITED ON 02-28-08 AT 09:31 PM (EST)

If you go back to the night the top 24 were revealed, Jason Y, Alaina, Kady or Alexandrea didn't have any focus that night...so this goes to my theory that it is harder for them to build support from America to begin with*.

I would have put $$ down that Kady was going, though. I thought Alaina was a young Carrie U.

*Robbie did get some focus, and he got props last week so it came down to a lackluster performance this week--and not standing out when in competition with a 16 year old guy who everyone is fawning over.

"RE: Really?"
Posted by Fishercat on 02-28-08 at 08:53 PM
Of the first seven booted, the most featured may be Joanne Borgella who was a Final Chair boot and I believe she was shown in an audition.

And some people think pre-competition attention means nothing.

"RE: Really?"
Posted by zazzy on 02-28-08 at 09:50 PM
You got it. Pimpage starts early. If I could stand to watch the audition rounds I would have documented that, too. Maybe next year I'll clear out enough room in the DVR to keep the audition rounds so I can go back and see who they were pimping out of the top 12 that makes it...and who broke through despite no pimping.

"Act Four"
Posted by Snidget on 02-28-08 at 08:54 PM
coming up BIG IDOL NEWS!!!! *yawn*

Cat Deeley in the house.

On march 11 top 12 will be on the new set. Ruben Studdard recorded an exit strong, The Beatles Song Book will be available for them to sing.

Idol Give Back April 9th. Highlights from last years event.

Oh no.

Not another Idol Gives Back.

Please no. Not again.

"Swan Song Question"
Posted by bullzeye on 02-28-08 at 08:56 PM
Just curious - why on earth do they make the bootee sing the song that got them booted instead of a song of their choice?

I mean think about it from their perspective. "Let's see - I am getting the hoof cause you crapped all over my performance last night, and I get to do it all over again? Thanks a lot AI."

Kind of a sick way to say adios no?

"RE: Swan Song Question"
Posted by ulalame on 02-28-08 at 08:59 PM
I'm guessing it's because both the band and the singer recently rehearsed the song, so it's easier than an impromtpu alternate.

Clearly you don't understand the principle behind Idol. Shame them, embarrass them, break them down. Dam* good TV.

A lot of the time, though, they sound a lot better after they've been booted than when they did on the performance night. Which makes sense - as Nailbone pointed out about, if you've been wracked by worries you're going to get booted, once you actually get booted the pressure is off.

"RE: Swan Song Question"
Posted by Snidget on 02-29-08 at 06:54 AM
I think it is pretty common to have performance under pressure issues. There was an NPR story about a class at Juilliard where they do all sorts of things to help you train to perform well when under stress.

"Act Five"
Posted by Snidget on 02-28-08 at 09:02 PM
Nigel told him during the break gives a list of stars, Nigel giving him the stink eye.

Front row stand up.
Luke Robbie to the center of stage.
The triad of David's are safe.

The person going home tonight is Robbie.
Luke is safe

"RE: Act Five"

Simon advice. It is authenticity, the public saw what we say, never felt real.

Other three finalist going home join for the idol journey montage.

I am happy cute boy Luke is still here (forgive the tween in my 26 year old body) but I am somewhat surprised again. What happened this week?

"RE: Act Five"
Posted by whimsey on 02-28-08 at 09:34 PM
Is it wrong that I want to be a 26 year old life in the form of a tween?
Knowing what I know now and with a tween - or better a 19 year old ...

Jasoh, he deserved it.

Robbie, he deserved it.

Alaina, maybe, i have no real thoughts on her and her twin Kady.

But Alexandrea? She was one of the few unique girls this year, and she had incredible skills. I'm very sad to see her go this week, so early.

The men were no surprise at all to me. I felt they were a very confident guess for most of us.

The girls, though not a shocker, I have to say a bit of a surprise. Not even really bad song selections. I think they just don't have the fan bases. Kady and Amanda were clearly the WORST of the night-to anyone who has a musical ear. Amanda's performance was just a train wreck, but she obviously has a lot of fans/former patients/biker dudes/ as well as the VFTW going for her, I suppose.

Can't figure out what happened with Alayna. I think people, like me are just getting the blondes mixed up, maybe?? I know I have been! But I DID vote for Alexandrea-several times, in hopes she would stay put. Guess it just wasn't enough. Oh well...not the first time things went down that didn't seem right.

"RE: AI7 2/28 Results East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by Corvis on 02-29-08 at 01:05 PM
I was disappointed to see Alaina go. I do think the abundance of blondes is hurting them all.

I was impressed with her sing out. The 17 year old kid pulled it off and sounded better than the previous night. And it did make for great TV.

You also have to give credit to Ryan Seacrest for doing a good job of keeping Alaina together when she was losing it. And of course, good move asking Paula to give her encouragement.

Dittoing Corvis again.

I'm wondering with Alaina gone if Kady will get a bump. I think Alaina fans might go over to Kady.

That makes sense, but will it be a big enough bump to save her?

I think she's gotta really pull off a great performance next week or she is gone.
