"He must know Hutch is an actor"

The show's plan was to start the humor slowly, then begin to exaggerate the characters and the situations. That still left a concern: What if Gould had seen one of these people in an acting role?

After casting David Hornsby to play the bad guy, the producers were chagrined to see his role increasing in HBO's "Six Feet Under." He did seven episodes this season as Paul, the gay guy.

"We checked to see if Matt watches 'Six Feet Under,' " Stanley said. "Of course, it turns out to be one of his favorite shows."

They pondered recasting, then settled for a disguise: Hornsby grew a beard and dyed his hair red.

So he has a good enough memory to recall Gina's speech was given by a Survivor guy, and remembers the guy's name, but he can't recgonize somebody from one of his "favorite shows"? NOT POSSIBLE!

Some people are good at remembering facts but bad at recognizing faces. Matt could be one of those people (I know I am). If he's gone for as long as he has without recognizing him, I don't think he's about to anytime in the future.

I watch 'Six Feet Under' religiously, and I didn't recognize him either.

It's not that big of a stretch.

Yep... the snakes/rats analogies in the first series of Survivor was very memorable. Millions of people saw it, I've seen about one hour total of all survivors and I remember it. I've seen the occasional 6 feet under and didn't recognize the hutch at all.

Judging by what we've already seen of Matt's ability to recognize low-level celebrities based on certain visual cues, I think the actor playing the Hutch is absolutely safe as long as he doesn't remove a bikini top to give Matt a good look at his breasts.

And if _that_ somehow manages to happen, the ratings are going to go through the roof.

maybe because we find your premise to be hopelessly, utterly, entirely and monumentally wrong.

I always find it's best to quote Bill Murray in situations like this. So, "Hey, lighten up Francis"

This show is nothing more than what it appears to be: a reality show parody being shown on a new network for men, full of inside jokes and references to the genre and aimed at the most low-brow of audiences.

Dude, you gotta stop listening to the voices in your head. The dog is not commanding you to kill anyone. The porn star is not representative of expoited chicks in burquas. And this show is most certainly not a clever, subversive attempt to discredit the war in Iraq with elusive symbolism.

I promise.

that's it vernon. You've hit the nail on the proverbial head. We're all stupid and only you have the intellectual ability to see the real truth. Boy, do I feel chagrined.

P.S. Approximately how much time have you invested in researching every participant in this show to prove your little theory? Cause that's really a productive way to harness that tremendous brain power of yours.

So, Pooh, when are you going to tell vernon about your book club? *laughs*

Or is that after the kool-aid initiation?

I didn't get a chance to address this the way I wanted to this morning. I had to go into a meeting at my dead-end nine-to-five job. (does anyone still get to work nine-to-five with a paid hour lunch anymore?)

>thats not what i meant...yes the
>iraq things far-fetched...
You think it's far fetched, yet you have produced a rather lengthy manifesto detailing it here. If you think it is unlikely, why did you do that? Also, suggesting patently ridiculous theories like your Iraqi one only serves to marginalize you. It makes it impossible to take anything you say seriously.

BUT WHY IS
>EVERYONE HERE SO INSISTENT JOE
>DON'T KNOW!!!!!!!!!!...i mean c'mon its
>soooooooooooooooooo bloody obvious...
Why are you so zealous about this? Do you have a personal grudge against either the show or its participants? Your anger certainly strains your credibility. You have invested quite a bit of time here trying to prove to all of us that Joe Schmo is in on the gag. Honestly, who cares? Why do you feel so compelled to try and change our minds. Can't you just be happy knowing thatyou are so much more perceptive than everyone else? Maybe it is possible to enjoy the show as it is intended to be enjoyed: as a parody. Maybe the people you are mocking aren't the ones who take the show too seriously dude.

wait a minute...this
>site is for people who
>watch oodles of television...people who
>watch oodles of television are
>typically dimmer than others...
So, you advance your argument by calling us dumb? And this is a good debating technique in what way? It's usually the first sign of someone caving."My argument has no merits but you are a big stupid head". My seven year old debates better than you.

oh! the
>voices just said something "you're
>all dumb"....thats why they make
>reality shows....you go to your
>dead-end 9 to 5 jobs
>and talk about who'll win
>the latest show at the
>water-cooler because you have nothing
>better to do..........
And your idea of a better way to fill up your days is researching the participants of a low-rated reality show on cable and then writing lengthy diatribes about them on the internet. Gotcha Sparky.

now even the
>people that make these shows
>are laughing at you.........whew! i
>get it now..its kinda ironic
>actually
Yeah, THAT's what is ironic here.

Very good answer, Lisapooh --- I couldn't have said it better myself.

vernonwells, we enjoy your presence, but, as Lisapooh points out, your methods of "debating" your ideas undercut any credibility they might have ... and you must follow the forum posting guidelines from now on, as pointed out above.

Locking this thread.

I know the guy that plays the Hutch is supposed to be on a new show "The Mullet" and knowing that and looking for him in the promos, I still can't tell which one he is. Either I'm just blind (which may be true) or he's disguised himself well enough that he looks like a different person on Schmoe.

Really...my eyesight is bad.
