1. Starting off with bad audition
2. Showing how "tough" Paula can be
3. More guest judges
4. TOns of Ryan Seacrest filler in first 8 minutes already

True, but she has all of my disdain. She's the poster child for narcissisum. Well, ok - there was that other Braxton guy that is a contender for that honor.

Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

Agree...I don't think I can last with this show. I am out of here at 9 like I am sure you and Vols are for TAR.

Regina sells her wedding ring to audition for the show. She sings Misty but I don't think she is that good. They send her to Hollwood even though Simon says she is not good enough.

Was it just me or did this chick seem a little TOO obsessed? Selling your wedding ring, auditioning even though your husband doesn't like it, barely acknowledging said husband after being told that you're going to Hollywood?

Get a life!

I was actually very touched by Regina. I'm glad she at least gets to go to Hollywood although I doubt she'll make it very far. I'd like to hear more of her singing. She could be very good, I think. I hope she can get it together--she's pretty unstable.

Mz. Storm, for his abysmal performance of "Tomorrow".
I sang it better when I was 10. No one wants to see a big guy singing little girl songs.

sad.

Still no one like Hung. Probably won't be.

Years past, someone in the first show would be spectacular.

Not this time. It was just abysmal.
As pointed out earlier, most of these people are
auditioning to be the next Willie Hung.

If our winner was in this bunch we saw tonight, I'll buy Fantasia's album.

i *think* we're supposed to root for the eddie-vedder-look-alike -- Constantine??? The guy in the band. Waaaay too much background info for someone who's gonna get cut soon.

i thought that was the problem with last year's AI. They didn't really give us enough info about contestants in the preliminary shows to really help us care one way or the other about outcome.

don't get me wrong, i love the bad singers. but if they don't emphasize SOMEONE with talent, what's the point?!?

"RE: They all svcked"
Posted by mrc on 01-19-05 at 10:17 AM
I agree about Constantine. Remember, though, they also got us (okay, maybe me) emotionally invested in Scooter Girl and we know what happened to her.

I think we all pretty much just enjoyed the McGrath wit and sparkly
good looks. Weird that he's actually talented, too.

I think having the guest judges now, and not later (when the judging counts more and guests usually just try to find a way not to be cruel) is a good idea.

Still felt dirty watching at some moments (the poor guy who totally froze, and wept...it was pure sadism to continue to film and watch)...the possibly psychopathic gal with the acne and short blonde hair...

Glad they put Paula on different meds this year.

Does anybody know at what point they first show the later 'winners' at the first of the show? I remember seeing Clay Aiken audition, and I think I remember seeing Fantasia audition, but I cant remember seeing Ruben, Latoya, Kelly, Diana, and other 'greats' audition? On what nights did we see them first?
Can anybody help me remember?

I vaguely remember Kelly Clarkson's audition too, but I think they only showed after she was in the Top 10.

I recall she was really outgoing and joked around with the judges, possibly changing places with them for a second?

Considering I can barely remember what I had for breakfast this morning, I am surprised I remember this much.
