Ryan asks the judges if America got it right. Paula rambles on about how proud they should be of themselves. Simon says America got it right. Randy is surprised that Gina is there.

I am actually totally shocked...she was one of the only contestants that I still liked.

Eh, it was bound to happen. I would have preferred for Phil to go this week, cuz I really like Gina as a singer as well as a hot chick.

But Phil and Haley will be the next two. Then, MAYBE, Sanjaya. Then they'll have to start saying goodbye to the really good ones.

I've never been a big Gina fan, but I was very sorry to see her go before all of those people that we know should have gone instead. I hate to see people crying, so I was crying right along with her as she sang. What a tough song to sing when you're crying! But she did a great job.

I was a Gina fan, but I wasn't totally surprised. I thought her having to sing "Smile" again was touching and then I thought seeing the contestants (Jordin, Melinda, Sanjaya) tear up would make me join them but I didn't shed a tear until Chris hugged her.

Have you rewatched it? You can see the lyrics really dawning on her as she sings it. Maybe a lesson for all of them as the judges have been emphasizing understanding the meaning of the lyrics to the contestants.

Yeppers. I am officially calling this the Worst.Season.Ever. At least in the other sucky season (season 3) their pimping wasn't quite as obvious. I still vote for a do-over. Just hand Melinda the win and give us another season this year.

It seems that getting Lakisha in the top 3 is one of the least predicted possibility tonight.

They didn't do so well this week with the order of the bottom three.

I think why Gina did well in the Raw Busy numbers may have been people using dial idol seeing her low in the early returns and trying to save her.

A shout out to the claivoyant prosecutor who called it exactly on the should go/will go thread. His/her commentary looks spot on as well--Phil saved by military buds and Haley by her assets, lol. He/she called Gina boring last night. Guess the fan base for Gina was not galvanized.

It does seem that the weeks Gina is more rocker chick she tended to be safer than weeks when she wasn't.

While I liked her singing this song, it wasn't one that would work her fan base.

The three girls are clearly the only really good singers in the comp.
I do predict they will keep little joker on until the final 4 and then everyones concience will force them to kick him off.
The problem..or perhaps the saddest aprt of all this is that..I hope..Sanjaya understands that everyone is LAUGHING AT HIM.....making him a big funny joke...a big joke that he gets to come back each week and be lame.

The show is going to pot kids.

There's money in promoting Sanjaya. Look at William Hung:

He has sold over more cd's than many top 10 AIers in the past 5 seasons.

Sanjaya will outsell William Hung imo--with the right marketing. (cover of Teen Beat or whatever they call those mags these days, etc.).

His brand awareness is huge at this point. It's not about music with him now; it is about commerce. Heck, he may even be a draw for the AI concert this summer.
