"RUMOR ALERT"

Posted by jkokoj on 02-20-02 at 02:22 PM
I am posting the following alleged spoiler from 2 other sites that I have visited.

I want to hear from the folks on this board as you appear to be the most methodical and logical speculators.

<<Cruise ship spolier
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi I'm new the new guy on the block, so be
easy with any flames. I found this spolier
on the survivor newsgroup so I don't know
if its true.

From: Survivor Reports (survivorreports@bigfoot.com)
Subject: SPOILER: 7th and 8th Survivor Bootees Revealed on Cruise Ship!
Newsgroups: alt.tv.survivor
Date: 2002-02-19 23:42:48 PST

Two former employees of Cruise West, a company that owns
a fleet of luxury cruise ships, have anonymously revealed
the 7th and 8th castaways to be booted off Survivor Marquesas,
the 4th installment of the popular U.S. game show.

The Explorer class renaissance vessel "Spirit of Oceanus" was
chartered by Mark Burnett and his production company SEG
for crew use off of Marquesas archipelago during filming
in Nuku Hiva, the location for Survivor 4.

During the early part of December while these two employees
worked aboard the vessel in unspecified positions, they witnessed
the 7th and 8th castways who were voted off come aboard the
Spirit of Oceanus for a 3-day stay before taking a smaller
ship to an unknown location.

The 7th person, now identified as John Carroll, came aboard
approximately December 6 or 8 and stayed in room 347, which
is located on the second deck of the Oceanus, and comes
complete with private balcony.

The 8th person voted off came onboard a few days later, and
has been correctly identified as Tammy Leitner, who was
also given an adjacent room on the same deck.

Near the end of December, the employees also witnessed
a large crate escorted onto the Oceanus by crew personnel
and , which was referred and labeled as "Tribal Umete 1-4".
This crate was placed in a securely locked and guarded room
in the lower deck of Oceanus. This is now believed to be the
voting box, or one of 4 voting boxes that were used in final
tribal council on Coletta Bay, and possibly contains the final
votes for the ultimate winner of the game show.

Other crates containing parts of dismantled sets were also
escorted and loaded onto the Oceanus and marked for unloading
in Manhattan, New York.

Maureen Camandona, the Director of Corporate Communications
for Cruise West, would neither confirm nor deny the reports
due to signed charter contract between Cruise West and SEG. >>

So what do you guys think??

I think it sounds a lot like the "limo driver" rumor in S2.

Well, the 7th and 8th aspect of this is suspicious since traditionally 7th is pre-jury, 8th is first jurist, and MB has made it his practice starting with S2 to keep pre-jury and jury separate from each other until after the game is concluded. I don't know what else to make of this yet, there may be something in it, but I don't think we should take it at face value.

Although it may be true, it sounds a bit suspicious to me as well. Since contestant #8 is the first member of the jury, why would they be sent to the same ship as the non-jury members to stay for a few days, only to be shuttled back and forth. Also, wasn't there mention in an earlier thread there were two "ships" used?

Regardless, if this is true, wouldn't the cruise company now be liable to MB and his minions? I would think the "unamed" employees would have signed confidentiality agreements as well.

"Calendar of Events"

jkokoj, thanks for posting this! Interesting?

Here's an excerpt from the "Calendar of Events" thread. It includes references from the translations of the Tahitipresse articles. Let's compare...

---------------------------------------------------------------
EP7: 10 Survivors

Day 19, Friday, 11/30
Day 20, Saturday, 12/1
RC(swap or traditional merge)
On the other hand, up to now, the two tribes, composed of 16 contestants, has been located at Hakaui and Hakatea. It is learned today that one of them finds themselves at Hakapaa. The second tribe remains at Hakaui.” (Tahitipresse, 12/2)

Day 21, Sunday, 12/2
IC/Tribal Council…7th voted out
“The seventh candidate was voted off the set on Monday, and joined the others resting in Anaho, a valley in the north of the island, to await the eventual outcome.” (Tahitipresse, 12/4)

“The Tribunal (Survivor Tribal Council) has met Thursday December 6, 2001, in the Colette Bay (Haeotupa), in Nuku Hiva, to eliminate, this same evening, its seventh contestant of the American television reality show "Survivor".(Tahitipresse, 12/7)

EP8: 9 Survivors

Day 22, Monday, 12/3
RC(or delayed merge)
“Friday December 7, in the morning, the nine survivors were merged into one tribe, who have returned to Hakapaa, until the finish of the show.” (Tahitipresse, 12/7)

“The seven candidates eliminated have been, up to then, secluded in secret, at first on the cruise ship "Spirit of Oceanus", anchored in Taiohae Bay, then at the beginning of the week of Dec 3, in a valley near Anaho, have been shifted Thursday Dec 6 to the finish of the journey to another site, always in the greatest secrecy.” (Tahitipresse, 12/7)

”These very special candidates have been placed in secret locations in Nuku Hiva. They first were brought to the "Spirit of oceanus" cruise ship, in the Taiohae bay. Then, they moved earlier this week to another valley not far away from Anaho (north of the island). Their current location remains secret so far.” (Tahitipresse, 12/7)

“The final countdown to the end of the "Survivor" TV show goes on.
The Survivor tribunal met once more, thursday december 6th 2001, in the Colette bay (Haeotupa), in Nuku Hiva and another castaway has been out voted out of the tribes.
There are only nine castaways left. These nine candidates have now teamed up to create one single tribe.”

Day 23, Tuesday, 12/4
Day 24, Wednesday, 12/5
IC/Tribal Council…8th voted out
“The judgment on the Tekuatoa and Katupa case handed out by the Papeete court, Wednesday december 5th 2001, satisfied the "Survivor" producers. The judgment said the Tekuatoa and Katupa families had no rights to seize the material filmed. They were even sentenced to pay the "Survivor" lawyer fees.” (Tahitipresse, 12/5)
---------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion:
It looks like this is a fabrication created by someone who read the Tahitipresse articles and accepted them as fact. While the Tahitipresse articles match the "rumored" arrival dates of Dec 6-8. The "Calendar of Events" shows that the 7th person would actually be booted out on 12/2...4-6 days sooner that rumored!

Here's the link to the full calendar:

A good effort at fabrication, but it should be ignored as a spoiler...

In S3, we were largely spared these wild rumors, which were so prevalent in S2. Looks like they are about to reappear in S4. Too bad ... we didn't miss them.

This says that room 347 comes with a balcony but according to the cruise lines official web sight

http://www.cruisewest.com/

there is no balcony.

>CLASSIC SUITES
>(Cabins 330, 332-348, 414-415)

>Classic Suites located on the Lounge Deck feature a picture >window right in the hull and have two wardrobes. Two Classic >Suites located on the Upper Deck have a picture window opening >to a walkway and a partial forward view. Classic Suites average >250 square feet.

>Twin or king beds.

Plus rooms thatlow to the water would NOT have a balcony. They would be constantly wet and dangerous. You would think Un named crew members would know that. Looks like Uncle Cameraman got a new job on a cruise ship.

Come in a stranger, leave a little stranger

good find big toms goat. I very rarely post, but I'm with the majority of folks, here. This just sounds fishy. How could this even possibly have leaked out without "Band O' Mark" sueing and claiming the first born of both the supposed employees.

However, the one thing that did strike me as odd is that if the whole 14 member jury thing turns out to hold some truth to it (1 of the 3 "new surprises" this season) the 7th and 8th person would have potentially been together, right? Not that I think it holds any merit, but just a thought...

...Let us not forget the fact that everyone laughed at the thought of there being a "Pascal English" on the show...hmmmm...

1 more week.....

I agree this does sound false, because of being jury and non-jury members. But also if this were from a crew member, why do they only know numbers 7 and 8? What about 1 thru 6, wouldn't they have been on this ship also?

I really hope this is false. I want John and Tammy to be the final 2 contestants in the show.

I can't believe I am even responding to this since it has been blown away above, but the idea of a voting box being put on a cruise ship is just laughable. As if MB and CBS would let anything even remotely vote related out of their sight.
