""Pop" week"

Posted by geekboy on 03-23-07 at 09:41 AM
Next week w/ Gwen Stefani is going to be "Pop Week", which opens up a HUUUUUUUUGE list of potential songs.

I'm afraid this is going to be another week of "I love this song, its my favorite, I just wanted to sing it on TV for my Grandma" type of reasoning, instead of intelligent song selection. Could be another 'down' week with a good share of trainwrecks.

Now, what would you LIKE to see each of the top 10 sing this week?

The contestants I could care less about but I "am" interested to see Gwen and how she does as a mentor.

Yeah, I've been negative since the Top 24. This season has totally bombed in my household and we are American Idol freaks. So sad to wait so long on this season and be so totally disappointed. Makes it worse actually.

I understand where you are coming from. I see this season as a big mixed-bag. Yes, there were some initally bad cuts in Hollywood, and some mistakes i feel when the 24 were cut to 12...

But I see a lot of positives this season also.

* We're seeing very little of the overdone AI songs.
* A lot more contemporary songs are being sung
* Different themes (so far)
* A good mix of styles in the contestants

And I still love the show.

my sweet geek always with the glass half full.

and I totally got you dissing clonepuppy in your original post. I thought it was CUTE that he dedicated his song to his grandma. 'member the dance he did when he said she was probably at home dancing? so cute.

** SMOOCH **

Clonepuppy? Is that what you're calling him now? Yeah, its cute and all, but these people FORGET they're in a competition and its not 'jump on the stage night and sing a song'.

And what's wrong with a 'glass half full' attitude? Are you saying there is nothing good about this season?

hey, even Haley gave us some oobie action this week.

the glass half full thing is one of the reasons I like you so much. *smooch*

I'm not saying there is nothing good this season. I'm just saying I got spoiled last season. But. There is still time for somebody to make me care about them this year.

Well, if any of these contestants peeked my interest "just a bit" all of these changes this year might mean something. But...since I do find this year yawn worthy then all these things were a waste for this particular season. For me at least.

I honestly believe Reality TV is on its downward spiral. Just about every reality show I watch has flat out sucked for its just past or current season.

Good point. Maybe they realized this season was going to be a snoozefest for most of us so they decided to spice it up and give us new material.

Interesting. I haven't thought of that.
Rock Star, of course, being a major exception. Then again, that was last year...

Ha! The two shows that were excluded from the suckage group were the last seasons of RockStar and SYTYCD. That kinda makes me fearful of them for this year though...will they suck too? Or in RockStar's case will there even be one this year? Depressing thought.

Some speculatory speculations:

Sangina should do "Vogue"

KatPee v2.0 should do something by Hilary Duff

PWE v2.0 should do "Superfreak"

Timberfake should do something with runs for a refreshing change

Jordin should do a Kelly Clarkson

LaKliche and Melinda should do Whitney or Celine (duh)

Beaker the Beatboxer should do Timberlake, just to ##### off Timberfake

Slimon should do Ryan

Sligh should do Sangina doing Meatloaf

Gina should do some wannabe-rawker chick stuff like Avril Lavigne

Rolly made this.

"Beaker the Beatboxer should do Timberlake, just to ##### off Timberfake"
this,^,is a great idea.
either lakisha or melinda doing whitney or celine, again!, would drop them a few notches for me.
please jordin, no kelly c, inevitably the derogatory "comparison" commentary would result regardless of how well done.
Sangina should do "Vogue"
rotflmao!

I am going to guess that Blake will do Michael Jackson. I'm not sure what's considered "pop" nowadays.
