Don't worry. Your odds are very good that NBC is exactly that desperate.

Its ratings probably weren't that good or they'd have brought it back. And that debacle last summer couldn't have helped. My money's on them trying again after a few more Bach & 'ette seasons to build up some new blood.

UGH! Are you serious??? I love that show. I think I might like it even more than bach/ette.

Yeah, too bad. At least Bachelor Pad doesn't have the phony pretense of them "falling for each other" after 3 dates. It's just about hooking up and stabbing each other in the back.

and that's what I liked about it. That's why I watched.

I think it sucks that Nick is taking the blame for no Bach Pad anymore. He did what he was given the option to do, and he did, and now there's no more BP. Sucks. It was such a good, trashy show.

What Nick did to Rachel probably wasn't the only factor in BP's demise, but it had to have contributed to it. ABC can spout all the family values bull$hit they want, but there had to have been a pretty big backlash over what Nick did, and the real reason ABC axed BP had to be because they feared lower ratings. Ratings are the almighty god (small "g") of TV, and if ABC could get big enough ratings off BP they would be doing it again, no matter how bad its family values sucked. I think they bring it back in a year or 2 with a retooled format that eliminates what Nick pulled on Rachel, perhaps a BB-style live finale night jury vote between the final couple, and they wait to bring it back till they get the right mix of people. But there ain't no way they let "family values" keep them from bringing it back if it can make money, because TV's only value IS money, and family hasn't got jack squat to do with that.

Yes, but I still think it's ridiculous to cancel it.

They're cancelling it because they fear that people won't watch. No ratings = no show. That's true, but who are these people who would be boycotting the show? I mean, the reason we watch the show is that IT IS sleazy. Geesh, if the boycotters don't like what Nick did, why did they watch the show in the first place? It's a sleazy show. Why did they watch in the first place if they don't like sleaze? If ABC airs a sleazy show and, God forbid, a person does something sleazy *gasp*, that's when they decide they're going to boycott it? The watched KNOWING it's a sleazy show.

Either ABC is jumping the gun, thinking people won't watch, or the viewers (some of them, anyway - enough of them, I guess) really are that ridiculous that they won't watch because they're (wrongly) picced off at Nick.

Just very silly.

I really don't think that many people would not watch BP for honestly felt "values" reasons. They might decline to watch it because they thought Rachel got a raw deal or because the format is unfair, but "values"? If you honestly buy that, I'd like to sell you some oceancront property in Timbuktu.
