"Wild Hanlons"

Could they have picked a better team to decipher codes, figure out how to refract light, and make use of US history? Why do you think they were cast? Did they forge their Mensa membership cards?

Favorite quote so far: "2 visible heads + 4 heads total = 24, that must be one of the numbers for the safe!"

They are making this show hilarious to watch, I hope they last a while.

I totally agree. They are just a riot to watch especially when they are arguing with each other. Just a hunch on my part, but I don't think they'll last too awfully long but I hope they at least out last Team Genius. Now that would be funny.

While it was the Y.P. own fault for listening to T.G. instead of following thier own gut-feelings, I was really hoping when TG had given the Wild Hanlons answer and then forgot it themselves that the Y.P. would beat them to the punch. Oh well.

Anyway the Wild Hanlons stand a good chance to make it thru the next show. Why? Because the previews hint that the Browns will be back (probably the Grads can't continue with the bad foot).

If there is one team that can be worse than the W.H. it is the Browns! W.H. may not be very bright, but they do seem healthy, they can climb stairs and hillsides with heart attacks, I think they can all swin, and they have a leader who leads. Note: not a bright leader, but a leader none the less.

The Browns have - well I guess they have the Browns.

The W.H. stand a very good chance of beating them as long as the puzzle does not need a grade 8 or higher education.

I was able to watch the latest episode last night. I'm still giggling about the burger run.

I think they chose them for their entertainment value. I get a huge kick out of watching them fumble around.

I feel kinda sorry for the kid. He's the only one who has any sense and they keep ignoring him.

They are very smart. They were able to find a Burger King in the middle of nowhere. How good is that!!! I guess their GPS has a "Find the nearest restaurant" feature.

I just want to say that I actually cheered when they got the last compass.

I am afraid that when they go, the show will not be as entertaining.

I also was rooting for them. They are likeable and fun to watch. That's more than I can say for the Browns.

What gets me is that the two older Hanlons seem totally unaware how dumbly they are playing the game. They never see anything wrong about thier own actions and never really try to improve thier gameplay.

The Browns on the otherhand seem very aware of thier short comings, and those are so major I am not sure why they entered this game (travel?) because they are sure not to win. Thinking worse case if the fattest Brown had the same accident that the Grad did, his weight would have cause him a major bone fracture.

Why do the Browns think they can run this race, and do the Hanlons ever think?

This team should have been called "Josh and his Idiot Kin". Maybe NBC can give him a shot on another show where the other 2 numbskulls can't hold him back. Every intelligent idea he had was dismissed by the Beverly Hillbillies. He should have jumped to the Grad Student team when that one girl went down.

I didn't like their comments about the Browns and their refusing to let the Browns on the boat with them. It wasn't their fault the Grads had to drop out. The Browns did get lucky, but the remarks were rude. I loved that the young 'un apologized to one of the Browns. That young 'un is pretty smart and he's the one that figured out the roman numerals, except for the L. I think he's also the one who thought to turn out the lights in the schoolroom.

I'm with you on this point. Yes, the Hanlons are hysterically funny, mostly because I'm a Texan, and I know a lot of Texans and Arkansan friends and relatives who are a lot like the Hanlons. They're incredibly entertaining. What I can't tolerate is their racism (I'm speaking only of the two elder Hanlons, by the way). IMO that, at its core, is THE reason they didn't like the Browns and why they refused to let them on the boat.

Personally, I'm suspicious of how, in the mine, after being stupid enough to actually get lost, not just briefly, but for HOURS, they come back from commercial break and suddenly, voila!, they've figured out not only how to navigate but also how to solve the clue.

Is it possible that NBC execs finally had to admit, "Look, there is no WAY these morons are ever going to find their way back to daylight, let alone solve the clue and stay in the game, so we're going to have to 'splain it to them."

I don't know, I'm just really suspicious, and what happened at the Tower Rock "code" clue just reinforces my suspicions. The Hanlons upon first seeing the code don't even have enough sense to use the decipher they were given -- instead, they try to guess what "language" the code is written in, then they drive off, miles and miles, to get cheeseburgers. Cut to commercial break, and when they return to the code clue, suddenly they know how to use the decipher.

A miracle cure! You're stupid? Just eat a cheeseburger, and presto, suddenly you're smart.

PS i just found this board about half an hour ago and haven't finished reading this thread, so if I'm echoing similar suspicions already voiced here, just ignore this post! LOL

You could be right. LOL I didn't think of that. If true, then Big Hanlon's bragging about going to eat makes him look even dumber. To top it off, he tells the Browns they don't deserve to be there. Eleven hours in a cave, I can't fathom they didn't give them a clue. The cameraman's union probably made a call.

As reality TV suspicions are concerned, I'd call this proof. But Young Hanlon may have figured it out during the drive.

LAST EDITED ON 07-09-06 AT 01:06 PM (EST)

It don't think the show gives away the needed clue to the racers, but like TAR I get the impression that it is the camera-man's job to point his camera at mistakes the players are making for the editting desk later.

It was bad enough that the older couple kept missing the clue box on the bridge, but they also kept doing so for half-a-hour(right time?) with the camera-man repeatly pointing his camera at the clue box!

After 11 hours even the Harlons should clue in that the camera-man sure takes alot of shots of the bucket and the clue together. I doubt very much that when they poured the water in that they knew anything about refraction, just that bucket are for carrying and pouring water.
