"Celebrity Rehab?? - Can't Wait!"

Looks painfully awesome! Kind of like "Intervention" but with people you've heard of. I hope they all do well. That's the best part is to see someone pull their life together.

On the other hand, I can't think of anything more desperately egomaniacal than going through this on TV. But look at the "celebs" and it's obvious: China Doll, Brigitte Nielsen, Jeff Conaway?

What do you think?

I haven't heard much about this one, but sounds like it could be good. What time/station will it be on ?

Brigitte Nielsen was just on Chelsea Lately (a great show in and of itself!), and she seems to be doing great. She also quit smoking, but gained 30 pounds. She still looked good, and is actually starting to look like her 44 years (not 60). She did refer to foofy-foofy (Flav) and alluded to their hot sex life, but that her husband, who is 15 years younger, is much hotter.

Okay, I forgot it was on last night but still managed to come across it. Really scary stuff. Jeff Conaway is totally messed up--way worse than you even thought you knew.

There was a porn woman who really scared me. Kept trying to get with some tattooed dude that I didn't recognize. She had like 8 dildos in her suitcase that they took away from her. Not sure why exactly, except that she claimed she was trying to get out of porn, so I guess they were trying to help with another (seemingly) addiction.

Brigette had the best answers and reasons for being there. Really seemed to be there for the right reasons. I missed a lot of it, but I can see why she's doing well now.

I understand Jessica Sierra has already relapsed and troubles with the law.

Next week is "detox" week. Looks really bad. If you like "Trauma in the ER", you'll like the show next week.

How sad and disturbing it is to see people allow themselves to get so wrapped up and ruined by something as stupid and dangerous as drugs. For someone to get so loaded that they can't talk much less walk is horrible. What's even worse about this whole situation is that there will be people who walk out or are kicked off. These are people who have more ability to get the help on their own (financially) and good help at and to see them throw away such a service that is free is disgusting.

I made my 16 yr old son come watch the parts with Jeff Conaway - at the next commercial break, I told him *THAT* is why you shouldn't do drugs. It is so sad to see him. I just know that we'll be hearing about his death soon, if he doesn't get clean.

I watch this over the weekend. AMAZING. I honestly though could not make it thru the entire show. It was very depressing. Do I want to watch something that makes me laugh or something amazingly depressing. I was amazed that the show that singer smoke crack cocaine on the show. They showed other snort. It was unbelievable. Also about Jeff Conaway, honestly I have never seen anyone that bad from drugs, makes Keith Richards and Ozzy look sober. Too bad because I enjoyed Jeff on taxi. Why these people would do this show is beyond me.

Fame addiction?

Anything to get your face on TV. Given that several of them have done reality TV before I'd say for some the any exposure is better than no exposure.

I would think for a few the "everyone knows I was in rehab" might help motivate them to maintain it. Obviously it didn't for some of them, but it might add enough incentive for some people to stay clean afterwards.

I wondered about Jeff's girlfriend, too. I was glad to see Dr. Drew stop her at the door. She appears to be a part of his problem - an addict as well - or at the very least a hanger-on.

Sad, just sad.

There is the we are both addicts and I can't let him get clean because then my supply stops.

There can also be a need to control the other person and I've seen people do that with the other person's addiction. If they were to get clean they might not need you and they might be able to see what is going on and get out of the situation. So you have to keep them addicted to maintain the status quo.

The can't see him every day scene was weird. I couldn't quite read if she is dependent on him to get her fix, or if she can't handle him being out from under her control. Or both.

Boy did you have her pegged right on, Snidge.
I just watched last nights episode, and she had Jeff so twisted up and down, there is no way she is letting him get sober without a fight. Oh and you can watch her manipulate him, and try to manipulate others, you can see her thinking and plotting as she speaks. She's gonna kill him.

I am so hooked on this show. ( get it? hooked? pun? Ha Ha!)

I thought it was going to be disgusting, but watched because of Dr. Drew,( always liked him) and I am glad I did.
It's done is such a way that you don't feel scummy watching it. Dr Drew really keeps it about treatment, and educating the audience, and even though there are cameras there, he is their Doctor, he is trying to help them recover and not mocking them or the process.

The one who has surprised me the most so far, is Brigette.
I was never much of a fan, thought she was a bit of a freak, but I wanted to hug her when she talked about her kids, and she has taken on the role of "Den Mother" to the others. She's been great to watch, and I so want her to be well and whole.

I can't believe how addicting this show is!

I think they are doing a good job of showing what it is really like without exploiting them.

I do think Dr. Drew and the people there really do care.

One of the families in the neighborhood I grew up in had a couple like that. He was controlling, she was an alcoholic and he used her addiction to control her. It is really sad when it happens, but I know sometimes the enabler is doing it not just to make the addict "happy", but also to control them.

Yeah, I got sucked into this show, I admit it.

What gets me is how clinically accurate it is sometimes. Not just salacious carp. Interesting. Love the staff.

Brigitte channeling Jessica's mom was intense. I hope that Brigitte can heal, and not just be the emotional door mat for everyone.

Jeff - what can one say about Jeff Conway? I am really, really over him. Good Luck with whatever it is you're trying to do, Jeff, and get the he!! out of the way.

I think Joanne and Brigitte are enablers for each other. (For exhaustive detail, see their Surreal Life season.) They don't feed off each other's addictions so much as they encourage them: a mutual drunk is just so much more fun. Because they get along so well, they could reinforce the experience and get extra help in finishing rehab -- but they could also each drag the other down to drown.

This is a very intense show...painful to watch, but really very interesting. I am quite impressed with Dr. Drew. He seems to be the real deal, unlike that charlatan, Dr. Phil. I also enjoy the no nonsense manner of both the drug counselor (male) and the female assistant, who also gets lots of air time.

Jeff Conway is just disgusting. I am impressed that Dr. Drew and the staff have any patience for this loser. Going to rehab is not a cure all (Britany Spears/Lindsey Lohan) the failure rate is quite high, and the media does not take the time to report how big stars check into rehab places like Promises, and fail to question whether that rehab really works.

Many of the folks in this show have gone to rehab multiple times, and have failed multiple times. I do believe that some of these folks will succeed, but to hard to tell right now who it will be.

Excellent show. I've been pleasantly surprised by it.

BTW, Dr. Drew is my new man-crush and the guy I most hope to look and act like when I am his age. He is cooler than cool.

So Daniel Baldwin checks out of rehab, claiming that the atmosphere is not conducive to him staying clean and sober. Makes a big to-do about guests swimming in the pool in t-shirts and no bras, and his pregnant wife being upset by this.

But previews for the next episode show him calling the rehab place, and one of the girls telling Bridgitte that Daniel had asked her to send him some pics to his cell phone, then asking her to delete all pics he had sent her. I guess the implication is he asked one of the girls to take sexy or revealing pics of herself and send them to him. Is he a sex addict as well, or just your general run-of-the-mill pervy addict?

Until last night I thought Daniel was just a pain in the azz diva, but now I think he’s a dog too! The way he was acting on the show, I wouldn’t be surprised if he had smuggled some drugs in with him. I don’t believe for one second that he was completely sober for nine months.
Did anyone catch how he was lying when he told the group how the argument with his wife went down when he was on the phone with her? He told the group she overheard someone calling him and then asked what was going on but in reality he called her and offered the information about the pool party. He was obviously looking for any reason to get out of there so he could get some drugs. What a jerk! It’s not as if I think Mary was a totally innocent bystander, but at least she was honest about what went down and owned it.
I think it was a good lesson to the others that addicts often lie and are untrustworthy, and hopefully that shows them that they don’t want to be that way.

I really like this show so far. Jeff is growing on me and I’m really pulling for him. I really, really hope he ditches his user girlfriend by the time this show is over! I also like Brigitte. She can be controversial but especially when she’s sober I think she’s pretty cool and seems like a good person. I think it's an overall interesting group of people and I also like Dr. Drew!

I can believe he was dry for the last nine months.

Not using is different from sober. He's whole "I already have this under control" act makes me think he might have been doing the "dry drunk" thing where people can control the using for awhile, but don't really do the work it takes to get sober and stay that way. Unfortunately you can only hold on and not use for so long and the sex stuff could have been an attempt to control the other addictions with a different one, or just a way to set himself up so he could feel OK about falling off the wagon.

Dry drunks tend to still have a lot of the behaviors of an addict even if they aren't using and Baldwin kinda seemed like that to me.

I tend to agree with those that commented they believe Daniel was a dry drunk, and not really dealing with the issues of addiction. In one way, I was very offended by him encouraging Mary to send him some inappropriate pictures. On the other hand, as another member of the group pointed out, Mary is not 18, she is 27 years old and part of her getting straight obviously needs to address the side of her that doesn't have sexual boundaries clearly in place. I like Mary and I feel for her, but it's past time for her to learn how to deal with men who will view her solely as a sex object. So in a way, this was a good experience, if she learns something from it and it helps her grow stronger when it next occurs.

Daniel's in denial, and I wish him well. Hopefully he'll get back into treatment and have success in getting straight and staying that way.

I am so rooting for Jeff Conway to make it. I know the chances are slim, but I feel he is really trying. However, he must, no doubt about it kick that pasty-faced, sobriety saboteur skank to the curb! How dare she come for a visit with a spiked drink? Who in the hell does that? At this point, I think she should be banned from visiting. Not only did she put Jeff's sobriety at stake, she put everyone in the rehab group at risk too, simply by having it there.

I couldn't help but smile at the bed snuggling thing that started with Brigette and (I think) China, then added Jeff, then all the others jumping in too.

My last thought -- who is the black girl? And why doesn't she ever talk? I have seen at least four episodes, and she walks around with a blanket as a shawl all the time, but I have no idea what her story is. She seems very sad.

i agree....about mary....she needs to learn how she is going to act outside rehab when this happens again.

as for the young black girl she played the sis in family matters and supposedly when they let her go(not popular character) she went into drugs and did some porn too.
something about her family i remember too.

i was really rooting for jeff last night and i wanted someone to come in and haul his girlfriend away. it was great to see him dance around...

i can kinda tell dr. drew has a crush on jessica sierra... makes sense now knowing how he supposedly "took guardianship" of her after the show...when she got pregnant and still did drugs....

It was pretty obvious who had benefitted the most from the show. Brigette made the most progress. Mary is still struggling, and it wouldn't surprise me if she crashed. Seth, Jeff, and Rico will likely always be right on the edge.

It was sad to see the difference in Jessica. Hopefully, she can pull it together.

Dr. Drew is THE MAN! I want to be him when I grow up.

I love Brigitte....what a big strong beautiful woman she is.
Don't even get me started on Dr. Drew...I've been salivating over him since LoveLine...yummy!

I heard Jeff is reading about Scientology, thanks to John Travolta. Typically I would find this disturbing, but at this point I say WHATEVER WORKS!! Whoever said they made their teenager watch him, I say good job! If that isn't a true testimant (sp?) to 'just say no', I don't know what is!

I know Danielle is an addict, but he creeps me out...I do hope everyone else does well though. I know Jess is in for a year, so hopefully this will be the 'fix'...

As much pain as it is to watch...I do hope there's a season two...

I really, really hate to say this, but I thought the first season was unexpectedly interesting. I hope that they do a follow-up again, now that more time has passed. I guess that if the timing would have been right, they could have put in that guy from The Real World who ended up at the Pasadena clinic for 30 days also. In fact, they could probably do a whole season just from Real World people.

*sigh*

This is the show you don't want to see people resurface on. I wish Nikki wasn't here: I only know her from her post-AI appearances, but I liked her there, and to find out she's fallen this far... ow.

Tawny needs to be here: SL6 proved that. Conaway might spend the rest of his life here. Rodney King... well, he was the subject of ten minutes during drive-time yesterday, mostly asking if he qualified to be a celebrity. (At a guess, he wound up addicted to pain meds.) Everyone knows his name, so -- yes.
