"Long, strong, hard, and loud."

Hey! Did you know there's only one girl-girl team on the course this year! I said, there's only one! And they're both girls! Which is what I just said! Now I'm going to say it again so I can claim I twinned it! That's right, I said twinned! And I said about a girl-girl team! And now I'm going to repeat myself, only at double the volume!

Just in case you missed it.

I'm sure it's a lovely accent when spoken by a normal human voice.

We're overdue for a non-elimination leg, so you'll be hearing those voices for at least two more episodes.

I think we'll be hearing them for at least three episodes -- I'm not sure they'll be gone by the end of the next elimination leg. But I don't mind Natalia and Nadiya too much -- I'm very enthusiastic and have a loud voice when I get excited. But I can see why they would be annoying.

Quoting Wikipedia here: "In this form it has taken on racial connotations so has acquired the status of a slur, though it is not inherently pejorative."

The Cantonese equivalent is guilo, a term I heard many times during my travels to Hong Kong. Although my colleagues insisted it wasn't an insult, there was certainly a negative connotation to it.

*nods* White ghosts, that's a favorite... I suspect our twinnies are just a wee bit racist, especially given how quick they were to make the term into an us vs. them motivation -- immediately followed by covering up at Mach 3. It's not just the word, it's the context and motivation. Theirs was slightly suspect.

As noted once, I get my very own fun descriptors. I will print none of them.

They do seem to have an "us vs them" mentality, don't they? I know we didn't see the whole exchange, but they both got really defensive at the road block. One was asked, "Have you ever done this before" and was very defensive about how just because she had grown up in Sri Lanka didn't mean she had to do all of that stuff, even though the question was about building teepees in general. A couple of the guys had done it before. And the guy was just doing some friendly teasing, and she was completely insulted. At least that's the way it looked from the editing, maybe no one else saw it that way.

It's a bizarre kind of us vs them, too. On one hand, they get defensive. OTOH, they say they're like "family" whenever they interact with another brown person.

Thanks to tribephyl for the sigpic!

Ask Yunel Escobar about the local connotations in Spanish versus the general population's connotations.

What's lost is lost.

What's found is found.

What's edited as a villain team...

I hope they returned the money to James & Abba, either at the Pit Stop or when they saw them on the plane. That said, James & Abba were dumb enough to be careless with their belongings and almost paid the price.

We knew it was a legal move when Phil didn't penalize or eliminate them at the mat, but it still wasn't the classiest of plays. (I do wonder about the legality if the camera had captured the cash falling out of the backpack. That little 0.0001% of 'Maybe it belonged to a non-Racer' which still existed at the time might be all that saved them.) No argument on Rock & Gavel needing to take more care with their things, though.

I do wonder if James & Abba ever found out what happened -- prior to last night, anyway. And I think the twinnies are begging for a U-Turn...

Although I don't have a raging hatred of Natalie & Nadiya and "all's fair in love & war", as the saying goes, I agree that it wasn't the classiest of moves and won't exactly win them any more friends.

Have these girls not seen the show before? Each season is a little different but one thing all seasons have in common is Karma. It's always there and it will come back to bite them in the backside. Mark my words folks, the twins and the Texans are not going to win this season and the rockers probably will.
(not a spoiler, just simple speculation, I have no inside info on who wins and who doesn't)
