What did he apologize for?

Most of the hub-bub was about the B-52 monument thing. So I think that was most of it, I don't think they gave details in the apology, just we didn't mean to upset the veterans and we support them.

Fly to Botswana. Sign up for one of three flights to the edge of the Kalahari Desert.

So what will happen to our "it's in Kenya" peeps.

If it isn't in Kenya it must be on another continent!

And now a brief pause while Chuck and Wynonna attempt to name every nation on the planet.

Hockey boys don't like the widdle bitty plane.

ELEPHANTS!!!

Joey also scared of flight.

Lion King made here. Those fine African animators, you know.

Clues in a bowl.

Drive down the road to the next clue and chase the goats away from the cars.

Second flight and the goats are back.

Clues in Jars.

"Roadblock with the Bushman"
Posted by Snidget on 03-24-13 at 09:06 PM
Scorpion hunting.

Scorpion in a jar needed to get the next clue.

Now with Scorpion hypnotism by giving it a tongue bath. No a literal tongue bath, in your mouth.

Trying to figure out how that works. Something with a stinger wouldn't be set up to freeze if it thought it was going to be eaten, and heat on that level shouldn't bother the insect locals. Humidity reaction to the moisture in the breath?

Mr. Karchita and I were thinking it had to be the moisture, too.

What was with all these morons thinking a scorpion would kill them?

Well I think the default for any poisonous thing you don't know is that it is always fatal.

When you get to know it, you realize most of them aren't always lethal (although even the least lethal do tend to have killed someone either with enough stings, weak enough or small enough person or an individual's particularly bad reaction to that particular venom).

Not sure about the species in that area, but there are some that could have taken you out of the race. I assume since they were letting reality TV people handle them that those ones were one of the rarely dangerous kinds rather than the most likely need to go to the hospital variety.

Yeah, the scorpions that were being caught were probably not likely to send you to the hospital. But if I'd done that Roadblock, I would have had some anxious moments before most likely being reassured by my cameraman that the scorpions weren't usually dangerous.

*Raises hand. I'm a moron*

Seriously though, I've never lived in a climate where there are scorpions so I have little experience with them. However, I would've assumed that they weren't fatal. TAR wouldn't take the risk, lol, but I would've been scared (well up until I saw the bushman put it in his mouth!)

Ooops! Me and my big mouth!

I guess not knowing something doesn't make one a moron. But you are right, it wouldn't take much to think through what a tv show is asking you to do - be scared or die. And scorpions stings really, really hurt, so I wouldn't be eager to hold one, that's for sure.

I owe Jims so much money!! These players aren't fans of Survivor because most teams wasted time trying to make fire.

"RE: TAR 22 - Episode 6 - East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by Belle Book on 03-25-13 at 01:50 PM
Or at least they haven't watched any Survivor! I assume Pam & Winnie had since they mentioned that they watched enough TV to know that making fire from scratch isn't easy! Hey, I'm not a major fan of Survivor, and yet I know enough that if I'd been faced with that Detour, I'd have chosen Fowl!

On the other hand, if they ever hit a Roadblock clue reading 'Flap your hands until you achieve a hovering altitude of three feet', Joey's got to do it.

"Detour"
Posted by Snidget on 03-24-13 at 09:19 PM
Fire, make fire with two sticks, zebra manure and grass.

Fowl, make a guinea fowl trap.

Still away and won't be home for another hour or so, but I look forward to watching the episode later tonight - especially to see N!xau, the bushman from 'The Gods Must Be Crazy' as I see him in one of the taxis with a team!

Now the whole "these are real bushman not actors" comment they played makes more sense.

"Finish Order"
Posted by Snidget on 03-24-13 at 09:31 PM
1. Hockey Boys, going to Thailand.

Asian Girls only ones that watch TV and know it ain't that easy.

Chuck and Wynonna go for the trapping, he's done this before, big shock that is.

We have teams switching to the Snare Detour.

"RE: Finish Order"
Posted by Snidget on 03-24-13 at 09:42 PM
2. Pam and Winnie

Max and Katie last to switch from fire making to snare making.

3. Chuck and Wynonna
4. Joey and Meghan
5. Caroline and Jennifer

Mona and Beth decide to get the car and drive when the clue says ON FOOT. Oh finally on foot

6. Mona and Beth,
7. Max and Katie, you are the last team to arrive. Good news, non elimination leg. You will have a Speed Bump in the next leg.

Chuck and Wynonna up a creek.

It all comes down to Donkeys.

Two things

1) We have never seen a team fly to the wrong country, does uncle cameraman lend a suggestion if needed?

2) What exactly do they do with the scorpions once they have caught them? Eat them? Use the venom? What?

The Bushmen are known for the poisons they use in hunting.

They put them in a bottle and keep them as pets. But first you have to punch holes in the lid.

I noticed that too. I wondered if they were going to be released after filming was done.
