I think it might sound like a cover band, even though the only difference is the lead singer, because Axl Rose was a major part of that band's sound. Because Michael Hutchence was such a major part of INXS' sound, that's what I think a new singer with INXS will face. So, maybe their best choice is to go with a female, to go in as new a direction as possible. Or a guy like Ty, who sounds substantially different than Hutchence.
I still think they should have BOTH JORDIS AND TY doing lead singer duty. As I said elsewhere, remember Jefferson Airplane/Starship had both Grace and Marty doing lead vocals.
It could be enough of a change for the band to really work!
Who's with me?
RIP, MICHAEL, YOU CAN'T BE REPLACED.
