I think much of their Hee Haw schtick is just an act. The dumb hick act is a way to get other teams to underestimate them.

Mark/Bopper and Brenchel finish the Oil detour before the "schoolteachers" find their apple but they do before the commercial. That leave Vanessa and Ralph looking for the apple and the Guidos looking for the detour location. Unfortunately, they also chose apple so can't really make up ground unless they are reaaly lucky.

Was it a trick of the lighting, my eyes, or did I miss something. At the finish line it looked like she (blonde Rachel?) had blood under her nose.

I didn't notice any blood but maybe I was distracted by the 1982 Solid Gold dancer outfit (complete with sequined headband) the other Rachel was wearing this entire leg.

I call B.S. on this task... some cars were full of green apples, which made it much easier to spot the red and yellow TAR colours, while other cars had red apples, making it tougher to see the ribbon colours. They should have had all of the apples the same colours.

Maybe a smart team would have figured that out.

Yeah but it could severely handicap a team arriving last and have no choice. Just think it should be a level playing field.

You're too young. "Cheese and crackers" was the childhood approved phrase to be used in place of Jesus Christ. Some more conservative groups believed that because it was a known euphemism it still constituted blasphemy. When I was a kid it either was, or wasn't, considered blasphemous depending upon who heard you say it. Think of it as a sort of Cockney rhyming slang.

those looking for the apple didn't seem to know that the flag on it would be obviously visible; looked like they were inspecting each apple carefully. Wonder if there should have been a "sample" apple so they'd know what they were looking for.
