Is this the first sign Canada was wiped off the map, none of them started this thread, or only because we were on time in the USA???

"Rachel Repellant technique"

OK, I want Vanessa to win just because with only a few words she can make Brachel quit a detour and leave to do the other one.

Unfortunately they can't stack watermelons as well as they can upset Rachel.

Karma's a nasty-azz biatch, huh Vanessa?

I'm glad they did as poorly as they did. Her attacks on Rachel were both ugly and unnecessary. What did she ever do to you personally, and why waste the race energy even if she did do something. They deserved the poor showing.

Roadblock carry water bottles on head, if you break all the bottles you get to sit at the pitstop for two hours.

Darn Rachel's really good at stringing harps and they made up a boat load of time.

That's because Rachel's apparently really good at stringing people along.

Random observation: Paraguayian harp music is much prettier than classical harp.

I thought it was because she's a harpy.

Thanks for starting this Snidget.

Unfortunately, the Border Patrol already came in first for this leg. I am not a fan of theirs. Must say, when they finished and there was still a half-hour to go I was expecting a continuation leg.

Ditto. I saw them arrive at the pit stop and said, "it's still only 8:28?!?" When there was no continuation, then I brought out the popcorn as I know it's going to be a train-wreck of a finish for the rest of the show.

That did seem really weird.

The double-ontime threw me.

Something that stood out: when the Border Patrol said there was no reason they shouldn't finish first, the camera went to their taxi driver's hands.

Aroo? I didn't notice that, so what's the meaning there?

I'm guessing a bad driver will be the factor which ultimately takes them out.

Caught that too but it doesn't seem it have meant anything. But Art & JJ have moved down my lvoe list after tonight.

I noticed that three. Definitely got to be foreshadowing. I was expecting something to happen this leg and when it didn't, I filed it away for some future time. Karma is a ##### in TAR!

I do not like Rachel from Big Brother. Her whining is grating and she looks like a maniac when she's smiling. Brendan is a better person than I am. I think I would have either smacked her or walked off and left her by now.

Oh yeah. Now we're talking good tv.

Nice to see you, dearie.

Will either team make it through the roadblock after the exhausting detour.

I tried balancing an empty wine bottle during the commercial break. I'd be screwed. I couldn't balance it well enough to even lower my arms. I'd blame the fact that it's an empty wine bottle, except I haven't been drinking wine.

There's only two options here. One is an NEL. The other is annoying. I didn't like the show doing it when I first saw it and now I like it even less. All drama has just been knocked out. Excepting Brenchel.

For some reason I was thinking NEL from the start of the show

But we knew Vanessa & Ralph weren't out because we haven't had the confrontation scene yet. So it took an option off the board.

Phil said that Rachel/Dave were "the first team to take a penalty and not be eliminated".

I guess Rob and Amber weren't big enough DAWs for you to remember, Phil. They took a four-hour penalty for not eating all that meat and survived because another team after them also took the penalty.

"RE: TAR 20 - Episode 3 - East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by Snidget on 03-04-12 at 09:57 PM
*nods* and they didn't know for sure no other team would screw it up.

Although that was a quit rather than a penalty for not doing it with a limited amount of resources, but there haven't been many of those, have there?

"RE: TAR 20 - Episode 3 - East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by michel on 03-04-12 at 09:58 PM
I saw that too and figured Phil is now just as bad as Jiffy.

If i remember correctly, two other teams besides Romber took the penalty and all three survived because someone took longer to eat the meat.

"No..."
Posted by Estee on 03-04-12 at 10:04 PM
..he said they were the first team to not complete any tasks and not be eliminated. And he was right. They failed one branch of the Detour, Express Passed their way out of the second, and then wound up taking the two-hour penalty at the Roadblock.

What's with the express pass? I thought that it meant they could avoid all tasks and go directly to the pit stop. Those last few seconds of penalty cost me 24 points un the casino.

"RE: TAR 20 - Episode 3 - East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by mysticwolf on 03-04-12 at 09:58 PM
I thought that was what the express pass meant, too. I think that's what it used to mean--skip everything and go straight to the end. When did it change (or am I dreaming)?

"RE: TAR 20 - Episode 3 - East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by Snidget on 03-04-12 at 10:01 PM
I think it is a skip ONE task, rather than all tasks.

So not as good as a fast forward where it is skip all tasks, but I could be mistaken.

"RE: TAR 20 - Episode 3 - East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by michel on 03-04-12 at 10:05 PM
Well, according to wiki, the pass allows you to skip one task so I guess it was always like this.

Wonder if it was.

Last team to arrive and it is not an NEL. Can't have been that far off as the other team was still on the mat.

Shoot - I liked the twins. Sad I still have to watch Bopper.

Vanessa looked over her shoulder when she was talking to Phil so I think the twins were pretty close behind.

Somebody drown her. Please? Was she this much of a cry baby on BB, too? Did they let her win just to shut her up?

I asked a similar question last week about Rachel. This is what I got:

Yes, Rachel Cries A Lot. A LOT. And Much More.

You also got a glimpse of her competitive side, which is the other one with no social skills: she just about took an excessive celebration penalty at the Roadblock and then had a mental breakdown and near physical rupture trying to make up for it. Give her credit for blowing through the task: what happened afterwards, not so much.

Going into The Psychology Of Rachel is a deep dark trip, but I personally have her as a former nerd who made over the outside without touching the inner self. Her BB win came through the usual series of twists, being good at challenges, an exceptionally stupid casting move at the start, and the jury not listening to the awkward recycling speeches coming out of her mouth. There's no jury vote to worry about here -- but her fragile emotional state can still work against her. It's been repeatedly noted that she's a stronger player (and person) on her own: that's not going to happen in this game.

I tried to spend some time defending her once. It got tiring fast.

Rachel goes into her 748th meltdown on TV. Some interesting-looking stuff with flying something with a remote control. Rachel goes into her 749th meltdown on TV.
