"Stevie Wonder Week - Wishlist"

Posted by geekboy on 03-10-06 at 01:24 PM
I have a couple songs in mind for some of the top 12. Keep this wishlist going over the next week.

Taylor - "I Wish"
Chris - "Living For The City" he could crank up the rock groove on this one
Elliot - "I Was Made To Love Her"

These three seem like obvious choices. I have no feelings on this theme for a ladies.

Elliott: "Knocks Me Off My Feet"
Ace: "Rocket Love"
Taylor: "Signed, Sealed, Delivered"
Chris: "Uptight"
Kevin: "My Cheri Amour"
Bucky: "I Was Made To Love Her"

The girls a little bit harder to choose...

I'm actually rooting for Paris but the girls are kind of okay this season. I think Kellie is cool and I like Mandisa but I really think a guy will win this year.

The only girl that i'm excited for each week is Mandisa simply because she's the best girl singer, and you never know what the heck she's going to pick. Katherine is a good singer, but she tends to play it safe, at least so far. Mandisa is a risk taker and that is what you need on AI.

Other than her, the girls don't excite me one bit. I agree, the time is right for a guy to win.

Taylor Hicks, your next American Idol! Soul Patrol! Whoooo!!!!

LAST EDITED ON 03-10-06 AT 05:21 PM (EST)

Here is a list from itunes of some of Stevie Wonder's better known songs--I took the ones from the top of the list:

If you really loved me
Signed sealed delivered I am yours
Overjoyed
Superstition
For once in my life
Part time lover
I just called to say I love you
Living for the city
Ribbon in the Sky
Lately
A place in the sun
Uptight
Yester-me yester-you
Happy Birthday
We can work it out
Send your love
All I do

I totally forgot about the song "Yester-Me, Yester-You, Yesterday". That is an amazing song, has an incredible medley. That would work well for Elliot's voice, and possibly even Kevin's. I'd love to hear someone try that song.

Didn't he do a version of "Seasons of Love" as the bonus track on the Rent OBC soundtrack? I wonder if they're allowed to do that...

Stevie Wonder is my all-time favorite musician/artist and I have a pretty good idea of what I'd like to hear from each of the top 12:

Chris: Higher Ground or Signed Sealed Delivered I'm Yours
Elliot: My Cherie Amour or Overjoyed (If You Really Love Me is a great choice for him, but he's already done it)
Taylor: Superstition or I Wish
Bucky: Living for the City (I think this week will be hardest for him)
Kevin: Stay Gold
Ace: My Cherie Amour or Lately

Paris: If You Really Love Me (I doubt she'd do it since Elliot did it in week one of the top 24) or Sir Duke
Mandisa : Never Dreamed You'd Leave in Summer (she'd be fantastic on this song)
Kellie: Never Had a Dream Come True or Blowin' in the Wind
Katherine: Maybe Your Baby or Until You Come Back to Me
Melissa: You Met Your Match
Lisa: Ribbon in the Sky

I just hope some of them really think about what songs are best suited for them, not just the songs that are more popular/well-known.
