"TAR 18 Ep10 ECST"

When we last left the racers, they were in Switzerland by way of driving through Lichtenstein for the Roadblock... in which a costly Cowboy mistake put them enough behind that they got victimized by the Double U-Turn and had to endure both halves of the Helltour Detour: both the luggage delivery and the fondue eating... and were thus eliminated...

5 teams remain, who'll be eliminated tonight and will only appear next week as a 'happy' clapping team when the Race concludes?

"Departure times"
Posted by vince3 on 05-01-11 at 08:08 PM
Zev/Justin: 6:54am

They're heading to the Rescue station, where they'll sign up for Helicopter flights in 5 minute intervals... first one out at approximately 9:15

Sista Act: 7:02am... You have $1 for this leg of the Race... I think they're on the 9:20am-ish flight...

Goths: 8:00am... now with Extra Glitter!

Gary/Mallory: 8:18am and the Goths missed a Taxi opportunity, but Gary/Mallory passed them up by getting one earlier!

Trotters: 8:43am

It sounds like the Trotters might only have that $1 for their Race money... or not... as Kent fumes about no Taxi...until he finally gets one.

Kent whined about his hood and Vyxsin had to come back to put it up for him.

Search or Rescue

Search: Use an avalanche beacon to locate and then dig out a Rescue Dummy

Rescue: Actually 'Rescue' a stranded mountaineer using a pulley/rappel device...

Zev/Justin chose search, Sista Act chose Rescue

Gary/Mallory choose Search

Goths choose Rescue

Trotters choose Rescue

They got guts to set up that kind of task for the TAR racers. I've been high up in the Alps and know the weather can turn nasty in a rather big hurry, or at least the winds can come out of nowhere.

I hope the producers have a really good insurance package.

I was thinking the same thing but also: I hope they didn't expect to have 5 resecuers and that 2 guys weren't waiting for teams that didn't show up!

And I don't think it is a rescue if you cut the guy in half!!

Oopsie. Vyxsin kept going after Kent started to call for her to stop so he could rescue his guy... I guess she's too used to tuning him out...

I thought maybe she finally saw an oppoprtuity to rid herself on him once & for all.

Gary/Mallory find their dummy first, but he split apart... whoops.

Sista Act got the clue first. Next stop, Le Petit Cervin...

Goths get their clue second...

Zev/Justin's dummy is STILL buried...

Gary is still trying to unearth his dummy's legs...

Trotters get their clue third...

Rescue's all done, Search is still working on it...

Gary/Mallory is finally done...

Zev/Justin will appear to be the only team to not get on the train... as they struggle to dig out their dummy as the winds pick up... They're in deep trouble...

That is really annoying Kent

"Roadblock"
Posted by vince3 on 05-01-11 at 08:37 PM
Zev/Justin apparently dug under their dummy's legs, which made it even more difficult... and then Zev/Justin do the opposite of Gary: they removed the legs out of the hole first...

Who wants to make a new friend?

Create a Travelosity Roaming Gnome, using exacting Swiss methods...

Once it's complete, they exchange the chocolate one for a real one... and their next clue... Looks like those that aren't making the chocolate have the opportunity to eat some chocolate...

They're doing a portion, then putting it in the freezer (which Kent calls the oven) letting it dry/cool as they do the other part of the mold...

Kent's constant talking rattled Vyxsin...

and now we have confusion on which mold is which...

Globetrotters accuse Vyxsin of stealing their mold, and the Trotters are apparently forced to re-do a mold now... and they're hating it...

Herb and Nate are jerks. Their mocking of Kent & Vyxsin really made me mad.

"RE: Roadblock"
Posted by jbug on 05-01-11 at 09:19 PM
but then Kent was mocking Big Easy right behind his back -
did that make you mad too?

I figured when BE was doing that that all the teams had seen Kent was the whiney brat that he made him self out to be.

"RE: Roadblock"
Posted by kidflash212 on 05-01-11 at 09:29 PM
No - to me the mocking seemed really mean-spirited. The lisping crossed the line into homophobia.

"RE: TAR 18 Ep10 ECST"
Posted by vince3 on 05-01-11 at 08:50 PM
Flight Time is the first one to get his gnome filled up with chocolate... and now they have to wait while it cools down... in the snow!

Sista Act is 2nd to the snow, then the Goths, then Mallory, and finally Zev...

The four teams that have unmolded now have to put on finishing touches... and it's Vyxsin who's out first!

Now make way on foot to a Swiss Cabin about 300 feet away! and the Goths are calling a Taxi? (ruh-roh)

Trotters also were gonna call a taxi but at least one of them read the 'on foot' part...

Looks like Gary/Mallory and Sista Act (or at least one of each team...) read the clue properly... and we see the 'on foot' part highlighted as we see the full clue as the Goths catch their cab that they're not supposed to catch...

"RE: TAR 18 Ep10 ECST"
Posted by PepeLePew13 on 05-01-11 at 08:50 PM
Kent and Vyxsin just got into a cab ... the clue clearly states "make your way on foot to the pit stop".

"RE: TAR 18 Ep10 ECST"
Posted by PepeLePew13 on 05-01-11 at 08:52 PM
Team number one is Flight Time and Big Easy! Flight Time just about gets knocked over by a Saint Bernard upon arriving at the pit stop...

Taxi penalty - how often do teams get caught with that

"Finish Order"
Posted by vince3 on 05-01-11 at 08:55 PM
Trotters finish first, worst to first again! Win a trip to the Cook Islands (but they get a hotel stay with a dinner and show... not a Survivor stay...)

Sista Act finish second.

Goths finally show up at the Finish Mat third... but they're penalized a 30 minute penalty! and they realize their mistake after it's pointed out... and they're talking about it as the clock ticks on them...

Gary/Mallory finish third...

Zev/Justin are wandering around and we don't know how much time's left on the Goths as they continue to argue about it...

Zev/Justin arrive at the mat last, but because of the penalty, they finish in fourth!

Goths officially finish last, and are eliminated...

"RE: Finish Order"
Posted by PepeLePew13 on 05-01-11 at 08:57 PM
Good riddance. With all their blaming-each-other and constant harping over the clue, they couldn't leave the game any sooner.

Now, let's hope that Flight Time and Big Easy are next!

You probably didn't fall too far because most had Gary/Mallory and Zev/Justing as their picks. I had them but at least I stayed put by having 2 bonus answers.

I bet CTGirl will be #1 because she was out of town and didn't put down a bet.

"happy dance"
Posted by jbug on 05-01-11 at 09:12 PM
I think I was saying "yes, get in that taxi, ride a taxi" out loud!
Then I was getting upset that they got only a 30 min penalty; I wanted them to have to go back and make their way 'on foot'.
I would've been po'd if the 30 min had not been enough time for Zev & justin to get to the PS.

"RE: happy dance"
Posted by michel on 05-01-11 at 09:18 PM
I was saying the exact same thing. I never liked Kant but this time he was just awful. He's certainly not the positive one, whining all along but then vixen had to go dummy on us and say he's a great partner: You deserve him if you excuse him that easily.

"RE: happy dance"
Posted by jbug on 05-01-11 at 09:23 PM

I was thinking that surely she'd dump his sorry a$$, but...
you're right, she does deserve him.

Well, my reception was spotty, only got to see bits and pieces tonight, and it went out entirely while Zev and Justin were still waiting on their gnome to finish cooling in the snow.

So...

1. I'm glad Kent and Vyxsin were eliminated, mainly because I've really gotten sick of Kent. But...

2. Whatever she said in support of Kent, is it really different than the support Justin gives Zev? I don't think Kent is worth it either, but it is hard to fault Vyxsin's dedication, that's what decent people are like. Shallow jerk that Kent it, at least he's not a screaming physically violent mentally abusive Jonathan.

Brazil, Florida Keys ... and a chest waxing as a roadblock! Yeesh.

Since when was inflicted pain tolerance a requisite as a Racer?

Wel...Racers have inflicted pain on us often enough that I say it is about time.

"RE: A waxing task?"

Wasn't there an episode, maybe in Japan, where they had to get really painful foot massages?

"RE: A waxing task?"
Posted by kidflash212 on 05-01-11 at 09:38 PM
There was a team that had to get permanent tatoos on a Fast Forward once.

"RE: A waxing task?"
Posted by Starshine on 05-02-11 at 03:45 AM
I would say that was different, because they had the choice to abandon the Fast Forward. If this is a task then it seems a little harsh.

Do you not remember the above mentioned foot massage. Contestants were crying and sweating and there might have been some screaming involved.

I think the difference is that it's pretty much equal with the foot massage task for both men and women. With a chest waxing... you might as well as wax a grizzly bear.

2 legs remain: Brazil and Florida Keys, and in Brazil, it looks like the Roadblock might involve one member getting Waxed! (Possibly Brazilian Waxed?)

"RE: Finale Forecast: PAIN!"

Seems like Kisha/Jen would have a big advantage in the waxing one - neither seems like they'd have any hair on their bodies.

It does seem like that task is unbalanced as Justin & Zev would take longer to wax than any other team.

Kent and Vyxsin found a well-worn way to lose this time. I wondered if there was some significance in them showing us Kent's crabbing about the taxi at the start -- and there most definitely was.

The trip to Rio looks like a joke compared to the tasks this time. Vyxsin implied that the chocolate molding task alone took three hours. I'm sure the teams could use a chance to sleep on the flight to Brazil.

Thank goodness I could watch online due to the pre-empting. Loved two of Justin and Zev's comments:
"The Matterhorn was named after the Disneyland ride."
"I think there's too many cooks in the kitchen."

"RE: Zev and Justin"

The crack about the Matterhorn was a true "ugly American" moment. How ignorant of the outside world are we?
