"TAR 18 Ep9 ECST"

When we last left the Racers, they had a Pit Stopp at Villa Trapp, the home of the Von Trapp family that was made famous by The Sound of Music (which, ironically, is traditionally played at least once during this time of year...)

We finally had a true NEL leg and Gary/Mallory will have to do a Speed Bump during this leg...

As for the start time: as of this posting, the golf tourney's in the 2nd hole of Sudden Death... and it might go to the 3rd hole of Sudden Death, depending on the next couple of shots...

Golf ended at 6:30 Eastern, but not without a lip-out that prevented going to a 4th Sudden Death hole...

I was rooting for them to keep going until 7:15. Looks like an on-time start tonight.

"Departure times"
Posted by vince3 on 04-24-11 at 08:08 PM
Zev/Justin 3:14am

Travel to Lichtenstein... DOUBLE U-TURN IS BACK AGAIN!

Trotters 3:25am
Goths 3:39am
Sista Act 3:49am
Cowboys 3:50am
Gary/Mallory 4:36am (man they're far behind... aren't they?)

Sista Act seems to have hooked up with the Trotters somewhat...

Gary/Mallory's enjoying the scenery on the train.

Several times.

This is going to cost a lot of time. Even at a max speed of 35 kph for some models of that bike I bet they are taking more like an hour each way, so and extra trip or two is going to set some teams back quite a bit.

But the bus-train combo served as a partial equalizer. Looking at the time needed to finish the fondue and the progress of the luggage teams, I'd guess the second train arrived about thirty minutes behind the first, with Rail & Noose trailing thirty minutes in back of that. Runners who get lucky with maps and hotel choices can make up ground -- but how much?

"Roadblock"
Posted by vince3 on 04-24-11 at 08:12 PM
Zev/Justin's taxi driver does some crazy passing to take the lead, while Gary/Mallory's is stuck using the GPS

Roadblock: Teams need to measure the entire length of Lichtenstein... (22km) Present it to Marco Buschel... If they're wrong, they have to go back to the start and try again... The Roadblock doer is on a Solex motorized bike with a odometer, map/GPS...

Speed Bump is also there for Gary/Mallory (who's already in DFL)

"Speed Bump"
Posted by vince3 on 04-24-11 at 08:14 PM
They have to mix their gas/fuel for their Solex for the Roadblock.... using math skills...

Looks like a Cowboy got lost, which will add to their mileage, same for a Trotter... Someone dropped their map on the roadway... that's a possible littering time penalty, isn't it?

"RE: Speed Bump"
Posted by vince3 on 04-24-11 at 08:14 PM
Sista Act member lost her map...

Zev/Justin and Sista Act got it right and are heading to the castle!

Jet's arrived to see Marco... and he's WRONG! Back to the start with you!

So Jet is wrong. Not the first time.

Get this right the first time around and make up a lot of ground. Get it wrong and cover a lot of ground.

"RE: Make or break... or Cheat!"

It seems that only Zev and Justin got the right number the others simply copied the right answer. The Cowboys were left out of the cheating circle.

Vyxsin got it for herself.

"RE: Make or break... or Cheat!"

Vyxsin's used to doing everything herself.

Let your definition of 'everything' go where it will.

We really don't know that. She was lost and the camera showed her arriving at the same time as Flight Time and Gary so they could have told her. I'm betting they did because we heard them saying they'd help anyone except the Cowboys.

"RE: TAR 18 Ep9 ECST"
Posted by vince3 on 04-24-11 at 08:23 PM
Everybody's taking a nap

Zermatt, Switzerland and search the train station for their next clue...

Zev/Justin tells Flight Time the correct mileage amount... with Sista Act's backing... and he's passing it along to Gary.

Vyxsin also arrives and gets it right on her own!

"Cheeze or Wheeze?"
Posted by Snidget on 04-24-11 at 08:26 PM
Oh dear, the writers are really getting cheesy.

"Detour!"
Posted by vince3 on 04-24-11 at 08:28 PM
LAST EDITED ON 04-24-11 AT 08:29 PM (EST)

Zev/Justin and Sista Act caught the first train, Gary/Mallory, Trotters, and Goths caught the 2nd train...

It's night time in Switzerland for the Detour

Cheese or Wheeze

Cheese: Share an entire pot of Cheese Fondue (no time limit this time... but there is another house band!) Team will get an empty pot with their clue upon completion...

Wheeze: Deliver 20 pieces of luggage from hotels to the train station... 5 hotels.

Both Zev/Justin and Sista Act arrive at Cheese and immediately have second thoughts... Sista Act almost immediately switch tasks...

2nd train has arrived and it seems they're all doing Wheeze...

Zev/Justin: I'm not very fond(ue) of your fondue... *rimshot*

Goths are arguing and acting up again...

Sista Act has delivered 7 bags to 2 different hotels...

Zev/Justin are at least halfway through their pot of fondue...

"And we have"

On MB productions, this also counts for the viewership.

Bad editing on the fondue - it was nearly done and when they came back to Zev & Justin it was full again.

It isn't fair to give them a pot that magically refills itself.

"Helltour."

Let us now imagine the reactions when teams get forced to the other branch.

Better yet, let's imagine the reactions if you were allowed to put someone on the fondue twice.

It took them nearly 55 minutes, but Zev/Justin have completed Cheese!!!

Here comes the Double U-Turn! Which means whoever gets U-Turn'd will have to do Cheese, since Zev/Justin was the only team to initially choose it...

Sista Act have completed Wheeze...

"Double U-Turn and current order"
Posted by vince3 on 04-24-11 at 08:43 PM
Pit Stop: Moos Chalet. Teams must use an electric taxi.

Zev/Justin doesn't use it.
Sista Act doesn't use it.

Zev/Justin win the leg, Justin threatens to puke on Phil before they arrive. They win a trip to Curasao... They're really piling on the 'fondue' jokes too...

Sista Act arrive in 2nd.

Back to Wheeze progress: Trotters at 17, Cowboys at 11, Gary/Mallory at 16, Goths at 20!

"RE: Double U-Turn and current order"
Posted by vince3 on 04-24-11 at 08:46 PM
Vyxsin gives Kent a ride to the Head Porter... while Trotters mistakenly took 2 bags to the wrong hotel...

Gary/Mallory arrive at the porter in 4th, Trotters in 5th... if they've got all their tickets.... and they're short 2!

"RE: Double U-Turn and current order"
Posted by Estee on 04-24-11 at 09:03 PM
I just remembered why I originally liked Vyxsin. 'My partner is useless and I'm going to illustrate that. But at least he's a lightweight. Literally!'

And while you could normally trust the Globetrotters to wreck themselves in a task based on math, reading, and finding their way, having them lose time on losing track of where something was put -- well, Ron & Christina are probably calling that 'karma'.

"RE: Double U-Turn and current order"
Posted by kidflash212 on 04-24-11 at 08:48 PM
So unless Gary & Mallory use their U-turn - no one will get U-turned since The Trotters & Goths already used theirs.

My cuboys. Oh my cuboys. I am so sad

"RE: Double U-Turn and current order"

Trotters were U-Turned in the previous opportunity... by the Cheerleaders, who were eliminated in that leg, ironically enough...

"RE: TAR 18 Ep9 ECST"
Posted by vince3 on 04-24-11 at 08:54 PM
Trotters are gonna take 2 more pieces to the closest hotel...

Goths can't use the U-Turn since they did it last time...

Gary/Mallory doesn't use the U-Turn...

Goths arrive at the Pit Stop in 3rd, Gary/Mallory in 4th.

Down to the 'Alpha Male' teams to avoid elimination...

Both teams are heading to the U-Turn pylon...

Trotters use the U-Turn on the Cowboys!

"RE: TAR 18 Ep9 ECST"
Posted by vince3 on 04-24-11 at 08:55 PM
Cowboys aren't happy about it, but they're gonna eat their cheese...

Trotters arrive in 5th.

Cowboys arrive in last and are ELMINATED.

That's cold. They were a pleasant team. Even if adding isn't their thing.

My problem with them is respect for other human beings isn't their thing either.

Not cold at all. If anyone's "cold", it's the brothers. YMMV on the "pleasant" thing, but they've never been particularly friendly to anyone at any time.

"Insult to injury to fondue..."

...and good riddance to bad rubbish. They would have finished in last place anyway, but I have no objections to making them each swallow a pound of indifferent cheese before they go.

So long, farewell, goodbye, get out.

Indifferent cheese in Switzerland? I doubt that very much.

Those guys make me laugh again:

I'm not fondue of that fondue.
I'm going to puke on Phil.
Can I fondue you?

Also, I have to cheer because I think I made up ground on Yogi in the casino. His lead has fondue.

Also, I have to cheer because I think I made up ground on Yogi in the casino. His lead has fondue.

I had Kent/Vyxsin in 3rd and would've won a double, and then I changed it to the Globetrotters.

Stoopid second-guessing.

Woohoo! Quietly cheering here too. Being a west coaster here who was following the east coast feeds, I still watched the episode anyways, and I'm still pissed Jet/Cord are gone. Oh well...they weren't my only favorite team.
