"TAR 18 Ep7 ECST"

Posted by vince3 on 04-10-11 at 05:29 PM
Please keep details of our return to the Race, currently in India, until the West Coast has stopped laughing at our inability to get an episode to start on time....

It's almost 5:30 Eastern, and with the last group through 12 holes, we have a 4-way tie for the lead, and a few others a stroke back... Odds of finishing up in 90 minutes? Extremely Low...

The golf itself is over, with 12 minutes to spare.

Now if the talking heads would just stop their yammering, we'd be looking at an on-time start.

CBS sports shall not end on time on Sundays is the 11th commandment (and the only one it seems that the TV peeps hold sacred).

And we're off to a reasonably punctual start, by CBS standards.

Some dude from South Africa gets a call from Phil and he decides to finish the Masters with four straight birdies to make the TV world right again.

The guy answered the question the cowboys asked.

They did not ask for the earliest flight.

Words matter!

In India the gas pedal is connected to the honk.

That should have been the title of tonite's episode

Phil's now tweeting during TAR, too...

We get to see Gary/Mallory's Pit Stop Bollywood party.

Gary/Mallory 1:18pm

Fly to Varanasi, then head to a Tonga Stand.

Cowboys 1:52
Ron/Christina 1:53
Zev/Justin 1:54
Goths 1:55 (they seperated everyone by a minute from that grouping...) and they're remembering that they got eliminated the last time they were there...
Sista Act 2:03

First flight doesn't arrive until 10:45am

Cowboys ended up on a flight that didn't arrive until 11:45!

Ron's hungry again, and they decided to head to a restaurant for lunch time...

Trotters 3:45pm

Whoops. Cowboys are gonna be an hour behind because they didn't specify to get on the earliest flight...

"Actually"
Posted by samboohoo on 04-11-11 at 08:56 AM
The did. Cord specially asked, "What's the quickest flight to Varanasi?" and were told that 11:45 was.

Gary & Mallory asked for the quickest.

Ron & Christina asked for 2 tickets to Varanasi. No mention of the quickest.

Zev & Justin asked if they flew to Varanasi and were told yes and that the flight arrived at 10:45. They didn't mention anything the speed of the flight but did ask for seats close to the front.

Jen & Kesha then asked for what Zev & Justin got.

Kent & Vyxsin went to an agent and asked for the fastest and confirmed it was the quickest.

Flight Time & Big Easy asked for the earliest flight.

Jet & Cord had a bad ticket agent. Could they have asked a second time? Sure. But Cord initially did ask for the fastest. All of the other teams got the fastest even when some didn't ask.

I know many don't like search tasks, but I really enjoyed this one. Not too hard, just need to use your eyes.

Or in Ron's case use your feet.

It led to the funniest line of the evening: They look like anorexic Santa Claus!

Zev & Justin have the funniest lines every week! They make me *snort* all.the.time.

And I loved how the editing turned up the noise so we'd hear how Zev heard the noise and then Mallory gave him some ear plugs.

The cowboys catch up to the other teams, and Ron is still down at the waterfront wandering around.

"Roadblock"
Posted by vince3 on 04-10-11 at 08:36 PM
Who's ready to search for the meaning of life?

Find 6 holy men, who'll each give you a portion of a question asking about the meaning of lift... you must use pictures to find the right holy men... After figuring out the riddle, they then head to another holy man who'll they'll have to tell him the 'meaning of life' to receive their next clue.

Cowboys finally arrive in town.

Kent found the final holy man.

Once you're over the hill you pick up speed

Kent is with Gary, Ron's royally lost Jen was with a Trotter. Zev's hating life waiting at the gathering point as the noise is very loud...

Sista Act's out of there, Zev/Justin and Trotters will be out next

Swaminath Akhara, find the strongman for the next clue.

Who's ready to search for the meaning of life?

I have to wonder where that answer came from.

I'm already over the hill, but I'm not too interested in picking up any more speed!

But the alternative is pretty bad.

"RE: Roadblock"

Yeah, but you gotta watch out for those Speed Bumps!

Yes if I could erase 10 years!

Oh heck. I'll just use Oil of Olay!

Kent was a real asshat tonight. Follow Gary and then run off. What a jerk.

"RE: Roadblock"
Posted by ARnutz on 04-10-11 at 09:28 PM
...and it looks like he's going to be an asshat next week too.

I don't know what it is about the goths... I thought those two were so much fun in their original season. This time, they are painful to watch!

"RE: Roadblock"
Posted by kidflash212 on 04-10-11 at 09:41 PM
Agree, they lost some joi de vivre along the way.

On a related note though, I really disliked Jet's sneering attitude toward Kent. Kent was a jerk but Jet didn't know that.

"RE: Roadblock"
Posted by jbug on 04-10-11 at 10:04 PM
I was hoping to see Kent go this ep too.
Being so ugly to the cab driver after he hit his head on the trunk lid - blamed the driver.
Then after they switched from the boat to a taxi, pushed the occupant out of the taxi. RUDE - in capital letters!

Yeah, it's like watching a tag team nightmare.

"RE: TAR 18 Ep7 ECST"
Posted by vince3 on 04-10-11 at 08:41 PM
Once he gets the last piece, Kent dusts Gary and leaves Gary high and dry...

Ron's royally lost. Cameraman literally rear-ends a cow!

Zev/Justin and Trotters found the next location.

DETOUR!

Feed the Fire or Feed the Buffalo

Fire: make 50 traditional fuel patties made from buffalo manure, then stick them on the wall. After that, use dried patties to make a fire to boil milk (I think that's what the last fire was for...)

Buffalo: Pick up load of hay, re-cross the river, then deliver hay to milk farm

Cowboys escaped the Roadblock 6th, and Ron's nowhere near the holy men that he's supposed to find...

"RE: TAR 18 Ep7 ECST"
Posted by Snidget on 04-10-11 at 08:43 PM
He seems to be in a completely different area than where everyone else was. At least what I remember seeing of the other teams.

"RE: TAR 18 Ep7 ECST"
Posted by cahaya on 04-10-11 at 08:46 PM
At this rate, he'll be there all day and into the night. He'd better head back to square 1 and do a methodical search from there.

Posted by Earl Colby Pottinger on 04-10-11 at 08:45 PM
Cowboys go to the other side of the world to feed cows again.

Posted by vince3 on 04-10-11 at 08:51 PM
Sista Act arrive at Fire's location, and are immediately nauseated.

Meanwhile Zev/Justin and Trotters are looking for their delivery address.

Goths and Gary/Mallory are heading to Fire, and Gary/Mallory see outdoor cremation ceremonies...

Ron finally escapes the Roadblock!

Buffalo guys are getting ambushed by a herd of cattle!

Sista Act's arguing royally...

Pit Stop: Ramnagar Port (via a picture)

Both Buffalo guys are heading for the Pit Stop!

"RE: TAR 18 Ep7 ECST"
Posted by vince3 on 04-10-11 at 08:55 PM
Sista Act had to replace 3 patties, but they're now on their way to the Pit Stop!

Again: The Kent, he does nothing (but whine and complain...)

Gary/Mallory also have arrived... and ironically enough, the last time she wore that outfit on the Race... was the Russian Cow Manure Roadblock!

Trotters finish first! They win a trip to Hawaii's Big Island.
Zev/Justin finish 2nd

Goth's water taxi is so slow, that Vyxsin goes into the water to try to make up time...

"RE: TAR 18 Ep7 ECST"
Posted by cahaya on 04-10-11 at 09:10 PM
Taking a water taxi seems to probably be a good idea, depending on street conditions. It's certainly faster in cities like Bangkok.

However, Ron's delay in finding the gurus leads to the demise of Ron and Christina.

"RE: TAR 18 Ep7 ECST"
Posted by dabo on 04-11-11 at 01:21 AM
True, but then they gambled on navigating Feed the Buffalo rather than performance Feed the Fire. They probably would have lost in either case, but they risked getting really lost the second time.

"RE: TAR 18 Ep7 ECST"
Posted by kidflash212 on 04-10-11 at 09:32 PM
I was hoping for Zev & Justin to finish first just to not have to hear Herb & Nate's exagerrated bragging about going from last to first. Isn't all that impressive when there was a bunch point. And the Trotters need to turn the volume down.

"RE: TAR 18 Ep7 ECST"
Posted by kidflash212 on 04-10-11 at 09:21 PM
Finding the delivery address didn't seem quite as difficult as Phil described it.

"RE: TAR 18 Ep7 ECST"

Of course, they may have edited out any wandering that went on.

"RE: TAR 18 Ep7 ECST"
Posted by kidflash212 on 04-10-11 at 09:27 PM
Maybe but the teams that chose the hay made up a great deal of time over teams that chose fire.

"RE: TAR 18 Ep7 ECST"
Posted by ARnutz on 04-10-11 at 09:30 PM
True. That task had to take longer as Kisha/Jen were done with the roadblock first, but only got to the mat in third.

"Finish order continues"
Posted by vince3 on 04-10-11 at 09:07 PM
Sista Act 3rd
Gary/Mallory 4th
Cowboys 5th

Ron/Christina take a water taxy that actually can move...

Goths 6th
Ron/Christina 7th and eliminated

"RE: Finish order continues"
Posted by kidflash212 on 04-10-11 at 09:19 PM
Eh, no big surprise- Ron & Christina were lucky to make it this far. They were near the bottom on most of the legs.
The fact they made the final in their original season was a fluke, they were not a very good team.

Next week I really hope to lose either of the alpha male teams - the Globetrotters or the Cowboys. Having both of them is just too much.

Hope they get out of India already. After seeing so much of India on AR, I know I never want to visit.
