Looks like we are starting on time, again, at least here.

I'm skeered. This can't be right. Why are they messing with me like this???

Anyway keep all discussion of the episode on this thread until it has aired on the West Coast.

There seems to be no Canadian advantage this season. Weird. Is this payback for the Winter Games?

Have they ever done that before?
Use the pit stop time to take them to another location?

Yep, one pitstop was on a ship and it cruised to the next location.

Don't know of a bus trip before.

I thought that the March Madness selection show would run over so I'm surprised that TAR is starting on time.

The teams get on the same bus to a mystery location, which is in France where they must drive themselves to a bakery in a town that I won't even attempt to spell.

And the police at first can't see a clue that is right in front of them and in their hands!

In the Trenches or
Under Fire.

Join the French and pick their own battle.

Trenches--in trench at communication manual. Translate Morse Code.

Under Fire. Belly crawl to the machine gun next. Message from soldier.

Either case attach message to a homing pigeon.

A WWI detour that looks muddy, muddy and muddy no matter which you take.

And another TAR first - homing pigeons.

Looks like their order for a huge deluge in time to muddy up the place came in on time.

They're literally going around in circles through the roundabout. "Keep going, and maybe we'll find the street we're supposed to go on."

Can't wait until Jeff and Jordan gets there ... she'll freak out thinking it's a real war.

(no, haven't played in a war game, but the set looks very authentic)

They can do a U-turn. It is blind.

The Cops Uturn Joe and Heidi. Didn't like what they were saying during the trip.

Go into town and find a church.

What is with D&J, position at the end of a leg matters.

If there is no big bunch point the sooner you arrive the sooner you leave on the next leg.

This is a bit lame at no road block unless this is an extended leg.

1. The Cops. They win a 55 inch HD TV.
2. Steve/Allie
3. Jet/Cord
4. Dan/Jordan
5. Carl and Brandon (Phil laughs at the mustaches)
6 Bret and Caite---but missed picking up the clue so have to go back and get it.

They find the clue.

6. Brent and Caite
7. Jeff and Jordan
8. Phil goes to the trenches. you are the last team, you have been eliminated.

"RE: Finish Order"
Posted by PepeLePew13 on 03-14-10 at 07:56 PM
Four miles back, find the clue and four miles again to the pit stop ... and Brent/Caite are still team number 6.

After much whining, Jeff/Jordan finally drag in at 7th place.

Joe/Heidi give up after they couldn't get the Morse code, and they just sit and huddle in a bunker until Phil comes to find them to inform they are eliminated from the race.

Brent & Caite didn't pick up their clue at the last stop so they have to go back to retrieve it and they won't be checked in until they get it.

"RE: TAR 16, Episode 5 - East Coast Spoiler Thread "
Posted by jbug on 03-14-10 at 07:48 PM
missed the one by the u-turn sign?

It was just too much that the road they took brought them to the bicycles also

"RE: TAR 16, Episode 5 - East Coast Spoiler Thread "
Posted by Snidget on 03-14-10 at 07:56 PM
It is happened before that people have gone past a clue and happened on the next one. I don't think they can always make them out of the way of each other.

"RE: TAR 16, Episode 5 - East Coast Spoiler Thread "
Posted by AyaK on 03-15-10 at 12:52 PM
Actually, I think the producers did this on purpose. They had the teams go south to the blind U-turn, then the clue was for the teams to turn around and go back the other way (north) to the bicycles. I think they were deliberately trying to get someone to miss the clue box, and the models obliged.

"South as in a direction, or south as in where we're supposed to go?"

Can't make up this kind of stupid from the map wizards (Caite and Brent)

I feel so bad for Joe & Heidi but hey, it's a race.
Phil has to come get them to tell them that they've been Philiminated.

"RE: TAR 16, Episode 5 - East Coast Spoiler Thread "
Posted by jbug on 03-14-10 at 07:56 PM
It's hard to watch Joe & Heidi.
If not for Joe bragging they probably wouldn't ahve been u-turned.
Guess taht's one time the u-turn worked as planned.

Haven't the U-Turn always proved fatal? I can't recall a team that survived a U-Turn.

"RE: TAR 16, Episode 5 - East Coast Spoiler Thread "
Posted by AyaK on 03-15-10 at 12:55 PM
It shouldn't have been fatal this time. They were in third place when they were U-turned. Morse Code is difficult but not as impossible as they made it. They were just convinced that the Morse Code said the same thing as the written message.

Hmmm. The whole preview was about Brent and Caite, we didn't see another team. They wouldn't give us the next Philiminated team like that, would they?

It was kind of boring. The World War I part went on and on. It was interesting at first. But after awhile everyone looked alike and I was ready to move on. I wanted to see a roadblock. And instead they all just followed each other in the order they left. If nobody had been U-Turned it would have had no suspense at all.

This reminds me of last year's episode after the non-elimination, which took place entirely in Prague. The idea is to make the speed bump a real penalty, without any bunching point to take care of the time lag.

And twice in a row, the non-eliminated team has survived.
