"It's official - there will be a second season"

From the Hollywood Reporter (www.hollywoodreporter.com):

"CBS on mark for 2nd 'Race'
Nov. 07, 2001

CBS has ordered a second installment of Jerry Bruckheimer's reality series "The Amazing Race." The new globe-trotting contest will feature 12 pairs, who have been selected (up from 11 in the first edition), racing through 11 cities for the $1 million prize. Because of security reasons, the network and the show's producers -- Bruckheimer Films, Touchstone Television and CBS Prods. -- declined to reveal the exact destinations and the production's start date. "Amazing Race 2" is set to air midseason or during the summer. (Nellie Andreeva)"

Just a couple of comments for now:

1) An extra team will add a bit to the confusion (at least in my eyes), but would reduce the number of non-elim episodes and also provide two more people to root for - or against.

2) If they want to make it by midseason (March, let's say), they'd better start picking their people in a hurry. The application link is still up at CBS' Web site, but who knows how long that will stay.

GREAT NEWS!!!!!

In my opinion, they should save AR2 for the summer. Midseason replacements are put into timeslots nobody wants or have failed at. Less competition in the summer = more of a following for this great show.

I'm with you Cole. Although I'll be chomping at the bit for a new AR as soon as this one is over, the summer will give more people a chance to view it without West Wing guilt.

"No Mike and Krista"

Maybe CBS and the producers HAVE picked their people for TAR2 already. See this article from the Big Brother 2 forum, which indicates that BB2 contestants Krista and Mike Boogie were being considered as one of the teams, but Mike Boogie decided not to do it ... and Krista broke off their engagement as a result.
