This is the thread to either jump in or jump out of OTCC for the rest of the year -

There may be some haggling going on for dates - as usual - feel free to ask to change if something doesn't work for you - keep it fun and there pretty much are no rules except that you will be pestered if your post isn't up in the am of the date it's due. I will and have followed you to Facebook.

If there's opting in or out I'll update in a week, so don't write down anything in pen just yet.

The line-up for the rest of 2010 is as follows:

April 2 - Fro
April 16th - Seana
April 30th - Weltek
May 14 - Pepe
May 28th - MKitty
June 11th - Mr. T-Kit
June 25th - SilverGirl
July 9th - MC
July 23rd - Boo
Aug 6th - CapN
Aug 13th - Sharnina
Aug 27th - Tummy
Sept 10th - Breezy
Sept 24th - Starshine
Oct 8th - Karchita
Oct 22th - Slicey
Nov 5th - CTGirl
Nov 19th - Snidget
Dec 3rd - Buggy
Dec 17th - Qwertypie
Dec 31st - TKit
Jan 14th - Arkie

Awesome!

I am trying to get Mr. Qwerty to get involved, but I am working on it.

Not to be fussy, but I was wanting to do a grilling recipe ( one that can also be done inside, but much better on the grill), so November would suck for that.
If anyone wants to trade that would be awesome, since it's a warm weather dish.
If not, that is terrific too, and I'll make something different. Anytime is good for me, I'll just adjust my thinking on it.

Thanks for all the hard work, this has been so fun.

May 14 ... check!

Thanks for the reminder, Tummy. For some reason, I had 'April' on my mind, but May 14 is perfect. I have about 4 recipes in mind, haven't made up my mind which one I'll serve up for the OTCC.

In fact, since May 14 falls right between the second last episode and the finale episode of Survivor Heroes vs Villains, maybe I could serve up a recipe of fried rat kabob on rice or something like that.

I think January 2011 - yes I think OTCC will still be around then - we'll reshuffle. I'll list the Fridays and everyone can request one. That way someone doesn't get stuck posting within the same season as the last time they posted.

Sound fair?

'Cause as Boo pointed out - I'm not the boss of you?

and ps - I don't know if I can blame OTCC but the time sure seems to have gone by really, really fast!

Yay for '11 OTCC! I may even actually get in on this. All the recipes have sounded so yummy so far. I need to print out all of them and then start from the beginning. I have a lot to catch up on!!

You can be he boss of me, if you'd like!!

Yes, time has flown by

"RE: OTCC Housecleaning"
Posted by frodis on 03-16-10 at 04:19 PM
Maybe you could reshuffle before we start over again? So, instead of repeating the order starting with you again, you could shuffle first?

Yes, I'm only piping up because I would have been the first person in 2011 and if you shuffle it'll be even longer before I get to go again and I haven't even gone yet.

"RE: OTCC Housecleaning"
Posted by Karchita on 03-16-10 at 05:05 PM
What would you think of going every week instead of every other week? That would reduce the wait for everyone, but it may reduce the participation as not everyone could keep up.

People do seem to do the ones they want to do on their own schedule anyhow, even weeks later.

A general note to people with grilling recipes. I live in Connecticut and we grill outside all year long!* I know its not feasible for everyone to do that but I think you can stretch the seasons a bit (plus some grilling recipes can also be broiled).

*yes my husband has stood outside in a jacket and gloves and with an umbrella over his head!

"New Poll"
Posted by Tummy on 03-16-10 at 05:44 PM
Per Karchita

Every Friday

or

Every Other Friday

This wouldn't change if Every Friday until the week of Aug 13th.

I'm voting for Every Other - it's a good schedule for me and I'm afraid Every Friday would take some of the anticipation away.

"RE: New Poll"
Posted by Starshine on 03-16-10 at 05:50 PM
I think every other works best for me, I think I would get overwhelmed with a new recipe every week

"RE: New Poll"
Posted by frodis on 03-16-10 at 05:58 PM
I vote to stick with every other week.

I'm afraid that with every week it might be too much, and I'm afraid that the lovely long discussion threads would die too quickly with people getting backlogged. I'd be sad if someone's feelings got hurt if their recipe doesn't get as much feedback because people are backlogged.

I originally thought every other week would be way too much time inbetween but as it turns out, for me, it's perfect.

I still have to make qwerty's! I was waiting for warmer weather.

"RE: New Poll"
Posted by thndrkttn on 03-16-10 at 06:05 PM
Every other week is good with me. I would not be able to participate as much if we went every week.

And this may not be a popular opinion, but I think we should stick to the schedule and not have peeps randomly posting OTCC recipes. What's the point of a schedule if we are going to post them randomly? It kind of takes away from the recipe that is supposed to be made that two week period. YMMV.

"RE: New Poll"
Posted by PepeLePew13 on 03-16-10 at 06:32 PM
I agree.

It takes attention away from the person hosting the OTCC during these two weeks (we're all desperate attention whores, no?) and it also risks creating a situation that a number of us have already expressed a concern about -- too many cooks making it hard for some of us to keep up.

"RE: New Poll"
Posted by Karchita on 03-16-10 at 06:38 PM
I agree completely. While it hasn't happend much so far, and when it has I have seen it as just spontaneous high spirits, it isn't kind to the person who waited to post during his or her assigned time.

"RE: New Poll"
Posted by Tummy on 03-16-10 at 07:18 PM
Clarification - I think almost anytime a new OTCC recipe has been posted early the person has contacted me and said they're afraid they will not be available on Friday or something to that effect. I think in all instances it was only by a day or a few. And I'm not the boss of everyone but I think I can state for the majority of us I'm happy they were willing to post early than late. By 10 am on OTCC Fridays I'm checking every 10 minutes and sending pms. *grin Yeah, I'm impatient.

"RE: New Poll"
Posted by Karchita on 03-16-10 at 06:33 PM
Every other week is definitely good with me. I was just tossing the every week idea out there as a way to get around people having to wait so long for their turn.

"Second New Poll"

per Fro

Shuffle come Aug 13th

or

Shuffle at the first of the year

I don't think I care so I'll vote with majority on this. Don't make me be a tie breaker!

"RE: Second New Poll"
Posted by Capn2patch on 03-16-10 at 05:57 PM
Why does it have to be written in stone.

If someone is dying to share something and can't wait, I don't see why you can't squeeze them in.

The other side of the coin is, demand is high because there is limited availability. Or in cooking terms, too many cooks spoil the sauce, too much sugar ruins the pie.

For me I'm good with the 8/6 date.

"RE: Second New Poll"
Posted by Tummy on 03-16-10 at 06:20 PM
We have an OTCC schedule because it's what seems to work.

Anyone at anytime is free to post a food thread anytime they want - I don't think anyone has ever said that OTCC is the only food thread allowed. Lord, there's times OT would shut down if not for the food or beverage threads.

Having said that I like having a schedule with a time period that I feel I need to fix the recipe within. I also feel a responsibility to fix all the recipes, but that's just me.

I don't feel like I need to fix any recipes outside of OTCC. But they're nice to read and fix if they intrigue me.

YMMV

"RE: Second New Poll"
Posted by frodis on 03-16-10 at 06:07 PM
Shuffle August 13 (before everyone starts over)

Note: if you were to just make the call either way I'd be happy with it. The only reason I even noticed is because I'd have been "next" as the first in 2011.

No complaining in this thread.

I am good either way.

"RE: Second New Poll"
Posted by Karchita on 03-16-10 at 10:15 PM
Am I confused?

Tummy, don't you mean to complete the entire second cycle so everyone has two turns, and then shuffle for the third turn? So Fro doesn't need to worry that the schedule ends at the end of 2010 before her second turn, that was just where you ended the list for now.

"Shuffling"
Posted by Tummy on 03-17-10 at 06:19 AM
Do we need to shuffle - or as I originally typed it - shuggle - at all?

My thought on shuffling was to make sure people that wanted a certain season didn't get stuck within what they did the first time. But I think it's just complicating things that don't need complicated. So I think I'll just leave it alone and those that want to ask for a specific season can just ask. Does that make more sense?

I'm good for April 16. I have already typed out one recipe and was fiddling around with another just to get amounts, since I don't really measure. Hee hee. I may also post early, since the 16th is the Grand Re-Opening of my kids' school.

I am fine in whatever order. I agree that a shuffle might be a good time to add new peeps, like sharnina. *wave*

I like every other. Sometimes, I can't make a recipe right away. Because of my picky family, I often have to wait until DH is on afternoons so I don't have to say "You don't have to have any" 50 times. Pfft.
