"Guiding Light -- Who Shot Phillip?"

Any GL fans out there? Lady T?

I actually don't believe he's dead. Alan was acting a little too suspicious. He stayed at the hospital to take care of things and wouldn't let Beth stay. Also, Alan was going to make a call to get another ME to do the autopsy. Who is Alan to make that call.

Phillip is alive and Alan just sent him away to heal.

Maybe it's a last move in the Olivia/Phillip Cat & Mouse game.

I am not sure who shot Phillip, but I do know that Grant Alexander is not coming back...at least for a while. Your idea that Alan set this up is a possiblity that way they could bring back Phillip later, but at least for now...Phillip is gone. Now we just need to figure out who shot him or who will take the blame for it anyway.
So far I have ruled out Harley and Olivia as too obvious. Beth wouldn't do it, Lizzie might but probably not. Alan is capable of anything and Rick might do it if pushed, but being a doctor a don't think he would do it and leave him there to die. I think we really need to look outside the box with this one.
I will write more if I think of anyone else.

Oh yeah I agree that he won't be back. I just think they've set it up for a return. We never saw his dead body.

Shooters:

I agree with what you said. I think it's going to look a lot like Olivia or Harley. I don't think Billy because he's already been to jail for shooting Roger.

Could be Buzz or Alex. I haven't read anything about either of these 2 leaving, but there's not much story left for Alex. It's about time for her to go away for a while.

I haven't watched this show in forever (I used to be addicted). I was home yesterday afternoon for awhile and saw it. I was sobbing like a baby. And not only because Grant Alexander has been a crush since like 1983, /

I loved Phillip and Beth and Rick and Mindy. I loved the whole Justin. Alan daddy drama. I love this character!!! And he's such a good actor. I'm incredibly bummed.

WTF is wrong with this show that they would ruin Philip like this?

Mindy will be back this week for the "funeral."

I think they've run out of things to do with Phillip for a while. He's still nuts, but they couldn't leave him in the nuthouse indefinately -- at least not on-screen.

Maybe Alan has sent him away to heal. And maybe Alan shot him when he saw Harley leaving Company.

I too have had a crush on Grant Alexander and his Phillip character! I haven't watched this show in prolly 15 years but was hooked in the eighties!

I had read that Grant was leaving the show so I guess they can always bring back the other phillip that was in the early 90's...isn't he the one in the viagra commercials?

It's amazing how you can be hooked, stop watching and years later get hooked again. The last time I watched religiously was when Harley and Mallet were together and then they moved away. That crushed me. Had to have been around '91 or '92. Can't remember why I came back, I think it was when Rick was having heart troubles. But now I actually listen while at work. I know, it's sad.

Not sure about the viagra commercials, I usually skip those. But I remember them casting that other Philip as a cop on Another World some time back. I don't think they'd bring him back. Grant is Philip. And I think one day he'll be back. No one really ever dies.

Hey crush kids, I actually met Grant years ago. He was one of my sister's best friends in high school.

From the soap opera mags I read, it wasn't Grant's decision to leave the show. And I hate what they did to his character at the end too. Sad end for one of the 4 Musketeers.

You know the difference between you and me? I make this look good.

Since he didn't leave the show willingly, I really, really hope they don't recast for February sweeps. At first, I thought they'd make it someone in a more supporting role they could send of to jail and no one would think otherwise. But of course, it's a soap, so even if the person goes to jail, somehow they'll end up getting out of it.
Hopefully it's Alexandra- I've always worshipped her and she can definitely chew up scenery (in a good way).
I'm glad they have this storyline cause I HATE Me-chelle and Tony. It's so yucky on so many levels. Blech.

It's a RollyPolly siggie.

Me too on the Tony/Michelle pairing, although I wasn't around much during the Danny/Michelle years. But it's still icky! I still have Monday and Tuesdays eps on TiVo. I'll make sure to fast forward through those scenes.

How I love to talk about soaps!!!!

I think Billy Lewis did it. Why? Because he is a recurring character with history on the show. To have him kill Phillip while protecting his family goes with the history of the show. ANd he isn't around enough that he would really be all that missed.

I am so glad that they finally addressed Roger Thorpe. I loved Michael Zaslow, he truly was the best villian that daytime has ever seen. The episode where they spread the ashes was awesome.

I am also loving Gina Tognoni as Dinah. She has all the nuances of the character. I love to hate her. I really didn't care for Wendy Moniz' portrayal as Dinah nad think Gina is doing a hell of a better job.

Michelle and Tony,I have to agree with everyone. Can we get any more ickier? However, I would like to see a little flirtation between Cassie and Danny but that is because I was a huge Loving fan.

IMHO, the only other soap better than GL right now is All my Kids.

I got home early enough today to watch, and I think you may be right. He's definitely hiding something.
I love the new Dinah too.... I just wish she didn't have so many scenes with not-Richard, who I always want to yank through my screen and cut his hair off. And I like long hair on guys.
I think they were inching towards a Cassie/Danny pairing, but backed off and reunited him with Michelle for the jillionth time.
So maybe Coop can get arrested for the murder so Frank can arrest all of his family members? I don't think Harley did it... do you think we're going to get another dramatic soap trial?

A wonderful gift from Mon Cherie.

I think it would be boring if Billy did it.

I've been watching GL since I was 4 and I'm now 47. Probably an illness but thank goodness for VCR’s. Must say the "Crazy Phil" story didn't do much for me either. I was thinking the same about Alan's weird behavior in the hospital and think he has stashed his boy wonder far from Springfield. I hope he re-surfaces - I missed Grant Alexander when he left before. He adds a lot to the show.

I don't think it's Billy but Billy thinks the "beefy boy" he set out to scare him did it. That's a possibility. Harley is freaking and has no idea but I'm glad it's brought her to her senses about Gus. Michele needs to hit her head really hard - I could see her falling for the original Tony but not this one.

Who shot Phil? Something is telling me Beth has something to do with it - her behavior is always strange but she's taking this to a new level. Maybe she went to reason with him and things went wrong or maybe she and Alan are in the "Hide Phil For a Year" plan and she wigging. I don't care who did it as long as he's not really dead.

I say: bring back Alan Michael!

I haven't watched GL for about ten years now, but I feel I can safely state that Phillip is safe and sound.

About 25 years ago, maybe less, Alan was thought to be dead. A camera shot showed his broken, torn, lifeless body at the bottom of a chasm in the jungles somewhere. Everyone was convinced he was a goner for several years.

Then mysterious Alan-like manipulations started up, and he miraculously re-appeared. So no, Phillip is not dead.

Hmmmmmm - I'll have to start watching again, Samboohoo. Now see what you've done?!

I'm already reading rumors in the soap magazines that Philip may be alive and well.

I make this look good.

<Philip may be alive and well.

He'll probably come back with an entirely new face. I think that's happened once before with Philip and Alan.

Of course, no one commented on it in Springdale.

I just read today's episode summary, and if I'm reading it right, Philip was shot by...

LIZZIE.

The mentally unbalanced psycho hose beast accidentally shot her father.

I was hoping that would be the way it turned out. A major character who's killed or nearly killed a bunch of people finally knocks someone off that she didn't really want to. Heh heh heh. It makes so much sense.

As good of an actress as she is, I just felt like that character was too unreemable to keep around for any length of time without something major happening, given how far down the path of destruction she's gone.

So...

Does Lizzie get away with killing someone again? Remember, she's already killed an abusive stepdad.

Does Lizzie get sent away to one of those lovely little hospitals where the jackets have the sleeves in the back?

Or does Lizzie pull a Dinah and go on the lam?

I must admit, having her be the killer really offers some meaty opportunities for the Spauldings and the Coopers.

I haven't been watching or reading up on it lately since I've been so busy. I figure I can miss at least 2 weeks and not miss too much.

I too have liked this Lizzie, and she's a Spaulding. Somehow she'll get away with it.

I finally got around to watching my Dr. Phil show on Tivo today. Lizzie looks just like Victoria from TAR. Ewwwwwwwwww. That is all.
