Tonight, I expect Team Rah-Rah-Rah to finish exactly like the Giants: with a tremendous surge at the end that winds up meaning exactly nothing.

Feh.

Everyone complained how horribly unfair it was to have Sarah get to her seat somewhere in the middle of Economy class before everyone else did. No one managed to explain just why it mattered, but were they ever upset about it.

Oh man, that was the stupidest reason for someone to get upset. Its Airlines regulations, handicap get on first. Its not like the plane is going to land at a differnt tme than they have. Its only getting on the freaking plane. Geez, its not like a special flight.

Well, but they do get to sit in their airliner seats longer, no additional wear and tear the rest must suffer having to stand and wait in line a ten whole minutes while the three-legged racers are just, you know, sitting and not going anywhere.

It's on here in NC See-BS. What are you getting there. Here the football ended on time so it started on schedule.

Quick question for anyone who might know... This is my first TAR that I'm recording with DirecTv's DVR unit. It started late. Will the DVR still record all of it, or do I need to hedge my bet by also recording whatever comes after? I have to do the recrap, so I don't want to miss getting it.

LAST EDITED ON 09-24-06 AT 08:22 PM (EST)

I'd record the show afterward just in case. Mine typically won't record past the end time when something starts late.

ETA: I have DVR with the cable company

And we're back where TAR I started. Mongolia. Except, this time they know where they are, and they don't have to go find their passports.

Mongolian Barbeque is a type of meal you can get at some Chinese restaurants. You can make your own dish by choosing vegetables from a salad type of bar and the chef will cook it for you with your choice of meat (shrimp, chicken, or beef) and sauce.

"It's HuHot!"
Posted by udg on 09-25-06 at 00:10 AM
HuHot Mongolian Grill & BBQ is a restaurant that's really popular here. I didn't think it was all that great, however, and if you're vegetarian or have food allergies, FORGET IT! Even though you get to pick your own ingredients (which should be perfect for someone with a restricted diet), they cook it all on the same huge grill, which means that all the meat or allergens from the previous persons meal get mixed in with your meal during the cooking process.

But, yeah, BBQ is definitely NOT the first thing I think of when someone says, "Mongolia." Yurts, on the other hand, make my top 5.

Lyn & Karlyn are starting to work my last nerve. They won't spare a moment of thought for anyone else, the world is against them and physical handicaps exist only to show how much the race is biased to keep them down -- but they'll take charity, helping hands, and spare containers of water from anyone. Double standards much? Kudos to David & Mary for not just pouring it out on the ground, but as far as I'm concerned, that Jeep going down is closer to karma than car trouble.

There's only one way to handle an ox behaving that badly. Stuff your fingers into his nostrils & pinch. Hard. As long as you have them there they aren't going anywhere you don't want them to.

"RE: TAR10 - EP2 - East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by PepeLePew13 on 09-24-06 at 08:52 PM
Would Rob like it if you did that to him? After all, he's behaving like an ox.

Adios, Kellie and Jamie... perhaps if you spent a little more time on the race than on teaching others how to lead a cheer, you'd still be in the race.

I missed it, why did they turn around if they were going in the right direction in the first place?

If they had not it would have been neat little fight between all girl teams for the final slot as it is clear neither could have made it in the first few shots.

*snort* It's seeming more and more like this thing started at slightly different times depending upon where you live. Makes this thread kind of hard to keep up with and interesting, all at the same time.

I'm guessing it depends on which football game they had this afternoon? Did one of them go into overtime or sumptin'?

"RE: TAR10 - EP2 - East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by Estee on 09-24-06 at 09:01 PM
'cause in some areas, CBS had the early NFL game, and the schedule could adjust to start the Race on time -- while in others, the afternoon game inevitably ran overtime and nothing cuts back 60 Minutes, so the show started late. It's pretty much going to be a problem for the whole season.

"RE: TAR10 - EP2 - East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by StarryLuna on 09-24-06 at 10:14 PM
Yes. On my local affiliate, the Baltimore-Cleveland game ran about 15 minutes over, so TAR didn't start here until 8:15 or so.

Mine too. And we had to watch it live, with commercials and all, since our DVR took a crap last night. ARGH!

All in all, I'm satisfied with this episode. Although all the whining and crying made my ears bleed.

Can anyone say Trabant?

Duke & Lauren run out of cash.

Possibly because the starting money for the leg is twelve cents.

I felt like this was a very full leg. A long ride from China and then a tough stretch in Mongolia. Lots of break downs, eh! Good thing the locals helped out. I really enjoyed seeing our Mongolian spolier get some good air time

My favorite quote of the night was when Peter/Sarah checked in first, and Phil commented how great it must be to finish first after only two legs. That comment struck me as incredibly funny, for some reason.

And, you know, you would think shooting an arrow into the air wouldn't be all that tiring, but cheergirl just gave up. I can't remember a second episode with so much whining and bickering (not counting Team Paolos), I genuinely got a headache after awhile.
