We've already got the downside. TAR is on right after 60 Minutes -- which is on after football -- which ends at -- well, eventually, it ends... If you're having a viewing party, get extra ice.

Most triathlon running courses are on asphalt, not grassy ground. My guess is the hills aren't a problem, the uneven footing was. (May still spell a problem depending upon where they go & what ground they have to cover at speed.)

In their defense, Koreans use Chinese characters all the time (so do Japnese to a lesser extent) Most Korean names are taken from Chinese characters. You will find that most Koreans can pronounce an dread some Chinese.

And, we'd, at least, be in trouble. I played tennis, too. So, I can do the "handle the ball on the racquet & flip sides" thing. DH is a runner. He only plays one sport that involves balls - and that wouldn't be something shown on tv.

Um... That was this TAR. I think the first to use it for "Fast, Fast" were the Black women. Then the Kentuckians used it later in the same way. (That's why the title of the episode.)

OK I was not thrilled with the premiere. First off, I think that whole extra non pit stop elim was pointless. Once we got that shot of the last team card I think everyone knew it was coming...a lacking surprise in my opinion. However, seeing Sarah climb the wall was very inspirational. Good for her. The tease for next week looked good!

Two of the most interesting teams in the race are already gone. Can't blame the show, but that sure wasn't the idea when they brought on all the different types of teams for this season.

We still have the:

Underdog overcoming the odds of winning while wearing a prosthesis and trying to find true love along the way.

Couple who loves hates loves whatevers each other so much that they're using the race to figure out how they really feel.

The gay couple who will take no prisoners.

The "I've never been out of the hills before" couple (with the added bonus of living "traditional" man/woman roles that, according to the woman, are about to change - whether the man knows or agrees, or not).

The father and gay daughter using the race to "repair" their relationship (evidently torn when she came out of the closet to him to a less than positive reaction).

Brothers trying to prove their worth to each other.

Horndogs.

Cheerleaders and former Miss USA contestants, both trying to prove that beauty doesn't equal dumb or weak in all cases.

...

Even after the first episode, and 2 eliminations, it still looks a lot like a normal seasonal mix of show starters to me.

(I keed. I agree that it would have been interesting to see both teams go farther. But, I don't think it was rigged so that they'd fail.)
