"E! gets ready to Kill Reality..."

Posted by Estee on 07-13-05 at 05:44 PM
Great title. The execution may lack something.

'E! Conspires to 'Kill Reality'

Cable network E! is preparing to serve up its own take on "Project Greenlight," with a cast of former reality-TV folks looking to prove that they can act as well as act out.

"Kill Reality," a show that will throw together a bunch of
unscripted-TV veterans and watch as they film a horror movie
(co-written by another of their kind), is scheduled to premiere
Monday, July 25 on E! While the title hints at the possibility of
schadenfreude for viewers, it sounds like the only dying will be the faked kind, or potentially someone's career.

"'Kill Reality' gives your favorite reality stars the opportunity to prove their talents and acting abilities and to show they are more than just stars of reality television, " says Lisa Berger, head of programming development at E! Networks. "Fans of the reality genre will love seeing their favorite stars commingling together and working together toward one common goal - to make a great horror film."

That movie, "The Scorned," will make its debut on E! in September, with a more explicit version scheduled for release on DVD in October. The script is being co-written by "Survivor: Amazon" and "Survivor: All-Stars" alumnus Rob Cesternino, along with Scott Zakarin and Eric Mittleman. It's about the ghost of a wronged woman seeking revenge on those who cheated on her.

"Kill Reality" will feature "Survivor" alumni Ethan Zohn, Jenna Lewis, Jon "Jonny Fairplay" Dalton and Jenna Morasca; "Real World"-ers Trishelle Cannatella, Tonya Cooley and Steven Hill; ex-"Bachelor" Bob Guiney and "Bachelor"-ette Trish Schneider; "Amazing Race 4" winner Reichen Lehmkuhl and "Apprentice" contestant Stacie J. Upchurch.

In classic reality-show style, they'll share a house while making the show and the movie. Cameras will follow them as they learn whose character survives longest and who will have on-screen romances with one another, along with any repercussions those developments might have.'

So:

1. Just how much is this movie going to suck?
2. How much do we want this movie to suck?
3. Can Jonny Fairplay please die first?

Will Jonny be killed during the opening credits in such a way that it fits in with the theme song?

'Oh, no! It's Jonny Fairplay's music -- nevermind.'

So, let's see, Reichen is the only gay one there, right? His only romance is going to be the romance of the hand.

I just jumped through the screen and pounced on fvcking Stacy J. She doesn't like the idea that Reichen doesn't want to be referred to as sausage smuggler and butt pirate. I wonder if Stacy would be upset if she were referred to as a derogatory name?

"RE: E! gets ready to Kill Reality..."
Posted by Tahj on 07-26-05 at 10:16 AM
I was thinking the same thing Vols. Since Stacy J. is black I'm sure she would have gone ballistic if anything derogatory to blacks had been that script. What a hypocrite.

I really liked the show last night. So many reality DAWs in one place living together and making a movie. It's hilarious.

I used to think the way Toni behaved on Paradise Hotel was mostly an act. Now I know she really is that much of a b*tch. She should take the role that was given to her and do a great job with it instead of trying to ruin the movie with her changes. That's what a professional does.

Also, she thinks she can be an actress, but she can't pronounce a name? Unbelievable.

I have no idea what the goal of this show is. It's kinda Surreal Life in a way, but the eonline has you voting people out, but the show is taped right????

I will try to continue watching it. Toni, Trish and Johnny Fairplay are good cast members. I don't get into the Real Life people. You can tell although they said there was tryouts for the parts they just cast people to case drama.

What I did like was when other reality stars popped up. I liked seeing Bolo (AR), Jonathon (AR), Dennis (AJ), Robb (Survivor Thailand), and others I forget. Gervace will be on later.

I would've liked to see Robert (Cupid) and David Daschal (AJ).

It'll be interesting to see who pops up on this show.

As far as Toni, she cryed because she wants to act REALLY bad, but her performance from yesterday killed any chance of future acting. WOW What a Pyscho!

"What about Jenna L's marriage?"
Posted by Ellehcar71 on 07-27-05 at 11:52 AM
This show is just awful - I LOVE IT!

It wasn't that long ago that Jenna Lewis got married and released her honymoon sex tape. On this weeks show and previews Jenna talks an awful lot about the possibility of hooking up with the lead - What's-his-name. Not that I expected her marriage to last or anything - but I was still a bit shocked. Anyone know anything official about the status of their marriage?

There are two people this could absolutely do without & be better off:
Tonya & Toni.

Could they BE any bigger drama queens?

I've never particularly liked Jenna Lewis, but she can at least hold it together.

Oh, and who is this nut-job from the Bachelor? Might just lump her with Tonya & Toni.

I hate Johnny Fairplay, but he'll be interesting to see as an actor.

Steven IS a pretty good actor thus far. And I kind of have this love-hate thing for Rob C. I'll keep tuning in to see what happens.

Shakes? Shakes who? I noticed that he did not appear to have gotten an invite to the auditions.

Seriously though, Toni is SUCH.A.FREAK. I am absolutely certain that Rob is sorry he ever wrote in a role of Officer Kow..Cause...Cole slaw...Koz...never mind!

Thank goodness I have Tivo though! I had to pause because I couldn't stop laughing when Rob said "I know you're not Polish..you're not a detective either. It's called ACTING."

Rob's dry sarcasm always cracked me up.

Caught a repeat of the first ep last night. I am not familiar with many of the "actors" because until very recently I was only a survivor and apprentice watcher.

I am catching all past eps of my fave new show TAR and I can't wait for the one with Reichen. Why is it I always get crushes on the hot gay guys??

Hated Fairplay on survivor (and guessed he lied about granny as soon as it came out of his mouth) but I think he is probably going to be the most entertaining to watch.

So, other than my survivor alumni and psycho Trish from the Bachelor I don't know anyone else from Adam.

I didn't see the whole show, but if I were doing the highlight show for the 11:00 news (10:00 central):

Johnny Fairplay grabs Tonya's foot as she tries to jump out the window and promises to marry her to get her to come back in. Did Rob C write that scene?
Tonya could not act intimate with Reichen. Girl! How many straight girls get to manhandle a buff gay man? Even if the flight never takes off, I'd be so on that tarmac. She admits she has intimacy issues. *sigh*
Toni wants a bigger part and more depth to her character. So when rehearsal begins, she starts doing a scene from The Young and the Restless while everyone else flips pages looking for this scene. Twenty years from now it will be shown as a lost episode.
Jenna wants to get some guy to want her bod so she can turn him down cuz he's, ya know, Trish's scraps.
Johnny Fairplay knows they don't take him seriously as a producer and reminds them that "there will be plenty of time for hot tubs, threesomes and nudity later".

And I would love to see a summary by one of our illustrious writers.

The problem for me was past history. There's a lot of Real World alumni in the cast, and I have no idea who any of those people are. The next RW episode I see will be my first. Anyone who does these summaries has to be familiar with the full field of DAWs involved -- and that leaves me out.

How about Ginger? I hear she's been following Trishelle around for many series now.

I saw an episode last night (7-31) don't know if it was the first or second.....but I kept thinking the whole project must be a goof to get the biggest reality DAW's into thinking they are making a movie.....does anyone seriously think these guys can actually act?

The real story must be a version of the show ( forgot the name of it) where everyone is an actor but the "mark" but this has to be letting these reality stars trying to act (they are all marks)....not actually expecting them to act in a movie. Then the viewer gets to watch them do the same psycho crap they did when they were on their respective show in the first place.

Toni is a nut case, and Tonya has to be right behind her.

I don't know who a few of these people are, but I know most of them, and the bulk of them are/were "villains."

Trashelle and Steven are from the sleaziest RW ever. Veronica of Road Rules recently said Tonya wants to be a "brand name" like Coral. How true! What does is say of this group the Steven is the least drunken whore of the group?

Fairplay's cards allow him to choose between "a$$hole" and "total loser." So I can see why he goes with option A, and it does allow him to score with physically attractive nutjobs.

I thought Stacie J. got somewhat of a raw deal on Apprentice, being perceived as crazy just for playing with a magic 8 ball. I see, however, that those Apprentice beeyutches were right, and she is scary.

Toni...ouch.

I was a fan of Rob C. and Jenna M. on Survivor, but Rob was like the "manipulative mastermind" (but please, Rob, chill out and refrain from referring to yourself as the smartest Survivor ever. You'd make fun of someone who talked that mess, if it wasn't you) and Jenna was like the "evil cheerleader." Jenna Lewis actually got decent editing in the first Survivor, but she's gone downhill lately, and that "wedding" video and quickie divorce put her dangerously close to Tonya/Trashelle territory.

Bachelor Bob is not a bad guy, but he is the butt of much humor here in LA. He's seen as a doofus.
Even "nice gay" Riechen dumped his husband after they won TAR.

I don't think I really like this show. But it is intriguing. E! shows are usually flat compared to, say, VH1. But I find Fairplay, Tonya and Jenna's desperation to live on camera fascinating. and disturbing.

"RE: The reality stars you love to hate."
Posted by volsfan on 08-03-05 at 10:40 PM
but she's gone downhill lately

You can just drop the "hill" from that statement!

I didn't like Jenna L. on her first season of Survivor and could not believe she was on All Stars but I digress.

You are so right in what you say about the RW/RR peeps and the strange thing is Stephen is the less of the evils.

Toni is the biggest nutjob of all. For someone that has tried so hard to be in the acting business and not get anywhere...when does she realize that acting isn't for her?

"RE: The reality stars you love to hate."
Posted by weltek on 08-04-05 at 10:18 AM
Yeah, Toni just doesn't get it. Maybe it's not them, it's you. Get the hint and try a new career.

I'd love to be a rock star, but I can't sing well at all & don't have the look. I'm not going to audition for bands & then pout when they don't hire me.

"RE: The reality stars you love to hate."
Posted by weltek on 08-04-05 at 10:17 AM
Yeah, it's kind of ironic when Jenna bashes Trashelle. Granted she's not doing any threesomes, but she had a quickie marriage, plastic surgery, made a public sex tape & got a quickie divorce. Not exactly "innocent" as she claims.

"Jonny Fairplay"
Posted by johnnyaa on 08-09-05 at 10:19 AM
I hated, hated, hated this guy on Survivor. I love him on this show. Kill Reality without Jonny Fairplay is a TV test pattern.

Jonny is a player from the word "go". If any of these bimbos are unaware of that it's their problem. He's the highlight of all the interesting clips and I get a laugh out of his weasely maneuvers. When he drops the "Fairplay" role Jonny seems like a guy I'd like to have a couple of beers with.

Jenna L surgery??? What kind??

Saw bits and pieces last night where they were considering giving Toni more lines to elaborate the story line more. On the first epi she was b--chng and moaning that she had a small part and was not going to give 100% because she had been slighted and now she's like:
"I'm just here to do the best performance that I possibly can give!"

She is such a DAW it is un-freakin-believable!!!!

I don't know if anybody else is still watching. I certainly hate to admit that I am but every time I think that some of the contestants on the show can't stoop any lower, another new contestant is brought in to prove me wrong. I never saw Katie Doyle before but she's, IMHO, the worst nightmare, so far (there are a few weeks left, so who knows who's out there). If that girl has ever had an intelligent thought in her head, it died immediately from loneliness. She was completely obnoxious, both in her language and her behavior. I can't believe I'm actually saying this but I liked Tonya more. Jonny does have the most pitiful taste in women.
I won't even go into the Jonny/ 2 Jennas practical jokes. I hate to think how many college kids watching the show decided to duplicate them but pity the poor dorm housekeepers.
Do you think the producers even cared very much about the contestants' acting abilities since it seems that so many were cast because of their prior relationships with Jonny. As Rob said, this is becoming "The Bachelor- Jonny Fairplay."

I felt sorry for Katie on the Real World/Road Rules challenge when Veronica and Rachel were picking on her. I saw a totally different side of her the other night. wow i watch like 15 min of this. I like reality TV its funny and shouldn't be taken to seriously. In this shows case im wondering do these people really regard themselves as legit celebs and not washed up reality stars? What the hell is Jenna Lewis's problem she did a porn tape and shes got some issue about getting a little naked.

"Two episodes left..."
Posted by weltek on 09-06-05 at 03:23 PM
I caught up on a few episodes this weekend.

First, wow is Johnny a wack-job. The whole Katie's door fiasco was ridiculous.

Then Rob lying to Katie really showed he hasn't lost his coniving idiot touch. Glad she's continuing to give him the cold shoulder. She's actually being quite mature about it.

I'm finding myself liking Jenna Morasca. She's just enough fun without being a complete immature lunatic.

Nikki McKibben is obnoxious. Did you see her when she came back from the bar completely fried? I have a feeling this is normal for her. Although, she did sing quite nicely in the movie scene.

I could not live with Johnny Fairplay even in the biggest house in the world. Yuck.

Fairplay has got to be one of the most immature adults I've ever seen. I doubt he'll ever grow up. Looks like they'll finally kick him out of the house next week.
