"LoserLodge G● Bonus: Nature Walk"

Posted by tribephyl on 02-29-12 at 05:57 PM
*deep breath in*... ahhhgggghh *cough*cough* *gag* *choke*
tribe: What the frick is that smell?
Matt's Bloated Ego?
Red Tide?
Beached Whale?
Primate Poop?
<Just then a knock on my door.>
tribe: Come in.

Rico: My apologies, sir. The dangerous substance alarms were triggered. Looks like we had a full-scale melt-down at Hut-Cam.

tribe: Has the button been pushed? Is the self-cleaning function disabled? I thought this was all planned out? How soon until Hut-Cam is up and running?

Rico: It was, it's not, it is and it's ready now, sir. Sparkles newer than new. And as an extra measure Coco is still out there now, with hazmat and security teams to insure no further improper dumping happens.

tribe: Then what the frick is that smell?

Rico: That smell is due to the lack of ocean breezes. A sort of coastal kingfish layer. My suggestion is to take everybody into the interior. Away from the beaches for a day. Or at least stay off laplaya.

tribe: Okay. I'll call in a favor from my gardener. Please check CocoNuts for him. Thank you. You're dismissed.

Okay.
It seems like that coastal latrine layer is gonna stick around for awhile.
Looking something like Pea Soup... and smelling exactly like Pee Poop.

So, for the sake of all, I am offering we forego HutCam for the moment and while we wait for a breeze, perhaps do the G● first.
Hence this separate thread.

So...
I happen to know this island has a plethora of wildlife within it's boundries.
And not just the losers.
Here's a list...
American Beaver
Assam Macaque
Australian Platypus
Banana Slug
Blue-eyed Ball Python
Cherry Shrimp
Collared Peccary
Coquerel Sifaka
Giant Clam
Hoary Marmot
Horny Toad
Malay Dugong
Palm Cockatoo
Purple Starfish
Red-Bellied Titi
Ruddy Dik-dik
Smooth-fronted Caiman
Sperm Whale
Tufted Titmouse
Wild Ass

I suggest you pick, from the above list, your Top 8 most want to see critters.
Then grab a pair of binoculars and all take a walk.

Your guide and host will be, nature enthusiast, wildlife expert and lodge gardener... Sphinx Mandrill.
He will be leading 4 different nature walks.
On Wednesday, Friday, Sunday and Tuesday. (Hopefully this will be enough time to see an end to the smelly beach.)
Once you see his Nature Walk posted, reply with your answer and see if you see the wildlife.
If you do happen to see any of the critters on your list, you'll receive their value in randomized/predetermined points. (5/10/15/20/25)
I will be accepting only 8 critters from each loser. No more, no less. Make your list early and show up on the four different days to maximize your point potential.
Look for Sphinx Mandrill's newest Nature Walk, below.

Sphinx: Welcome Losers! I don't know what tribe is talking about regarding all this natural wildlife as I ain't seen anything residing here lately aside from losers and a recently surging amount of flies.
However, when it comes to knowing the backside of this island, it's this primate right here.
.
.
.
Oh wait?
Who are you?
Why are you all staring at me?
Where's my stool?

5cats: Uh, Mr. Mandrill? You're our guide for the G● Nature Walk.
CT: Yeah, the beach is stinky and we were told to meet you so you could walk us around.
bydude: See some wildlife?

Sphinx: Oh, Right. Thanks.
ahem... I will be "leading" 4 different walks.

Each of these walks I will assist you in seeing some of the wildlife that inhabits this island paradise.
Well, if it's really out there. I don't remember seeing anything wild out here.
However, tribe insists there is. (I think it's from the LSD in his 20s)
You can follow me but I dare say you won't see anything else but my butt.

Tribe: Confused?
Good.
But here's the skinny.
Each day you will be given a choice of direction to walk in.
Choosing the correct way will allow you to see some wildlife.
Choosing the wrong way will allow you to continue following Sphinx around... probably aimlessly and usually in ever smaller circles until he's back on his stool at the bar.

Sphinx: What? You are speaking ouzo to me, tribe. Just pay attention, please.
Our first decision is upon us...

To see the wildlife, do you want go UP OR DOWN?

Purple Starfish
Red-Bellied Titi
Ruddy Dik-dik

Please don't make me go back to that stinky beach before it is cleaned up!

My must see critters:
American Beaver - doesn't this seem like a Canadian oxymoron?
Australian Platypus - what a strange critter
Banana Slug - I have actually watched one of these drink from a puddle. (nature geek)
Malay Dugong - I'm a diggin' the dugong
Palm Cockatoo - or three?
Purple Starfish - yes please, preferrably in a Hawaiian shirt
Ruddy Dik-dik - weren't these guys both on Survivor Season 1?
Tufted Titmouse - rarely mentioned in Geronimo Stilton books.

American Beaver
Australian Platypus
Banana Slug
Purple Starfish
Ruddy Dik-dik
Tufted Titmouse

I came to a fork in the road, but needed a spoon.

Since right is usually wrong, and left is usually behind, whihc is usually what I am, I'll go left.

And since everything I see has a sexual context, I see these:

American Beaver
Giant Clam
Red-Bellied Titi
Ruddy Dik-dik
Sperm Whale
Tufted Titmouse

I also saw a yellow bellied c0cksucker.

"Sunday Nature Walk"
Posted by tribephyl on 03-04-12 at 05:46 AM
Sphinx, here.

Welcome back losers, I'm ready to lead you astray on our next nature walk.

If you're new, I will be allowing for only 4 Critter Picks this trek.
The list of critters to see is above.
If you have played before, you may choose 4 new critters OR keep your old list.

*So far, I believe some of you may have ended up with more in the end, but because of changing you've possibly diminshed your chances by forgoing original critter picks.
Therefore, and without divulging strategies, those who came in earlier stood to have an advantage by picking 8 animals on their list.
With the introduction of the new walks, 2 of those choices have been removed each time. So, those showing up on Friday only got 6 and those for Sunday only 4. I dare say by Tuesday there will only be 2 picks allowed.
Conversely, there is a way of acheiving MORE than your original maximum... by viewing more critters per trek.
For instance, start with 8, see 5 of them. Next walk pick 6 more and potentially see 5 more of those, then pick 4... Giving you 18 critter choices with at least 10 non-sphinx sphincters seared into your corneas.
Still, if you start with 8 and see 2, you still have 6 on your list. The same as the picks for new peeps. The odds would favor that your remaining critters will be more suseptible for seeing.
Same thing goes for those who didn't see anything, you enter the next trek with 8 critters versus 6.
While this is very nearly entering into the MontyHall Paradox territory, I should end it there by saying... So far, not so good, losers.
Let's get those peepers ready!

Your decision will be...

To see the wildlife, do you want go UP OR DOWN?

In the interest of keeping things tidy for you...
The following list does NOT take into consideration anyone's "seen" animals. For those totals see the Wildlife Sightings post.
CURRENT Loser Fav Animal Lists

As far as what trail, we all know that you have to get it up before going down. (Was that too far off PG13?)

I'll keep my lonely critter list, thankyouverymuch.

So far, by, your tack has been to do two things.
1. Go the wrong direction (hence not seeing critters).
2. Choosing the correct direction but not having any of your 'favorite' critters on view.

There are two solutions. (This really goes to everyone.)
1. Stop switching your animals to ones that have already been seen. (Waaaay less chance of seeing them twice.)
2. Choose the correct direction. (50/50 chance)

Posted by tribephyl on 03-04-12 at 10:28 PM
I can't watch it happen anymore.
If I have to make a rule that will stop you all from changing your favorite animals, I will.

I was trying to keep it open, just in case, and in the process hide a strategy which simply had you pick a single list and keep it, hoping to catch some of your favorite animals.
Instead it's become a switcheroo where player after player changes their list only to go from having multiple possible sightings to NONE, then drinks themselves into a confused fog.
So.

Using the CURRENT/VALID LISTS:
Vix: Horny Toad ~ Palm Cockatoo ~ Red-bellied Titi ~ Ruddy DikDik ~ Tufted Titmouse ~ Wild Ass
D'Abby: Blue-eyed Ball Python ~ Coquerel Sifaka ~ Hoary Marmot ~ Palm Cockatoo ~ Ruddy DikDik
Moley: Palm Cockatoo ~ Red-bellied Titi ~ Ruddy DikDik ~ Tufted Titmouse ~ Wild Ass

CT: Blue-eyed Ball Python ~ Coquerel Sifaka ~ Red-bellied Titi
agman: Coquerel Sifaka ~ Hoary Marmot ~ Horny Toad
bydude: Ruddy DikDik ~ Tufted Titmouse
Dakota:

If you have made a list, you have to keep it.
You may add animals to your list, in order to reach the minimum (for sunday's walk it is 4 animals).
If you have more, then you are just lucky.
I would also suggest steering clear of the animals that have already been seen.

Sphinx, here.

Welcome back losers, I'm ready to lead you astray on our last nature walk.
(It seems tribe got tired of watching me do so, so...)
Here is the Currently Valid Favorite Critters List:

qwerty: Assam Macaque ~ Horny Toad ~ Wild Ass
suzzer: Hoary Marmot ~ Horny Toad ~ Wild Ass
Georj: Horny Toad ~ Ruddy DikDik ~ Wild Ass
Vix: Horny Toad ~ Ruddy DikDik ~ Wild Ass
Dakota: Assam Macaque ~ Wild Ass
agman: Hoary Marmot ~ Horny Toad
jbug: Hoary Marmot ~ Horny Toad
D'Abby: Hoary Marmot ~ Ruddy DikDik
5cats: Hoary Marmot ~ Wild Ass
kingfish: Ruddy DikDik ~ Wild Ass
Moley: Ruddy DikDik ~ Wild Ass
CT: Hoary Marmot
Wall66: Ruddy DikDik
bydude: Ruddy DikDik
FloPo:

I will be only be allowing for CT, Wall66, bydude and FloPo to make critter picks.
They will only be allowed to pick as many as would get them a total of 2.
So, FloPo can pick 2 critters; while Wall66, CT and bydude may pick 1 more critter.

The list of critters to see is ...
Assam Macaque ~ Hoary Marmot ~ Horny Toad ~ Ruddy DikDik ~ Wild Ass

Now for Tuesday's Nature Walk, your decision will be...

To see the wildlife, do you want to go LEFT OR RIGHT?

Well, last time I picked left and saw a monkey A$$, and the trail of critters was to the right. This time I will pick LEFT, and hope to see: a WILD A$$, and a horny toad...

So sorry to be late for the party. Alas, real life (if you can call the French Quarter "real life") once again intervened.

I'll go RIGHT this time. As if I remember which way I went last time. Or if I've even been here before.

We've gone down, turned right, and headed up. The only option lepht is Lepht.

I hope Sphinx doesn't backtrack and turn right again.

I will take my chances with the only pick left, which I hope is right.

Thanks Tribe and Coco for the exercise and tour of the area. I've marked a few spots I spied with my bloodshot eyes that have some interesting plant life, you know, I may open up a little shop next to the Hut Cam and sell hookahs. strictly for souvenir purposes (disclaimer)

Sweet! Thanks to Ag!
